  • Upgraded a Dell Inspiron 660S. Doubled the RAM beyond Mft specs and works flawlessly.
I was looking for a way to give a bit of a speed boost to my Dell Inspiron 660S, knowing that it's definitely not a gaming machine. Many iterations of Win 10 Pro updates has slowed the machine despite me changing to an internal SSD for my boot drive. Installed the new DIMMs in a matter of minutes, rebooted and it recognized the full 16 GB of RAM immediately, dramatically reducing the size of the Vitrual Disk paging file size. That's a plus, especially when switching windows, Chrome's memory hogging behavior and general background processes. Certainly worth the nominal fee. Device specs from my machine (Inspiron 660S): Device name ############ Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable) Device ID ########-####-####-####-############ Product ID #####-#####-#####-#### System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display I replaced sensitive info with ### ... show more

  • Made my 12 year old system purr.
Worked as advertised. Sealed in a blister pack. This 2x 8 gb set made my 12 year old system run smooth. I had 3x 2gb in it prior so I pulled one and made my it 20gb total. They were plug and play. Well worth the cost. I may get a second set to replace the 2s if I top it out. If you have never installed ram make sure the key slot is on the correct side and it is in the same place on the card. If it is in a different place you have a different set of ram. It is good to pull the old one and line them up to compare. Since a heavy hand and failure to check twice can lead to dead ram or motherboard. ... show more

  • Half a heat shroud is better than none?
Bought this to extend the life of an aging Intel 4000 series box, and for that purpose didn't mind a less expensive memory module set. While it shows a heat shroud, and the memory is double-sided, the heat shroud is only on one half of the module - the other half is just happily exposed to the elements like it's on a vacation at the beach or something. Installation was uneventful, and it works just fine, so nothing too much to complain about. I'm not sure if the heat shroud really does anything for memory anyways, but on the notion that it does, and one was a hardcore gamer or some such, you'd maybe want to think about getting this one. ... show more

  • edit 2 months later
edited review May 30th (2 months after purchase): unfortunately the product is now past the return date. I thought it was working fine but a couple of weeks ago my computer would shut down after I tried turning it on. After pressing power, the motherboard would beep continuously until everything just shut down and it attempted to reset itself. This would happen multiple times until I held the power button down and started it again from a full shut down. I started to think something was wrong but forgot about the RAM. This kept happening over and over and I was scared to turn the computer off thinking it would eventually not turn back on again one day. Fortunately my wife reminded me I had placed this new RAM in a couple of months ago and once I removed it, the computer now works perfectly fine. I cannot recommend this RAM no matter how inexpensive. I purchased it for 25 dollars and now it is on sale for 15 I think. I will not go this route again. It didn't really do anything for my day to day use anyway. original: the RAM was easy to install and was recognized by my 2012 build even though the other 16 I had was from a different brand. I'm happy. not sure exactly what benefits I'm getting but I'm glad it shows now as total 32 g RAM and the computer is running well. I thought it would improve my video editing but that is still the same . I'm not going to upgrade anything else. I'll just have to eventually build a new computer up to today's standards. for now all my steam, gog and epic games seem to be working fine. ... show more

  • Work great, heatsink on one side only
They went to 1600 automatically when placed in the correct slots on my board. They are only heatsinked on one side. Not a big deal, but I have a glass sides case.
