I have fished with these reels for 2 seasons and they have performed excellent for me so far. Once you get the tension knob and breaks set for your line and lure weight, you'll be surprised how far these small reels can cast weightless baits like a 5-6" Senko and 4" swimbaits. They are not the quietest reels when casting, however they are very smooth on the retrieve and I have never had any issues with locking the drag down a pulling big bass through heavy grass. I like to use 7'3" and 7'4" M-MH rods with 10,12 and14lb test lines. Just remember to oil the break pipe and spool bearings once in a while and you'll be good. Happy fishing. ... show more

Reel came in today in a sealed shimano box. $130 I wouldn’t expect nor am I very happy that this reel is beat up the way it is. Haven’t had a chance to fish it yet, but I’d assume the function is fine just from playing with it today. The appearance is the disappointment for me.

My 20-year-old son has become obsessed with fishing. He has been struggling to catch the big ones though. His cousin and his dad can catch them and it drives him crazy. Absolutely no lie, on the 1st cast on his new reel he caught this monster. He loves the reel for all the different adjustable aspects. Had written that was having trouble reaching Shimano. I found a number for their company in Irvine CA and called. The customer service rep was more than helpful. He is having me mail the reel to his attention and will make sure it is repaired and in good order and returned. Extremely helpful and nice. Having trouble reaching Shimano. Purchased fishing reel and level wind not working just clicking and not moving fishing line to smoothly feed line to the reel. Went to use for first time and not working. Clicked on get help from company but only bicycle items listed. Have only bought Shimano bicycles and components and fishing reels since the 1970's and love their products. Just need a way to contact them so I can get this new reel operational. ... show more
