Like: Sharp, smooth cutting. Dislike: Pretty much all the other features. Oh, and the packaging doesn't want to let go! Bone notch: When I cut something, it generally always gets caught on the bone notch. Perhaps women with small hands won't open the blades enough to have that problem. Junk it. Bottle cap opener: I put my thumb through one handle, my three distant fingers through the other. Half the time my index finger winds up on the point of the bottle opener. Junk it. BTW, the notch for the bottle opener removes half the metal and more than half the strength of the handle. Nutcracker? Twist off cap assist?: I tried opening a bottle twist-off cap, these don't grip the cap tightly enough. I won't bother trying them on a nut - the blades are too narrow. Junk it. Screwdriver: No. Just no. Junk it. All in all, these suffer from what looks like last minute feature requests from marketing. E.g. "These are really nice shears but can you add this teensy-weeny little feature?" "And this one too?" In the computer software world the result is annoyances, bugs, odd behavior, and generally a product that is bloated and is unlike what the designers had in mind. These would be five star shears if they just didn't have all the extra features. Oh, and if the packaging was more willing to let go. ... show more

I have owned many pairs of kitchen shears and most work well initially, but then seem to dull quickly. I purchased this pair to replace a Cutco pair I owned that inadvertently got thrown in the trash. I didn't really want to pay the price of $125 to replace my Cutco shears, so I purchased the Shun Cutlery Multi-Purpose Shears. Thus far I'm very pleased with my purchase as they definitely compare with my Cutco shears. This pair is more expensive than others, but well worth the cost and more than half the price of Cutco shears. ... show more

    • Excellent cutting scissors
I love these scissors. I bought them mainly for the kitchen because the blades are stainless steel and they wouldn’t rust. Then I was trying to cut pieces of cardboard (the kind that you use for shipping boxes) and it cut so easily that I will no longer use a box cutter (which is more dangerous).
