I am an older woman, and religiously dye my grays. The texture and thickness of my hair have changed over the years, and now my hair is thin and frizzy. Frizzy from grays, and from overdyeing them. Believe me when I say I have tried every product (cheap and expensive) hair styling doo-dad and product out there, that claim to target my hair’s problems. Some I have had pretty good results with, and others? Not so much. My current regime is Pureology hair products for frizzy and dry hair, with the Revlon dry air brush. The Revlon gives decent results, but I could never, ever duplicate, or come close to duplicating, a professional blowout by my talented hair stylist. I just had to accept the fact that I am old, and younger-looking hair is not in the cards for me anymore. Enter this doo-dad. I was visiting my sister over the Christmas holiday, and she raved about this product. I decided to try it, and wow! My hair looked almost as sleek and beautiful as it does when I leave the salon! I don’t know if it is a combination of good hair products with this doo-dad that did it, but I was seriously impressed! I immediately purchased one, and am eagerly awaiting Amazon to deliver before I take my shower. Here is how I achieved beautiful hair. 1) Start by using the best quality hair product you can afford for your hair type. Don’t scrimp on this part of you can. Shampoo, hair conditioner, styling product, heat protectant, etc. 2) Divide your wet hair into sections. I turn the blowdryer mode on the hottest setting for my hair, and wrap each section around the brush until the hair is dry. I do this until my entire head is dry. At this point, my hair looks pretty good, but the next step is where the magic happens. 3) I then go over my hair in the same fashion as before , with the heat only setting on. Ahhhhhh! Gone is the frizzy and thin hair! In its place is shiny, wavy, slick hair that shows off the layers in my long hair. My Revlon dry air brush is now delegated back into my drawer, and I honestly don’t know if I will use it again. Also, yes, this product is a little heavy, but so was my Revlon air dry brush. It feels like a solid appliance to me, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

For me, it’s been working wonders! The heat settings are in proper temperatures, though I always use the lowest because “less damage”. It has been really easy to use, it leaves my hair really smooth and doesn’t make knots or rips my hair out. But of course, that has to do a lot with what routine you have and how well taken care of your hair is. Before using it I put on an oil for the temperature and the knots, it makes my hair soft and I wait for it to dry. The shark passes smoothly and does its function! And after I finish an anti frizz, and my hair looks lovely!

Photos are of my hair dried with FelxStyle and no product. I have long, thick hair that has varied texture. So when i dry or style it is a long process, but i can go 3-4 days in between washes. I have been team Revlon OneStep Volumizer for years and am on my third one. When shark announced a similar product it caught my eye because we are a die hard shark vacuum household. I was cautious about it, though, because I had tried the Shark FlexStyle and was disappointed. IMO FlexStyle fell short with ability to pull thick hair straight enough to adequatley straighten during the drying process. It didn't hold a candle to my beloved Revlon and I was satisfied that I had the best tool for my thick, multi-texture hair. Where Shark drew me back is the dry hair feature on the SmoothStyle. This is somthing I always wished Revlon would add, as I would frequently use mine on dry hair to reshape and refresh a 2 or 3-day-old dry. I know the hot air on dry hair can't be the best, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So how do they compare? I've been using SmoothStyle for a month. I definitely prefer it for the dry hair feature. It is great for adding volume and shape to dry hair. It is also excellent for refreshing damp hair (post workout or damp from the shower) or smoothing out dents from ponytail holders. In my opinion, Revlon still does a better job at the drying feature. I think my Revlon dries quicker and does a better job at straightening/smoothing during the drying process. I do wish that shark would add additional dry hair heated plates, or make the existing ones longer. My reccomendation is to give SmoothStyle a try. I think it all comes down to your hair type, but for me it is a great tool for freshening up dry hair. As a hair dryer/style-while-drying tool it is pretty good, but this is where I think my trusty Revlon takes the lead. Photos are of my hair after drying feature with no product.

I bought specifically for day 2 touchup and/or post gym. Loved idea of one tool to achieve both. Did not intend to use as wet-to-dry product. I usually use Dyson products, however, I have not been pleased with those lately on my hair type for any kind of day two styling. They only work for me after wash days, leaving Me sort of stranded for touch up styling the rest of the week. This product was bad for any hair. First, it immediately smelled like burning plastic. The smell transferred to my hair after only a few passes and this is on the blow dry setting only. Also, after one light use, there were brown streaks on the plastic, they looked like scorch marks, since they were not from buildup on my hair (like what you can see on the edge of a flat iron sometimes). I tried scraping at it with a nail and it was definitely in the plastic. Somehow this tool burned hot enough internally to make the odor and marks on its surface, but yet it still was not powerful at all on my hair. It hardly had any blow drying effect, and no end curling whatsoever. I’ve heard great things about the shark products, so I’m hoping this is just a flop for the first generation and the company improves, because the concept to have two and one is really great but this completely missed the mark and I ended up sending back without any more attempts because it truly felt like a hazard. I do not recommend this product to anyone based off of that hazardous experience alone, but even if that had not occurred, the product simply does not perform any task well. I could not imagine blow drying my hair with this with all the good products on the market, it would absolutely take forever. The smoothing plates also do not heat up warm enough for any styling effect, just enough to make the hair stinky. Hopefully this helps spare anyone from wasting their money on this product or damaging their hair.

I am a beauty junkie through and through. I have purchased so many hair tools over the years always looking for the perfect one. And I have found it. This dryer brush has given me the best results to date and I have tried them ALL. The weight on this is not bad at all. The drying and smoothing power on this brush is like no other. I do not feel it damages my hair with high heat like other brands and it gives it a smoothness that I have not been able to achieve with other products. The added feature of the smoothing comb built in was genius. I am able to get volume, smoothness and can go between straight or a blow out look with one tool. The only suggestion I would have is for the heated comb piece. You have to turn the dryer on and go through 3 speeds before you can turn that feature on. My fear is that it will eventually burn out the motor. My suggestion would be to make that the first feature option, and then be able to cycle through the different speeds. Not a deal breaker by any means, just a preference that I think makes more sense. If you are on the fence about this tool, just buy it. I have used this literally every single day since purchase and have eliminated other tools from my daily routine and it has made getting ready doing my hair significantly faster and more enjoyable. I get a consistent look each time. Very happy with this purchase.

If you want a product that you can use and not have to spend a lot of time but will look like you did, this is it. My hair went from just out of the shower to completely dry and straightened in 30 minutes. Of course, this will vary depending on the length and thickness of your hair. I have fine, right past my shoulder length hair, but have a lot of natural wavy curls. I love that I can dry my hair, straighten, and curl all with the same one hair tool. It also heats up very fast. My hair has never been this shiny, soft, and frizz free when using a regular flat iron hair straightener. It is a little large but not too heavy. My arm did get a little tired from holding it after a while but nothing too bad. It takes a little bit of getting used if you're not use to using a brush tool. You have to make sure to roll it through your hair so your hair passes both heating plates instead of just gliding it down your hair as you do a typical flat iron tool. I am definitely excited I purchased this product. It is well worth the money if you blow dry and/or straighten your hair frequently. Definitely recommend!

This tool is very easy to use and heats up well. I was able to do my hair in about 15 minutes, which was a huge time saver, and it worked well for daily styling. Unfortunately, it stopped working completely in less than a year of regular use. While I liked the performance when it worked, the lack of durability was disappointing given the price.
