So my original king mattress pad finally started to fall apart after10 years. I know it should have been replaced a long time ago, but I try to get every drop of use out of an Item before discarding it. So I went on the hunt for a new one. I live in Southern Arizona, where we don’t complain about how hot it is until it’s at least 115°. So having a mattress pad that’s not only waterproof (think grandchildren), but needs to stay cool. In my experience, waterproof and hot tend to go hand in hand. Also, I’ve never paid this much for a mattress pad, but I’m sick of sweating through hot summer nights. Our summer nighttime temperatures can be as high as 104° here, so a hot mattress and/or mattress pad is sheer misery. So I decided to take a chance on something that had no reviews posted here. It was very well packaged and when I opened the bag, I was immediately impressed. It is so silky without being slick, with no crinkling or crackling noise. It is nicely padded without being thick or heavy. It fits beautifully on my 18” pillow top mattress. The skirt has an elastic edge all the way around, so no slipping off of the corners. For the real test - heat. Amazingly, it does what it says - it does not retain heat like many others I’ve tried. There is still a little body warmth but that’s to be expected. Here is a hint. Don’t buy sheets that are microfiber or contain manmade fibers like polyester. They are hot. Stick to natural fibers like cotton, bamboo, etc. Overall this pad dissipates the heat very well. I won’t know about keeping me warm in the winter for several months and I will update then. For now, I am extremely happy with this purchase, it’s worth every penny. If things change I will post an update. For now I definitely recommend this mattress pad.

My husband has decided a new mattress is necessary in order to try this out. I’m not quite sure why, or if he believes the mattress will somehow corrupt this pad, but we are waiting for a new mattress. I will be back with a full review once we can test it. This isn’t a hill I’m even going to climb, much less die on. It does seem to be exceptionally well made, and is incredibly soft. I can’t wait to use it.

This mattress pad looks like a pillow top mattress. We recently had new carpet installed, and when the mattress was removed, we noticed the plastic waterproofing, which was on the outside, had completely dissolved. It was coming apart in small pieces. It was an above average pad, price wise, and we were very surprised. It’s easy to understand why this pad is on the expensive side. The outside looks like a pillow top mattress. While the outside sections are pleasant to touch fabric, the sides are a stretchy nylon type material, that made it easy to go over the mattress corners. They easily stretched over my 14 inch mattress, and could easily stretch over thicker mattresses. There was no crinkly noise from the mattress, as I turned on it during the night. The description page states that the waterproofing material is sandwiched in the middle of the pad. That construction effectively ensures a quiet and comfortable night’s sleep. I can definitely recommend this well above average mattress pad.
