I have had this cup in my possession for a single day and it is already my favorite of all the various tumblers I’ve had over the years. I love that the black is a true deep matte black and the kitties and stars being raised AND glossy makes such a cool effect. Photos don’t do this cup justice. The size is perfect for both a large and a small Dunkin iced coffee (if you want to fill it right up! I have two simple modern tumblers and I love this one as it is actually spill proof. I love the push and pull mechanism that the straw has. These cup keeps things cool for extended periods of time and I love that about it and also note as per the instructions packet that comes with it these cups are not meant to be placed in the fridge to keep cool you have to add your ice to the cup in order for your liquid to keep cool. In August 2025, I purchased Simple Modern's 24 oz insulated tumbler for iced coffee on the go, and love it. I wanted something bigger for other drinks, and purchased this one, thinking that the lid would be the same style as the 24 oz, where the one-piece straw goes all the way through the insulated lid—Works great, well-insulated, spill proof, and super easy to clean. This 40 oz has a completely different lid and straw. The part above the lid is rubber/silicone, and can't be removed. Underneath the lid, a SECOND straw of hard clear plastic presses into the bottom of the lid and reaches to the bottom of the mug. I'm guessing this design is for better spill-proofing, but the tradeoff with the complexity of the lid is not an improvement. Today I just noticed mold where the straw plugs in underneath the lid, and the design prevents a straw brush from cleaning it out. I'm currently looking for a replacement lid, because I'm very happy with the rest of the mug. My overall star rating of 4 combines 5 for the mug, and 1 for the lid. ... show more

Excellent travel cup. I swear I use this year round and always get questions and complements on both the style and skeleton print. Not a fully leak proof cap, but I do love this design with the detachable straw and silicone top straw. At least if it does tip over you're fairly safe from a large mess, I do appreciate the design of this tumbler over others I've had. I have had this one for at least 5 months and I've had minimal spill issues. I will say, if you drink carbonated beverages just know the pressure will build up, and it will spill out the straw. But honestly, it's really great tumbler for anyone. ... show more

    • Simple Modern has gone downhill.

I bought this bottle. The no leak straw worked for a while, then stopped working meaning it was gurgling when I used it and not much water came through. Simple Modern’s customer service is great and they sent me another new Halloween themed Signature Trrk water bottle. However after a couple weeks the straw on the replacement bottle did the same thing except I could barely get any water at all to come through the straw when I used it. I had put the original tan bottle away for a couple months. I got it out and started using it again. The straw had “healed” itself and was working correctly again. So now 4 1/2 months after I got the tan water bottle, the anti slip ring which goes on the bottle of the bottle completely came off. So the bottle has an issue with the two things that would have made it cool: the no leak straw and the anti slip ring. I will not ever buy Simple Modern again. They used to be good, but not anymore. Their customer service is very good, but they continue to sell a product that clearly has design flaws and doesn’t work properly. The leak free straw design does not work. Please don’t sell it anymore until you fix it. ... show more

    • More cons than pros

Keeps water decently cold, although ice doesn't seem to last as long as in my other tumblers. The leak proof feature is nice, but if the lid isn't on 100% correctly it will seep just a little bit along the edge. Also, there are times when water comes out of the top part of the straw after closed. Not a leak, just a bit of a gotcha. Remember to sip the remaining water out after closing it and you're fine. These are the good things, however in my opinion the negatives outweigh the bad. It's dishwasher safe, but too tall to fit upright in the top rack of my dishwasher, even with it on the lowest setting. Kind of negates the point of being dishwasher safe. It's also too tall to fit properly in my fridge ice/water dispenser. This makes filling it properly full a challenge. All of my neat and cute straw toppers don't fit because the silicone portion of the straw is much larger. Total bummer IMO. If you carry your tumbler around all the time having cute accessories is a fun option. From time to time the straw makes a wooshing noise when used. Also, the bottom portion of the straw has disconnected a time or two and had to be fixed to continue using the tumbler. Lastly, and worst in my opinion, this thing is super top heavy. The least little bump and it goes crashing over. I'm a clutz, so this is a bit of a problem. Fortunately it's leak proof, but having a tumbler banging all over constantly isn't fun. I feel like a lot of these cons could be addressed with a more thoughtful design. Making the tumbler slightly shorter but a bit wider on the top to still hold 40 oz sure seems like a plausible fix to most of these. Kind of feel like this is a "do better" situation. ... show more
