Description

The Sigma 70mm F2.8 DG macro is the first prime macro lens to be adorned with the art badge. Fully redesigned to deliver exceptional 1: 1 (life-sized) magnification, The 70mm F2.8 DG macro lens features a new coreless DC motor for extremely smooth autofocus performance. Prioritizing optical performance, The lens features an extending, floating, two-group focus mechanism. This configuration minimizes aberration to produce optimal results at any focus distance. The Canon EF mount version of the lens is compatible with Canon's lens aberration correction which performs in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more, to further enhance image quality.

  • Very sharp and 1:1 magnification
Style: Sony mount
Great corner to corner sharpness. No image stabilization. Long lens length when attaching lens hood which also obstructs the focus magnification markings. Lens length + minimum focus distance might prove a challenge when trying to get very close to subjects and getting enough light. Tends to hunt for focus in autofocus mode in minimal light situations but is generally very accurate and decently quick. Built quality is very high. Overall a fantastic lens with great sharpness, 1:1 magnification, and solid build quality that you won’t regret at this price point. ... show more

  • Fantastic price for a Sony Macro lens
Style: Sony mount
Fantastic Len fast and sharp a little slow to focus but that’s a given with a macro lens.

  • Great Macro lens for the price
Style: Sony mount
Sigma ART series lenses never fail to impress me. Tack sharp focus and overall, rugged, well-engineered lens. This lens is well-reviewed online, so I'll focus on why you shouldn't get this lens. If you're an auto-focus fanatic, this isn't the lens for you. You can delimit focus to 0.258-0.5m or 0.5m to infinite, and this does improve the responsiveness of this lens to auto-fucus, but otherwise, it's not a fast auto-focus Macro. I knew this when I made the purchase. To achieve that gain you'll have to spend an extra $400-500 on a Sony or other lens. The focus-by-wire gets a lot of bad press. I have no complaints about it. This lens does require quite a few rotations of the focus ring to move from infiinite to 1:1, but typically when I'm out in the meadows shooting flowers/bugs and what not, I've already got the lens extended. The focus-by-wire is definitely advantageous for micro-adjustment focus. Definitely well-suited for tripod photography. I'm only discounting a star based upon the lack of internal image stabilization. However, I've been shooting with hit handheld using a Sony A6400 without issue. If you'll be using this lens with a tripod, it's just as good as any other Macro with internal stabilization. Again, $400-500 discount for missing this feature. I highly recommend this lens, discounting the above. For the price, it's unbeatable. ... show more

  • Great lens especially when on sale
Style: Sony mount
I want to start out by saying that I bought this lens when it was on sale. The image quality is amazing as expected of a macro lens from Sigma's art series. The auto focus nails it most of the time for me, although, it is pretty noisy. However, the noise isn't really a bother for me and it really isn't much of an issue. Overall, fantastic lens and definitely worth it. I would definitely recommend waiting until it goes on sale, though. ... show more

The post I sent it before this one, was a mistake. I thought it was other lens. This lens is very good I being using it since I got my hands on it. Thank you for the good lens that I can use with my Sony a6100 model camera

  • Well made, sharp image, but slow autofocus
Style: Sony mount
It's a very sharp lens, but autofocus is too slow for live insects. (I gave it only one star for image stabilization, but very few macro lenses have that and it's not an issue). I already own and love the Sigma 105mm macro lens. I thought the lighter weight of this 70mm would be nice. But I returned it because it was too slow for speedy insects. even mounted on the very fast Sony A1. ... show more
