  • Top 3 Micro 4/3 prime. Very sharp, shallow DoF, and beautiful bokeh Top 3 Micro 4/3 prime. Very sharp, shallow DoF, and beautiful bokeh
Style: MICRO 4/3
Micro 4/3 (MFT) systems have quite a few affordable and very good lenses, both Panasonic and Olympus. However when looking for a large aperture (f1.4 or larger) lens that's sharp and with shallow DoF, things get a bit complicated. Our options, with autofocus, are: Panasonic Leica Summilux DG 25mm F1.4 for USD 519.99 Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 25mm f1.2 PRO for USD 1,199.99 or this lens, the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary for USD 339.00 Granted the Olympus has superior optics, is weatherproof and more solidly built but its 3.5X the cost! However the Panasonic Leica cannot claim any of those and is still a good USD 180 more. The only weird thing about the Sigma(and this depends on your needs) is its 30mm (60mm =) focal length. This makes it harder as a walk round lens but is actually more adequate for portraits. In my case it suits me fine as I'd rather have a 17mm (35mm =) as walk around lens. If you have a MFT system you should give this lens a try. ... show more

  • My go-to lens for video interviews My go-to lens for video interviews
Style: MICRO 4/3
- Extremely shallow depth of field. Fantastic for portrait photography and cinematic shots. - Fast auto focus - Comes with lens cap + lens hood - Robust, solid feeling lens. Slightly larger than the Lumix 25mm (1.7). Works beautifully with my GH5. This lens is replacing my Lumix 1.7 (25mm) for video interviews. Attached are freeze-frames from my video (4k video from Panasonic GH5). ... show more

  • Absolutely stellar
Style: MICRO 4/3
I wasn’t sure if this contemporary lens was going to have the sharpness that I desired, but after shooting with it for just one day, I can tell you that this lens is far above any Panasonic or Olympus lens of a similar price. I wanted to purchase the art series lens, but since they don’t make that lens currently, I thought I would take a chance on this lens. I am not disappointed in the least. The color rendering of this lens is incredible. The fit in my Lumix GH6 body is absolutely Perfect. On top of that, this lenses weather sealed. I have already shot in inclement weather with this lens, and the results were stunning. 10/10 for sharpness, 10/10 for color, 10/10 no chromatic aberration, 8/10 focus speed. Because I am using this lens on a contrast based auto focus system, I can’t speak to how accurate this lens could be on a PDAF system, but I will say that it is pretty good. If I ever upgrade to the G9II, or the GH7, I will follow this up with a report on how it performs with such a system, but as a micro 4/3 junkie, I can tell you that this is the best lens I own now. I own several LUMIX lenses, but this Sigma is the greatest lens that I could have added to my collection. I am already planning to purchase the other two in the same series. I am very happy. ... show more

  • Fantastic for studio vlogging
Style: MICRO 4/3
I wanted this lens for a studio setup to do vlogging in my home. I have about 6 feet behind me to a back wall. With the camera about 10 feet in front of me, this lens gives beautiful bokeh, mainly because it has 9 aperture leaves rather than 7 in many comparable lenses.

  • Nice lens to Use
Style: MICRO 4/3
The 30mm F1.4 is working well so far. It is nice a sharp at f2.0 for sure. I think it is sharp at 1.4 but I did see some images not as sharp. But, it may have been just some. I shot a party where I had a studio setup and shot a couple hundred shots during the portrait shoot. They all came out nice and sharp. Love the boca I get. Nice having F1.4. I did notice the sigma lens can struggle to focus in low light. ... show more

  • Great lens! I really love the focal distance
Style: MICRO 4/3
Great lens! I really love the focal distance. The fast aperture is really special. For the price point, if you have a micro four thirds cam you really should grab this lens along with the Sigma f/1.4 16mm. Great to have in your bag and you will find that you will use them more than you thought.
