Man these Vivosun root plugs are nice. Highly recommended. They're slightly bigger than the root riot plugs and perfectly flat on the bottom. They can stand up by themselves no problem. And they fit these trays perfectly. Much nicer than any other root plug I've used in the past. Very well made. 👌🏻

Not sure how I should feel about this. Instructions are not to soak the plugs as they come pre-moistened. This was not the case as these were bone dry and didnt germinate my plants until i added water to the bottom of the seedling tray. Otherwise these are working great. I will never touch rockwool again outside of throwing them away immediately

These plant starter plugs have been a game-changer for my indoor garden, making it incredibly easy to get quick germination and strong root development without any of the usual soil mess. Right out of the package, they hold the perfect amount of moisture and air, so my seeds and cuttings take off with zero hassle. They fit perfectly into my starter trays, and I love that the pre-buffered pH levels give me peace of mind against nutrient burn. That said, they aren't completely flawless. I did notice that a few of the plugs tend to crumble a bit around the edges when handling them, and they can dry out surprisingly fast if you don't stay on top of your watering schedule. A couple of them also had off-center pilot holes, which made inserting smaller seeds a little tricky. Even with those minor quirks, it is still a highly reliable, mess-free way to give my plants a healthy head start.

I thought these were going to be regular seed starting medium with a bunch of peat and coconut fiber, but they're not. This is something better. I don't have a hydroponic system and I didn't initially realize that's what these were for, so it just used a few to start my tomatoes for my outdoor garden. They worked great. Stayed damp for longer than the regular pucks, got stuff growing just fine, and I think they were getting more nutrients than from the coconut fiber, which is really just a location, not food. I'm not sure if these have rooting hormone or nitrogen or what, but they work great. They're easy to use-just pop them in your potting tray, get them wet, tuck your seeds in, and put on your grow light. Check back in every other day to water and call it great. Really, really impressed with these, and so we're my tomato starts

The plugs arrived well-formed and expanded easily when soaked, properly maintaining their shape. However, I found them to be much denser than expected, and they remained fairly compact even after hydration. They are much larger then some other starter plugs over used, and they definitely have more of that "brownie plug" appearance. My biggest concern is the lack of visible pore space for airflow. While the plugs appear to be retaining moisture, they like to stay wet for extended periods, which could limit oxygen availability around developing roots. For tissue cultures, fresh propagations, or small pups, I'd be concerned about the potential for root rot, stalled root development, becoming root-bound, or just properly rooting without making it difficult to transplant in the future. Compared to other brands I've found effective, I wouldn't want to use these on plants or cultures I'd spent a significant amount of money in to obtain. If you're using these in plants you're doing in bulk where it's not a big deal if the roots are more constricted, then these would be a good cost-effective way to go. However, these may be better suited for plants with established root systems rather than delicate starts that require a highly aerated rooting environment, since the dense material won't be as effective for those roots..

I got these starter plugs for my daughter to plant her seeds with, as she has quite the green thumb. It seems like everything she plants in them does mighty well, and the seeds germinate right nice and quickly. They seem to hold moisture well without getting too soggy, which helps the seeds sprout without any issues. I really appreciate that these cubes are nutrient free by design, which seems to protect the delicate little seedlings from any nutrient burn. They have a pre buffered pH that creates a great growing environment right out of the package. It seems to provide a nice balance of air and water that encourages the roots to grow outward strong and healthy. If you are doing cuttings, I figure you would just add your own rooting hormone separately before sticking them in. The whole process is very clean and mess free compared to using regular potting soil. Overall, these seed rooters are a great addition to our indoor and outdoor growing setup and hold together very well. For the current price, I figure they are a great value and the overall quality is great.

These seed starters work really well. They work best for smaller seeds. I used them for tomato seeds. I got them to use with my hydroponic set up but then decided that they work just as well or even better without the hydroponics. The pods hold lots of water and they are loose enough that the root system spreads enough for a healthy plant. I like to think of these as clean seed starters since I really don’t have to get my hands dirty to start my seeds. I did have a few that broke apart in the bag which is probably more of a handling or shipping issue than a manufacturing issue. I am really fond of these and will use them again in the future.
