Description

The Shimano Curado 150 DC Baitcasting Reels are a series of mid-sized baitcasters with a built in microcomputer that carefully and perspicaciously monitors spool speed 1000 times per second. While digitally controlled (DC) baitcasters have been a relatively common and established trend in Japan, where recreational fishing is practically the national past time, affordable DC baitcasters have taken longer to hit the land-lubber filled North American market. In fact, this reel is so innovative it recently won the ICAST 2018 Award for Best of Show Freshwater Reels. But what makes this an award winning reel? What's so fancy about a built in microcomputer? Well, thanks to the DC microcomputer's powerful spool speed analysis and braking technologies, backlash is a thing of the past and long casting light lures is easier than ever before. Additionally, this reel holds up the renowned Shimano performance standards respected by anglers worldwide for decades with a laundry list of potent technologies and design features that includes: MicroModule Gearing to ensure a frictionless gyration; SVS Infinity braking system for fine-tuning; X-Ship technology for more smoothness and durability; S3D for consistent spool control and brake force; Hagane body for a strong performance without tilting and any warping; and Cross carbon drag. Available in 6.2:1, 7.4:1, and 8.5:1 gear ratios in both Left and Right Hand retrieve.

  • Very Quick Shipping & Very Pleased
Style: Gear Ratio: 7.4:1 | Size: 150 Right
Very very quick shipping from the seller! I was shocked at how quickly I got the reel. From east coast to the mid-west/west side only took 2 days, as I said I was very shocked lol but the product came exactly how I’ve seen it as bass pro shops or other places that carry this reel. Everything works as it should and can’t wait to get out and fish with it! Smooth as butter from the practice cast I have done. If you are use to cheaper baitcasters & wanting to upgrade (if you can & this is in your budget) you can’t go wrong with this reel. It just feels so much more smooth than anything I’ve used in the past. Very happy with my purchase & will buy more in the future. One thing I will say, I’ve seen unboxings on YouTube and people usually get the reel oil with shimano gear, however I didn’t & the seller told me that they were not aware of the reel oil. So not sure on that. But I’m still giving 5 stars. On a side note - if you think the DC breaking is “backlash free” you are wrong. It does HELP with backlashes but you still need to thumb it a bit. Even with the perfect setting for your line and your spool tensioner you will still get them if your not paying attention so just keep that in mind. It’s not a fix for your blow-up backlashes but it does decrease them significantly if settings (1,2,3,4 for line / and your spool tensioner, along with conditions) are correct. Good luck and tight lines! 💪🎣 ... show more

  • Elite reel

The best reel I’ve ever used. Would love to have a second one. Phenomenal reel! Completely satisfied.

  • I'm Hooked
Style: Gear Ratio: 8.5:1 | Size: 150 Left
This is only my second bait caster but I am hooked. I've never used a bait caster because my friends all say the same thing. Don't waist your time or money, they're too hard to use. I recently started with a Penn Fathom Lever Drag 2. 40N....Very easy and fun to use so I pulled the trigger on this DC Bait Caster. I'm glad I did. This thing is a CHAMP. I still get some back lash but nothing I haven't been able to "un-lash". I have a hard time in cramped area's where there are a lot of trees. Seems to me that I need some open space to get the best use out of this reel. Make no mistake about it though. This thing will send a light lure a lot further than a spinning reel will. I haven't mastered this reel yet and I still get some snags and a few back lashes here and there but it's actually worth it. I'm very new to bait casters and I'm casting pretty good. My son, who taught me how to use a bait caster, can't believe how well I'm doing. He wants one now. His birthday is coming up too. I've used this rod on 3 different occasions for a total of about 20 hours and I have been experimenting with it quit a bit. On the third day I caught 12 bass on a Roaster Tail. This seems to reel in a lot faster than the spinning reels that I'm used too. So I had to slow it down a bit. I still use my spinner for tight places but this DC is my go to now. Once I have it set I don't need to mess with it much. I'm currently using 20lb braided line but I think I'm going to go up to 30 lb. I've been told it will cast even further with that. I will definitely buy another. ... show more

  • Best reel for the money, hands down.
Style: Gear Ratio: 7.4:1 | Size: 150 Right
100% worth the money. I haven’t tried the SLX DC, which is about 80$ cheaper, but from my experience with this reel, and speaking with others with experience on both the Curado DC and the SLX DC, everyone I know has said that the Curado DC comes out on top. It is a little bit heavier than your average baitcast reel, however, even though I have small hands, it’s still very comfortable. And thankfully, it casts mono and fluoro like a dream. I’ve been leaning towards using strictly braid for my baitcasters, because I can never find the right mono or fluoro to use that isn’t stiff, but with this reel you don’t need to worry about line stiffness. I’ve casted 15 pound bass pro shops brand mono as hard as I could on setting 2, and I didn’t even get a HINT of backlash. The same line, on the Lew’s Mach II, backlashed like crazy. There’s so much more I could say about this reel, like it’s ability to skip baits without backlash, casting into the wind with ease, etc. but I’ll spare you the details. All in all, I can just about guarantee you’ll love this reel, if you choose to buy one. ... show more

  • Amazing Real, but the seller?
Style: Gear Ratio: 8.5:1 | Size: 150 Right
When your buying a Curado you already know what your getting, an amazing real with DC technology that works flawlessly! However the seller claimed it as new, but the box had already been opened, and poorly repacked. Shimano places a security seal on their boxes for a reason, so the buyer knows it is new from the factory and has never been tampered with. I had to return mine.. security was broken. ... show more

  • Shimano DC Curado
Style: Gear Ratio: 8.5:1 | Size: 150 Right
I watched my friend use one of these on a recent fishing trip. He easily casted this reel into the wind and never had a single issue with backlash but still got pretty good distance throwing baits. I ordered one which came in yesterday and I rigged it up with some braid and took it out to one of the local ponds in the neighborhood. I said the reel as I normally would any of my reels where the bait would barely fall and began to cast. Nice smooth long cast without any backlash. So then I set it where the bait would fall at a very fast pace. Normally setting any reel like that and chunking it ends up with me and a bird nest. Not this time, the cast for even farther and as soon as that bait touched the water it would stop. Then I moved to the other side of the pond and began to cast it into the wind. It wasn’t a strong wind maybe 5 to 8 but I continue to get a really good distance and as soon as the boat hit the water the spool stopped. So far so good with this one. Taking it on a little trip I’m going on this weekend hopefully I will catch something on the reel and give it a work out. ... show more

Not a pro but not a novice with bait casters. This one is very nice and difficult to mess up. I have mine spooled with 15lb braid and have not had any issues.
