When my microwave gave out, I went looking for a good quality replacement, and one that was more space saving than my old one. This unit is quite a bit smaller but certainly works great. There's just me here now, and no way I needed a full-sized machine. It takes a bit of checking out all the different settings and buttons, but I've gotten comfortable with the setting I need for my pot-pies and other goodies. One thing I should mention: When I was shopping for this, I noticed that this model has a child-proof door opening button. I, like other people who wrote in about it, thought it would be in the way, a problem to deal with every time I needed to open the mic. And I found that it wasn't problematic at all. The button is essentially a double, with two characters close together. You just have to put your fingertip on both characters and you're in! Easy Peasy! And you don't even notice it after that. This is a quality appliance and I especially like the enamel interior...much like a traditional oven. I replaced my previous microwave with this Sharp due to rust appearing underneath whatever the interior coating was. Works great, fits in the same place but is a bit larger. Easy to operate.

replaces a sharp microwave from 25 yrs ago (that still works), so they do last a long time. both are supposedly 1.4cf but the new one is smaller on the inside than the old one, about 1" depth and in width. i do like the grey interior on the new one better than the older white interior and that it doesn't have the seams along the bottom sides where moisture and crud can gather which caused eventual rust places on the older version. my only issue with new one is the spring behind the door button sticks and makes the button feel cheap. ... show more

I love love this microwave. It looks great, is a good size, 1100 watts is perfect and has several ways of programing the time. You can select the exact time for example 31 seconds that takes 3 strokes or you can press the 30 second button with 1 stroke.

Nice microwave. Works really well, heats food fast and makes it very hot quickly. Pretty quiet too. The light on the inside could be brighter, but overall I'm really happy with this microwave. My last microwave was a Sharp carousel as well, and that lasted about 30 years (and it's still going strong...I just needed a microwave for fusing glass, so decided to buy a new one for the kitchen). After trying a couple replacements for our old Panasonic mw and looking at many, we ordered this one and love it. Very high quality. Doesn’t do popcorn quite as well as the more powerful 1200 watt.
