Packaging: comes in a well presented box and shipped in a bubble wrap mailer. Arrived in perfect shape. I use this hook for decals and it performs very well! But, if you are thinking to be using this for weeding decals as well, I have a note of caution. When weeding a particularly intricate design, where denting the vinyl can be detrimental to the overall decal, I have to use a sewing needle to get the small pieces of vinyl for decals. The silhouette hook just isn't sharp enough to weed out the negative of circles of an "I" or small details, or you risk denting the vinyl. I only use it for holding down the vinyl while I pull out and around the design. Great product though for weeding decals. Have been using for over 200 decals thusfar. I recommend! The end is steel and hold up well. The black parts are made of a hard ABS style plastic while the grey portion is a medium soft grip for you to hold onto when using. You can angle the end different ways to achieve what you need. For example, if you need to apply pressure over an even area, use the rounded edge. If you need to put focused pressure on a particular point of a decal, use the hook tip. The product is versatile, and other than the sharpness of the point of the hook, I have no cons.

Cant believe I've been using something else this whole time.. I run a printing company and peel page after page of vinyl on a daily basis. I've used everything so far from cheaper metal picks to dentistry tools with decent success and never wanted to dish out the money for what I thought was a gimmicky "official" Silhouette hook, but this thing really is a game changer. It came in a little too bent to be comfortable with vinyl so I used a pair of needle nose pliers to straighten out the curve a little bit. Now it looks a little closer to an "L" than a question mark. Picks up vinyl perfectly and doesn't bend even a bit- the metal section is twice as thick as other picks I've used. Absolutely no give. I can see myself using this thing for years. Handle looks a little chunky but it's actually very comfortable. The black part is regular plastic but the gray is a little softer silicone. Very comfortable in the hand. edit: it’s now 2020 (4 years later?) and this is still my main pick. I have no idea how I haven’t lost it by now.

I've had my Silhouette Cameo for several months now, but I had not purchased this tool, as I thought I could use other tools I already had. When I finally decided to purchase it, it was because I was having trouble clearing out small pieces from my cutouts. It works well, especially for poking out the little bits that don't come out easily. It's also great for starting the edge of an intricate cut without bending the paper too much. Great tool!

Buy this on amazon because it is cheaper than you can find in any of the stores (well at least cheaper than I could find). I also think you should get more than 1 (I currently only have one and definitely need another, not because they break or go dull or anything but because you will inevitably have someone who wants to help weed). I have heard people use dental tools also for the same purpose of this hook, but I had just invested so much in my cameo I figured I'd spend the whole $5 and get the Silhouette hook, I may in the future venture to other products but I really think if you are just starting this is an ESSENTIAL tool! I use it daily with both vinyl and HTV. With paper I have not seen a use for it, but that's not to say there isn't. Word of advice: do not use this to hep pull off vinyl off a canvas.....you may be more skilled and dexterous than me....but I popped a tiny hole in my canvas trying that. I never thought it would matter that much about what kind of weeding tool I would care for. I have several that I have accumulated, but this is the one I use ALL THE TIME. It fit rights in your hand and when your weeding a lot THAT MATTERS. Others hurt my fingers or don't pick the vinyl right. I bought this one as a backup because I had a mini panic attack when I thought I lot my one but it had slid under my heat press!

This simple device is a nerve, time, frustration saver. I work with vinyl and some of the more delicate pieces were driving me nuts. I was starting to turn away from more intricate designs when the HOOK came into my sights. I had seen it before, way back when I first purchased my machine, but thought it was just another "add on, come on" for crafting zealots. I thought that I surely had something at home that could stand in for an "overpriced needle." I was grossly mistaken. The handle is easy to hold, and reduces hand fatigue, the hook is perfect for removing chad and scrap. In summary, if you are working with vinyl on a cutting machine, you must get this tool. AMEN.

OK, I'll admit it. I did not want to spend x amount of dollars for such a simple tool to use with my vinyl projects on my Silhouette Cameo. I tried using paperclips bent open to form a similar tool, but just got aggravated at how they wouldn't always catch those tiny useless pieces of vinyl. So I finally gave in and purchased the Silhouette Hook and Spatula tools. What a nifty little tool the hook is! It has made my life so much easier. It does what it is supposed to do in a quick, efficient way. Makes my vinyl projects even more fun and less stressful! Why did I wait so long to buy such a great tool?!

This hook works great for weeding the designs I cut on my silhouette (I use for oracal 651 and easyweed vinyls). Fortunately, I have 2 of these hooks - the first was faulty, as the metal hook was not secured well - it would twist and turn in the handle when I was trying to work, which made things very difficult and frustrating. The second has held up through a rough year of use! Overall, critical tool to have on hand if you're working with crafting vinyl.
