These are very easy to set up and come with the cables installed. You will need cable housing. I love these shifters and the fact that you can choose what brake lever you want with them. This is a big deal to me cause I prefer 2 finger short brake levers. I got this set cause I built this bike from the frame up and wanted to go back to a 2x8 speed set from a 1x8 system. The shifters don't disappoint. Smooth flawless shifting on every shift. If you are not familiar with setting these up then you may need to take it to a bike shop. I bought this after.my stock shifter broke. This shifter solved several issues I had. 1. It completed my Shimano drive line. 2. You can jump 2-3 gears at time if needed, or shift one at a time as well. 3. It moves the body under the bar and out of the way of my brake lever. Kudos on this shifter.

I have an older mountain bike that has served me well but it was time for some upgrades. It came factory installed with grip shifts which I never really liked all that much. I much prefer this still of shifter so when I decided to get back into riding, I wanted to replace some parts to make it more comfortable to ride. These were a great purchase.
