The conversion rate between electricity and heat is over 98%, so it is more energy efficiently. It is only 120W power, but the highest temperature can be up to 158F and the heated area can reach 4 cubic meters.
  • Automatic Power Off: When the temperature reaches about 158F, the power will be automatically cut off for overheat protection. It is effectively protect the coop and chicken out of fire.
  • 2 Mounting Model: Wall-mounted and standing models for installing option. If the coop heater need to remove frequently, the standing model will be better; if you choose fixed place, the wall-mounted model will be best. There are screws and 10ft/3m power cord on the box.

I like this heater and was planning to use it outdoors in a large enclosure I was going to build for a stray cat for the winter. However, I realized my folly and that this cat will do better with a smaller space insulated with straw and a safe low-voltage heating pad all sold together by a company that sells stuff like that. So, back to this heater! I like it! I assembled it with the metal feet (they screw in securely for a sturdy pair of metal feet on the body of the heater). I have decided to use it indoors for the winter, as a way to heat small areas of the house while working. PROs: It is lightweight and portable. It is simple (just an on/off switch and no fussy "digital" stuff to contend with - bring back the simpler times when things just did what their main function is, without all this "connectivity"!!). It stands up well and the heat it creates is special in that it is a pleasant glowing warmth and not a blast from the fiery furnaces of the underworld. It's just ... a nice warm glow. It heats up the small bathroom in the morning, or, when positioned next to a human doing work at a desk or table for a few hours in a winter house, it lets you lower the overall house heat a bit. It doesn't emit any of the odors that are often found with new heating devices. This is important to some of us who don't like chemical smells, etc. CONSIDERATIONS: The black panel does get hot enough such that if you touch it, you could get a burn. Keep this out of reach of children, cats, dogs, and all critters. OVERALL: A definite yes. Very nice functional heater for a bit of extra warmth. Not for whole rooms, but definitely effective for warming someone close by, or smaller areas. ... show more

Literally only feel the heat if your hand is right next to it. I bought this product to place in my chick brooder. I do not recommend. Going back to the old fashioned heat lamp.

Came very quickly and was as advertised. Put it in a dog kennel for two short hair puppies that will be large. Seems to keep them warm on the cold days. The kennel is not insulated yet. Not drawing too much electricity. Uses about a KWH over the course of the day. I have it plugged into a sensor so that it comes on at 38F and goes off at 50F. May have to get another one for the chicken house. Seems pretty safe for the the dogs. ... show more

The Shaledig 120W Watts Chicken Coop Heater is a good addition to my chicken coop. I typically use heat lamps on my farm, until I found out that heat lamps are the number one cause of fires in farms. These are a great alternative to heat lamps. They do get quite hot. At the highest temperature, they will hurt to touch. My little chicks like it. They hover near it for warm. I got this heater for my greenhouse because it has a low energy usage and doesn’t get excessively hot. It has a really long, thick detachable cord and a simple on/off switch, but it does not have safety features like auto-shutoff on tilt. It does auto-shutoff at high temps. It is a radiating heat that noticeably warms the immediate area. My greenhouse is 10x7 ft so too large for this heater to heat completely during really cold nights, but I left it in when night temps were above 40, and the greenhouse stayed a few degrees above the outdoor temp. It gets too hot to touch, but it doesn’t hurt when briefly touching. I would not place it within reach of an animal or child. The highest temperature it says it can reach is 158 before auto shutting off, and that temperature is hot enough to cause burns. Due to the low energy use, I decided to try it for heating under my desk on cold mornings, and it completely warms under the desk without being oppressively hot like some space heaters.
