My husband is self employed and does metal work and mechanic repairs. He uses this when he has to be mobile and go to a client to fix a small repair. It gets the job done and worked surprisingly better than he expected.

Actually better than I expected. The mask leaves a little to be desired. It has a handle to hold instead of an elastic band around your head so you’re stuck only holding the unit with one hand. Not ideal for safety.

I don't have much experience with welding. My father had a stick welder and taught me how to use it once when I was a kid but that was the last time I used one and that was 40 years ago. I had two things that needed welding but I live in a very remote part of northern PA and the only welder I could find online is about 45 minutes away. Bot things I needed welded were large items so emptying my truck to load them up wasn't something I really wanted to do. I saw this listing and figured if it worked it would be cheaper than having someone else do it if I added up the cost of the job, the gas and time. To say I was impressed with this welder would be an understatement. The kit comes with everything you need in a fairly nice soft case. There is the unit itself, some welding rods and even some eye protection. I for some reason had a welding helmet so I never tried the supplied eye protection but it looks like it would do if you don't have anything better. I watched a couple videos online as a refresher and thought I would give it a try. The first project was a garden wagon that a piece had broken on the steering mechanism. I didn't even practice as I didn't have anything of a similar gauge. I set it at about the halfway point and within about 30 seconds it was fixed. Feeling emboldened by my success I tried the next project which was the dump trailer for my lawn tractor. This one was a bit trickier as it was the latch that released the bed for dumping. It required three welds close to moving parts The metal was about the same thickness so I used the same setting. My welds could've been neater but they worked and I could use my lawn tractor trailer again. I can't believe this thing works so well in such a small package. Considering I have little to no experience I was impressed with how easy it was to use also. This product is definitely more than worth the price.

The welder is so cool, don't need to throw away broken thing anymore, anything broken can be welded back together just with this compact welder that is not much bigger than regular drill. Quickly read the manual, put in included welding rod and tried it on random old pipes to train before getting to a broken chair. Comes in a nice case with protective gloves and mask, as well as plenty of rods and wire brush.

I took this over to a friend who is an experienced welding hobbyist. We both had our doubts. We did some simple welding tests - and this tool worked great! Read the directions (which are not extremely thorough) - and not the working times. I don't think this is the welder you want in order to build your own trailer, but it's great to do small repairs or to complete small projects. The welder arrives in very nice, firm-sided (not hard) case. It has everything you need: welder, rods, gloves, face shield with dark lens. You can pack this in your rv and go to exotic places knowing you can spot weld repairs as needed.

Do you need to quickly weld some metal without having to lug around your welding cart with its heavy gas tank? I DO! This portable welder has become my new best friend. I'm always using my MIG welder for one project or another. Now I can quickly grab this portable TIG welder and walk to any section of my yard, open the box, clamp the ground, and start welding. I tried it on a chain-link fence, and it worked perfectly. Decent weld for a portable machine. I didn't try it on any heavy metal, so I can't attest to how well it will perform. When I need to weld hinges or anything that needs a really strong weld, I will continue to use my big MIG welder because I can really dial up the heat. However, for small to medium-sized projects, I believe this portable welder will suffice. For about $100, you can't go wrong with this welder. Serves its purpose.
