I wanted to wait a few months before reviewing this recliner. There was a very slight "new furniture" smell which disappeared quickly. It was super easy to assemble, it comes in two pieces in one big box, just take everything out of the plastic, align the two metal extensions on the back with the slots at the back of the seat, slide it down and it locks in, and that's that. If you have to do this by yourself, the best way is to sit down on the floor behind the seat, take the back and lift it up and into place. The back is much lighter than the seat so it isn't difficult. This is a very comfortable recliner. The lever on the side opens the foot rest easily. To put the foot rest back you pretty much have to get up and push it with your heel back into place. You can close it while remaining seated but it's not easy. The rocking motion is totally smooth. It reclines almost to flat but not quite. I'm six foot one and this recliner is big enough for me, but anyone taller might find the leg rest a bit too short. The fabric is soft and the two-tone look is very attractive. I think this recliner is very well worth the money. ... show more

But... When it delivered, the bottom below the handle, the wood was broken. No big deal, I shrugged it off. 3 months later, now the bar to the leg rest, next to the broken wood, is noticeably bent. I didn't notice sooner because I never looked underneath the chair. The foot recliner leans low on that side, and doesn't lock without my kids helping push it down. I can't get the foot rest to even start to retract without having to stand up out of the chair. Which is hard to stand if it won't go down. I love how large and comfy it is though. I wish pieces could be replaced. Now I'm just stuck dealing with this issue until I can afford a new chair. ... show more

All these bad reviews even amazon said beware frequently returned item.....mine was just as described, pictured, and imagined! I LOVE it!! Great fast delivery, Easy to assemble and comfortable! Foot rest easily goes in without standing like MOST reviews say it don't! Very satisfied!

I didn’t know with the reviews if it was worth the risk to buy it. Every opinion on here was a bit different but I took the risk. The multiple reviews of the recliner not wanting to close unless you stand up and close it is true. Unless while sitting down you lean forward and slam one foot back hard enough. The review about the seat being firm is true. When I first sat in it, it was super firm. But as I sat back and pulled the recliner lever, it reclined really really far back. It felt like it was sucking me into the recliner. Which was nice to feel comfortable. But as I am 5’8inches and 180 lbs the recliner when reclining back my heal just barely came to the end foot rest. But as for my shorter family members sitting in the chair it’s hard to rock and touch the floor. I do love the wide arm rests as for a mom of a premie infant that doesn’t sleep well the arm rests allows me to hold a lot of his medical supplies on the arm rests. It’s also comfortable to hold him in it as well. For my partner and his other side of the family who are above 6 foot tall. The chair is okay, their feet over hang the foot rest. They have some space in between the armrest and their thighs. They even struggle putting the footrest down. I wish it swivels but it rocks which is the most important. I also wish it was super bulky as it does take up a lot in the living room. Overall, this chair was worth the risk and it’s comfortable and beautiful. It fits my decor perfectly. ... show more

Absolutely what I expected in this rocker recliner! Very well made. It's very comfortable! Bought this for my husband for his birthday. He is 6'5 at 330lbs. It fits him wonderfully. He really likes it. The colors go well with our other furniture and decor. Everyone that comes over when he is not here wants to sit in it. The delivery guys were right on time (actually a little early.) You can't go wrong with this recliner. The ONLY downfall to buying this chair is I can't get my husband out of it...😉 ... show more

The footrest will not lock in place, unless your standing up and can give it a good kick with your heel, then the chair moves because it's light, even for it's size. Really wanted to keep it, but being just a great rocker was not enough.

Great value and good quality and appearance and lumbar support. Delivery was from "Prime" and was timely and exceptional. 1/3 the overall price of the LazyBoy I reviewed in the actual store and I prefer this Ashley chair. Very satisified and would repurchase in a minute. Thank You Amazon!
