Once I got back in there, I wanted to take things slowly and start with lighter weights. I got this to help support my back and to make sure my posture is correct. Hey middle ager active guys! (Yep, me too) If you occassionally hurt your lower back, irritating an already known condition, or your feel like you need to be more careful, this might be the ticket! I wanted a lower back brace that I could still work with on, that would move with me, and be uber-adjustable. This is it. Stretchy, breathable, and on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say its a 6. To put this in perspective, a weight lifters belt should be 9-10 for something like deadlifts, right? I guess I could use this at the gym, but its more of a reminder that ideal gear for something like that. I recently schlepped 80 lb bags of concrete mix. Wore the back support. Helped me, and reminded me not to bend the wrong way. Probably all I will need. And thin enough that you could get it on under casual clothing. ... show more

Seems like the size chart is a bit off. I followed what was required for sizing a Shock Doctors website but it was a miss. I ended up giving it to my girlfriend and she was happy with it. I gave it three stars for the size chart other the that it seems like a well built back support..

This belt looks and feels of good quality. I've tried the ones that you can purchase locally and I truly believe this one is better even though it cost more. I am a 39 in the waist and I purchased the L/XL, I should have gone one step higher in size, as everyone had stated the sizes run small.
