Style: For Fujifilm X Mount
I'm just a hobby photographer with a XT20 and the XF18-55, XF10-24, and XC50-230 lenses. I also have a few other manual focus prime lenses I use with Fotasy adapters (which also work great), but I wanted an auto-focus, fast prime to take some better portraits and nice bokeh shots with. So, I read all the reviews between this and the Tokina/Viltrox lenses, and the Fuji lenses, and based on those and price, I settled on this lens. Sure, I like having an aperture ring, and the fact that this lens doesn’t have one was of concern, and almost a deal-breaker. But Fuji cameras are so well laid out that using the front dial to change aperture isn't really a problem at all, so that issue is solved. However, I would have paid $25 more to have one, especially if it were as smooth as the focus dial is (but with detents), which feels even better than the Fujis. The auto-focus is fast and quiet, but quiet isn’t an issue for me either because I only shoot photos, not video. No OIS, but again, that isn’t a problem for me, especially since it lets me shoot at faster shutter speeds, or with much less light, and this is where this lens really “shines” for me. I can get beautiful, sharp, colorful images with so much less effort than with the manual lenses, especially using the Fuji auto-ISO functions in aperture priority. Seriously, it makes me look like I know what I’m doing. In fact, until I stop down to f5.6 on both lenses, it is sharper than the XF18-55 all over, especially in the corners and edges, and as sharp or sharper in the center up to f8. I haven’t compared them past this because I just love shooting this thing open. So, if you are looking for a fast prime with auto-focus for photography and don’t want to break the bank, get this lens. ... show more

This is my go-to lens for filming high-speed subjects like dancing. I can get good freeze-frame stills out of 4K video footage because it has 6 times the shutter speed of the stock lens at any given ISO and lighting conditions without excessive motion blur. Would I rather have a Fuji 33 1.4 sure, but for 65% cheaper this lens can not be beat. Sharpness is good to great, Autofocus is good. Would I like to have an aperture ring, of course. But I can live without it. Very happy I got it.
