  • New materials. Awesome product now!!!
Color: Coyote Brown
This is a replacement to my original review. This is the short version. I was originally not happy with the product but am now completely satisfied, can wholeheartedly recommend them, and would not hesitate to order from them again. Here is the full review. I had originally rated the bag with 2 stars because I had a problem when I first received the bag. The first design of this bag utilized an inferior product for the liner and for the waterproof closure on the main compartment. I had problems with it and I have seen several other reviewers here that have apparently had the same problem that I did. I also had problems reaching the Shangri-La Customer Service department. I returned the first bag that I purchased and replaced it with a Maxpedition Jumbo that was much more expensive. Since then, everything has changed. I received an email from Leon, the Shangri-La Customer Service Manager, who was very concerned about my problems. He asked what kind of problems I had experienced and if there was anything they could do to help me be more satisfied with their product. I explained what had happened and he let me know that they had realized quickly that there was a problem with the material that was being used and had replaced it with a much better quality material. Leon shipped me a new bag to evaluate and when I received a new one with the new liner in it...wow! It was a vastly superior material and the problem had been eliminated. In order to be willing to "re-review" the bag, I wanted to be sure that the problem would not be repeated with the new material and I tried to pull it apart, with far more force than actually using the bag would ever apply, and make the liner separate from the bag and was not able to do so. I can now wholeheartedly recommend this product and this company. The bag design is great! It is very close in design to the Maxpedition Jumbo but it is better. I now have both bags and have been able to closely compare them. The overall appearance of the bag is very similar to the Maxpedition but the Shangri-La bag has much more room in it. I tried to pack the Maxpedition for an overnight hiking trip and after putting in a first aid kit, rain jacket, Hydro Flask water bottle (I very much recommend this water bottle) and a few other items, it was full. I have placed the same items in the Shangri-La bag and there is still a lot of room left. There are many features to the Shangri-La that I like a lot better than the Maxpedition as well. The interior details of the pockets on the Shangri-La are far superior and much more functional than the Maxpedition. The outside has several adjustable bungee cords on it that can be used to secure items and has molle attachment points in more locations than the Maxpedition. I really love this bag and look forward to many years of use. I now would not hesitate to purchase anything from this company because I believe that their customer service department is dedicated to ensuring that their customers are completely satisfied and will work with the customer and do whatever it takes to ensure their complete and total satisfaction. ... show more

  • My EDC bag
Color: Black
This bag quickly became my everyday carry bag as it has a main pocket big enough for a rain jacket and a puffer while still having plenty of space in other pockets for additional items. On top of all that it has a water bottle pocket big enough for a Nalgene bottle. It is built with strong materials and is showing little to no wear even after I beat it up quite a bit. ... show more

  • Shangri-la messenger bag
Color: Green
The bag arrived in a clear ziplock bag that could have easily been unzipped and stolen. Thank you USPS for your honesty. The Shangri-la sling bag is everything thing I expected and more. Nice stitching, sturdy, very well made and so many pockets. It may be some time before I use it but hopefully I will figure out by then how best to efficiently stow my gear. I am very pleased ... show more

  • Great value.
Color: Coyote Brown
This bag mimics the maxpedition mongo bag. For less than half the price. It's a rugged bag and I use it for EDC. The zippers are good and I have not had any issues so far. It's a good size for EDC and fits and organizes a lot of gear. This fits in a casual office setting or in the wilds as a modern haversack. I did notice loose threads in some spots but it was not unraveling. It was just not cut tight to the material. I used a lighter to clean those up. All in all I would recommend this bag especially at the price. ... show more

  • Nice with a caveat
Color: Coyote Brown
That cover should really have some side flaps to help keep water and grit out. There is a “gather string” in the center, but rain will still get in there. Thought about sticking a plastic ammo box inside to seal it up. Put your gear in zip-locks otherwise. Using it for my navigation/field go-bag- Garmin handheld in the right-side enclosure, an Ipad with cell-capable connection (to get gps chip) and OnX and Garmin tread/Polaris apps in the top zipper compartment and smaller portable fan in the inside pocket. Assortment of charge cables go well in outer flap compartment. Will have first aid in there too and solar charger with usb c AA charger. Some survival bars and a small squirter for cooling water and I will be set. Obviously a desert-rat setup! ... show more

  • Amazing bag for quick access and the ability to accessorize!
Color: Coyote Brown
As an outdoor enthusiast and just a typical guy I really love my gadgets. I mean I REALLY love my gadgets. This bag has the ability to be the James Bond of the camera bag world. So much gadget potential. I am not going to lie, I love everything about this bag. In fact, I am finding it so perfect for my needs that I sold two much more expensive camera bags and pretty much roll with this one exclusively. Two things have always bothered me about my more expensive bags: 1. The bulk and the time it took to deploy/store the camera if I used a backpack. 2. The lack of additional storage pockets and versatility if using a standard messenger bag. This bag has solved both of those issues. It sits comfortably and securely across my body with a well padded strap. The main compartment easily fits my Fuji X-H1 with 100-400 telephoto lens attached, yet is snug enough to not flop around in there. I can add an additional lens or two in the side pockets along with any personal essentials all nicely isolated in their own space. The lack of a zippered closure for the main compartment may seem like a con to some but I love it. I can deploy in a split second and I have seen no evidence the equipment would fall out in normal usage. Far and away though is the modularity it can provide. I love molle attachments. I love to personalize a bag with the modules I will need and I own a lot of molle attachments. This bag can be as small and stealthy as a compact messenger bag but is also able to morph into an outdoor adventure beast. I have added a lot of additional pieces for my long hikes and loaded the thing down with hooks, latches, etc. Obviously I can't speak to long term durability but materials, fit and finish all seem up to par with bags i have paid three and four times as much for. It exceeded my expectations and fit the need perfectly. ... show more
