My husband has decided a new mattress is necessary in order to try this out. I’m not quite sure why, or if he believes the mattress will somehow corrupt this pad, but we are waiting for a new mattress. I will be back with a full review once we can test it. So my original king mattress pad finally started to fall apart after10 years. I know it should have been replaced a long time ago, but I try to get every drop of use out of an Item before discarding it. So I went on the hunt for a new one. I live in Southern Arizona, where we don’t complain about how hot it is until it’s at least 115°. So having a mattress pad that’s not only waterproof (think grandchildren), but needs to stay cool. In my experience, waterproof and hot tend to go hand in hand. Also, I’ve never paid this much for a mattress pad, but I’m sick of sweating through hot summer nights. Our summer nighttime temperatures can be as high as 104° here, so a hot mattress and/or mattress pad is sheer misery. So I decided to take a chance on something that had no reviews posted here. It was very well packaged and when I opened the bag, I was immediately impressed. It is so silky without being slick, with no crinkling or crackling noise. It is nicely padded without being thick or heavy. It fits beautifully on my 18” pillow top mattress. The skirt has an elastic edge all the way around, so no slipping off of the corners. For the real test - heat. Amazingly, it does what it says - it does not retain heat like many others I’ve tried. There is still a little body warmth but that’s to be expected. Here is a hint. Don’t buy sheets that are microfiber or contain manmade fibers like polyester. They are hot. Stick to natural fibers like cotton, bamboo, etc. Overall this pad dissipates the heat very well. I won’t know about keeping me warm in the winter for several months and I will update then. For now, I am extremely happy with this purchase, it’s worth every penny. If things change I will post an update. For now I definitely recommend this mattress pad. ... show more
