There are pros and cons for this carrier. We have a 3 month old kitten so our results are for a very active animal that has no concept of right, wrong, safe, or dangerous and who gets very wild very often. For a calm, older cat, I would expect that most of what we consider cons would be non-issues. Pros: -It's very light -It expands 4 ways so your pet essentially has 5 areas -Lots of zippers -Very airy -Definitely can unzip and fold back down into a slim size for easy storage Cons -The soft sides mean it's already starting to sag because our kitten (who is currently 5 pounds and growing) has jumped on top of it multiple times -We've had it less than a week and the kitten has already made a small hole in the netting on one side -Lots of zippers (yes, it's also a pro), and many of them go all the way around and some don't and...give yourself a few minutes to really figure out what the heck is going on with all the zippers -The outer pocket isn't going to hold much and definitely not food We haven't traveled anywhere with this, though it does look like it would be great for pet travel as long as the pet is not in the belly of a plane -- I would NOT want to put an animal in something this soft-sided where anything could knock into it. We'd bought this to have a backup carrier but we're ending up using it as the kitten's playpen. There's enough room to have a variety of toys (even a rather large one) and still plenty of room for him. He can go in and out from whichever side zipper we have open or via the top opening, or be closed in and still easily able to see us. As a playpen it's great -- unsure that it's going to survive the cat jumping on it, or the cat clawing and biting it, but while it does, we're happy to use it in this way. The carrier arrived early and in good packaging.

I purchased this in June of 2021 and waited until now, February of 2022, to write this review (I wanted to really test it out and see how it held up) and I’m pleased to say I absolutely love this carrier! Keep in mind the attached photos are current so pardon any soil/hair you may see but I wanted to show how it has held up after 8 months. SPACE: I purchased the x-large in case I needed to put both cats in one bag in the event of an emergency then once in a safer place I could open the sides to let them spread out. For regular use it provides my 10 lb cat with a ton of space. SHAPE: Other carriers I’ve had have all ultimately succumbed to collapse and/or the metal rods giving it shape have bent or the tabs holding them in place have ripped. This carrier has maintained its shape and has proven very durable. DURABILITY: Another plus for me is the durability of the mesh used. Said 10 lb cat is not a fan of carriers, or anything that restricts her movement, and has destroyed many a mesh inset. She had a couple of episodes in this carrier and the mesh came out of it no worse for the wear. While she was able to force her claws in the tiny space she was not able to rip through it like she did the others. The zippers are strong and easy to work. FEATURES: I love the ability to open all 4 sides. It allows more options to open the sides when setting the bag down on different sized surfaces. It comes with the standard top and front side access that most carriers have but it goes a step further in allowing access via all the mesh expansions as well. In total you have the 2 animals access points when closed and 5 when expanded! I like this for security reasons if ever there’s an emergency and you need to get your pet out fast. There’s a good sized, secure pocket on one long side to hook over the pull handle of rolling luggage which I also use to loop a seatbelt through in the car. On the same side are 2 tabs for use with straps in a car to attach to a seat or to hang items from like a leash, poop bags (for dog owners), or additional storage/supplies bag(s). The downsides: There’s only a couple of changes I would make to this bag. They’re more of just a nitpick on my part and things I hope the company will consider if they every revamp the bag… 1. There are little velcro tabs on the inside (1 on each length) to help keep the folded mesh contained. They are not very strong and won’t stay hooked. Luckily the mesh is pretty thick and, in combination with the supports, stays in place but it’s still a bit annoying because it can encroach on the available space. I plan on adding my own extra strong, and longer, velcro pieces to each end of the long sides at the very least. 2. Storage space. There is 1 pocked on the narrow back side but it’s very thin and you really can’t put much more in there than a couple of receipts. I have small hands but even I have to squeeze my hand in there and the zipper teeth scrape it. I’d like to see a more spacious pocket when I can store the cats collars and tags when they are home as well as a baggy of food, the tube of medication one of them is on, a small comfort toy (one has anxiety), and emergency information on my girls and how to reach myself or vet for when we are traveling. Right now I have a small makeup bag attached to hold this stuff. It works but it gets in the way and really kind of ruins the aesthetic since it doesn’t match and swings around.

My dog is not the most proportionate. I was scared she would be too smooshed in the carrier because of her length. She wasn’t a big fan, but she did tolerate it. I think this is the best carrier I could have found. I flew Southwest and chose a middle seat because it had the most leg room. I opened the side so she could spread out more and be somewhat comfy. Luckily for me, the flight attendants conveniently did not look at my feet when they would tell people to make sure their bags are fully under the seat in front of them. Warnings: Read your terminal and gate so you aren’t pulling muscles carrying a dog on your shoulder. Also, the zipper got stuck/unzipped by the time I got in the car after the flight. I didn’t investigate much because that was the only time I think we’ll ever fly. If you need a carrier for a single flight with a dog under 20 lbs then I highly recommend this one!!

loved this and so did other as they saw it in action! we did have to sew a few areas up as the zipper got caught on the open mesh areas, we might try a way to patch it so it last longer . but it works great and lots of room. she actually had room to nurse her 6 kitties in there so that was handy and gave me a nice break to relax after they all fell asleep from milk comma... lol. well worth the money but expect some patching if you have rough little kitties that find the slightest little hole to try worm their way through!. overall it was nice and pretty sturdy. an idea also was to make a small PVC frame to line the inside to give it added support in the main compartment. if I do that i'll add pictures too, but just an idea at this point..
