This makeup set was very tantalizing for my 8 year old daughter who LOVES makeup and all things girly! For me, though, I thought it looked like low-end makeup with many colors that I would never use. Now, as a gift, this could be nice for someone who does not already have a preferred makeup brand or supplies, since it does have wide array of tools and colors. I would gear more toward getting it for a young person looking to start their makeup journey without a high price tag. However, the list price of over $30 that I see for this item right now would not be worth the dollars. The case is cute and seems sturdy. All the makeup and plastic inserts can be removed, so the case could potentially be used for other storage or travel needs as well, which is a plus and adds value to the cost.

This is a hard review to write, because there's a problem here and I don't know if it's a product issue (and therefore should impact the score) or a shipping issue (and therefore should not). This arrived with two broken palettes - like absolutely destroyed. I contacted the seller and they sent an entirely new kit, which arrived with a broken palette - one of the same ones that was originally broken. At that point I decided to leave it alone. On the one hand, the same palette broke twice, so that particular one may be super delicate or of lower quality. On the other hand, this thing was packed abysmally (like rattling around in a big box with another *heavy* item the first time, so that the palettes weren't in their plastic slots by the time it got here, and just shoved into a minimally padded envelope the second), so it's my general inclination to give the product the benefit of the doubt. [This is also why I didn't bother to try to get the broken pan fixed a second time - my local warehouse is likely to pack that one poorly as well.] The seller was also incredibly responsive and went above and sent me another one very quickly. All things considered, no deductions for the broken elements - I can't be sure it's a product issue, and even if it is, the seller has proven that they're responsive to customer issues. All that to say that I'm reviewing this as if it arrived undamaged because I feel like that's the only really fair thing I can do. Well, that and to let prospective buyers know not to panic if they do get a broken piece because the seller will work with them. The case is cute, and the brushes are actually nicer than expected. The makeup is of exactly the quality you'd expect in this kind of kit at this price point - it's not going to be like a S3phora brand that costs $30 per four-pan palette or a $20 lip gloss or eyeliner. In context of reasonable expectations, it's perfectly fine and performs exactly as it should, maybe even a little better. Four solid stars, which, coming from me, is a very good score.
