  • Not perfect but very nice
Color: Aluminum/Black
I ended up selecting this Mule pack as replacement to my prior pack which was also a Mule which was very happy with but wore out mountain biking. After first use, I'm very happy with my decision Key points/observations: Value for money compared to other packs: excellent Improvements over the last model: More storage, Larger outer compartment has 3 net compartments which are really nice! Magnetic sternum strap is a home run. On MTB rides I would stop to get something out of the pack, then start riding after forgetting to clip the sternum strap, and physically could not do with one hand. Now can easily do with 1 hand. New adjustable sternum strap height is nice New magnetic hose retainer is nice, but for cycling won't work unless sternum strap is adjusted to highest point otherwise hose hits shoulder/arm and will not stay. Bite valve with shutoff is nice. They all leak after awhile so the shutoff is nice. Misses compared to last model: The larger outer pocket comes at the cost that it is no longer the outermost pocket. To fully unzip the pocket, you must unclip the two buckles used to secure the outer stuff sleeve. Not a showstopper as you can get to most stuff by partially unzipping and reaching in from the side I use the lanyard for keys 100% of the time. They put the key lanyard in the bottom zippered mesh pocket of the outer pocket. The only way to get to this is to fully unzip the outer pocket after unclipping the stuff sleeve. (game show buzzer). I worked around this by attaching a new lanyard within the pocket that is accessible from the top or side. This model has a cord loop for securing the bladder. Much less convenient than the previous sleeve for the plastic piece below the cap on the bladder. (game show buzzer) The lame video by the guy who has never used a hydration pack and didn't even bother to unbuckle the straps from how it was shipped is garbage. C'mon Camelback, give me some free stuff to review and I'll actually use it, and give worthwhile reviews!!! I looked around at other brands and am very happy with this choice! ... show more

  • 6 Things to know....
Color: Black
Camelback Mule 3L Hydration Pack: A quick look at this mid sized pack shows that thought was put into the design and manufacturing. It is the small details that show the quality. 1) The pictured clips only insert one way so the strap does not twist or bind. 2) Each strap has a catch on the end so the strap does not pull through the buckle. 3) There are 6 zippers on the pack. One is color coded blue indicating the pouch for the bladder. So you know not to open that when accessing the other 2 storage areas which has dual zippers. Again, letting you know it is a storage area. The final single zipper is a pocket on the top that is lined with soft fabric for delicate items; cell or sunglasses etc. 4) Padding on the back to hold it off the spine and webbing to allow air flow. Very nice touch. 5) Chest strap has magnetic locking catch that doubles as magnetic for straw. The entire strap is adjustable by sliding up and down for individual comfort. Clean simple design. Negative; I think that with such a nice pack the shoulder straps could be more hardy. Time will tell if this is the weak spot. ... show more

  • OG Wins Again
Color: Fired Brick/Black
Had the original Camelback mule from way back Wore it out. Bought a generic and it was better/more features than my worn out CB. Wore that generic out and bought this new CB Mule. It is awesome. More features, better organization, etc. Very happy.

  • I love Camelbak M.U.L.E.
Color: Fired Brick/Black
After years of daily use, I was knocked onto my back by a friend's dog. my camelbak M.U.L.E bladder developed a leak. It had served me very well for many years, so I decided to replace the entire camelbak, rather than just the bladder. I chose the red one because I thought it would make me more highly visible. I have many different styles of Camelbak depending on the activity, but the M.U.L.E. is best suited to daily use for my purposes. My ONLY complaint, is that this camelbak is more of a maroon color rather than the highly visible red that is shown. But, I love the features, and I hope it will give me many more years of daily use. ... show more

  • Great quality
Color: Fired Brick/Black
Ive used the pack to go hiking and it's held up to the moderate/advanced trails I've used it for. It doesn't have a big storage space but it should be enough for any day hikes you may need it for.

  • 3 Stars is Probably Generous
Color: Aluminum/Black
This is my first Camelbak or product like it so I just knew buying the king of this type of product would be worth the cost. Wrong. I would have been as happy with a $40 model from Walmart. Pro: - Holds a lot of stuff - Holds a lot of water. This was why I went with this specific model Cons: - Zipper on bladder compartment doesn't go down the entire side making it difficult to slip in the bladder - It isn't obvious if straps are twisted or not - There is a hook for car keys, but it is located half way down the bottom of one compartment making it difficult to use if the compartment has much stuff in it - Their genius engineers provided a fastner to hold your helmet. I thought that is what your head was for - Bladder is difficult (but not impossible) to prevent from leaking - Chest strap won't fit a large person - The magnet to retain the straw can't be used except on the left side - The flow isn't as much as I expected - TBD on the hose fitting that connects it to the bladder. It seems weak, but maybe I am wrong. ... show more

  • Perfect Size For Hiking
Color: Fired Brick/Black
I fretted over size, how large the opening was to be able to put in ice (of heading out on a spur-of-the-moment hike), and pockets for snacks and first aid items. This seems to fit the bill in all aspects...lots of pockets and large ones too, good size opening for filling with water and ice. The mouthpiece is an improved design. Though we've not yet used it, it looks like what we needed and after using it once or twice, we'll be purchasing another companion one. ... show more

  • Love everything but one detail
Color: Fired Brick/Black
Does a pretty good job meets the Camelback standard that I'm used to is definitely a light when I don't put too many books or other things in it one thing I have against it is the screw in lid if it's not in just right it will leak and any pressure on it when you feel it full will mean loss of water or any liquid that is held. ... show more
