There is no string keeping the pen attached to the board so it's hard for a 2 year old in the car to keep something to color with as she drops everything eventually then I have to go searching. The multicolors are fun but there are too many drawbacks with this one. The "eraser" doesn't go all the way over on either side so when you color there is a white line on whichever side the eraser is on. Also after only a couple of days there are spots that won't hold color. It's been taken care of but I feel it hasn't held up well at all to very normal / light use. **Update** I didn't request it but the company offered me a full refund and didn't even make me return it. That was nice. However they then requested I remove my negative review which I'm not going to do because it doesn't change my opinion of this particular product. This is a great magma doodle! Our old ones had been crushed and were getting quite worn. I was unsure of all the colors being too much because I rather liked the black and white ones. But the colors are not too vibrant so as it doesn’t complicate it too much or detract from the actual image. They are subtle and surprising. And the kids loved the new twist. We use them primarily for homeschooling. We do pre-K & K work ok them. Drawing letters. Doing shapes. And writing basic words & numbers. I really love them for this use! Teaches mechanics of mastering a pen is also great for this age. And it’s practical and reusable. Highly recommend for creative learning & for learning basics of letters, numbers, & drawing skills. We especially give each kid one when we go on long car rides! Everyone has a manga doodle for road trips! And we got for about 10 hours with just these & books & a a few small toys. I bought this for my niece which is three years old, and an at-the beginning, she didn’t like but after few minutes she understood how to use it and like it. Updated (10/02/2018): The seller contacted me and help the solving this issue. Mazing customer service. If you have any problem they will help you. I like that the pen is attached to the board and the three figures that come with it (circle, square and triangle). I didn’t like that is made with cheap material. I feel that my niece will break it very easy and fast. Also, one piece (the square) fall, you can see the pictures. I will buy super glue to fix it. Furthermore, the purple color is now the same as the picture. In reality, it’s light. Overall, it is a good toy but it wouldn’t last long. In my case in less than 15 min one piece fall. ... show more

So I've been looking for a good magna doodle for my two-and-a-half-year-old. We opened it today and she grabbed it...within seconds and was on cloud 9!!! I like the size of it I did not want some little mini board. I wanted it big enough that she could color, draw, and use her imagination. I like that it's pretty straight forward, just a nice big magnetic board with the attached pen. It's cute how they also have all the different colors. It works just like I expected. The different colors are a nice touch. The attached pen is a must have for keeping it from getting lost. There are other similar toys that have the stamps etc which are not attached. I purposely didn't get one of those as I knew they would probably get lost pretty quickly. Kids can draw or scribble with no mess! Also is easy to erase with the slide lever. My 18mo granddaughter is too young for crayons (she eats them)... This is perfect for her! ... show more

Update 7 17 2018: the seller reached out to me after I returned the item and apologized for sending the model without the attached pen. They asked if they could send a replacement and I said sure!! The doodle pad arrived with the attached pen and my son loves it!! Amending my review because the seller went above and beyond with their excellent customer service!! I initially purchased this because although some of the photos don't show a connected pen tool, the seller assured other customers who asked about this that the doodle pad now had a connected pen. I purchased this item with the presumption that the pen tool would be attached, but sadly it was not. My son is only 18 months and does not have the dexterity nor the patience to put the pen back in the housing properly after use. This in mind, I sadly had to return it for a different model. I did appreciate both the large size of the pad and the neat multi-colored background. It also wiped efficiently/cleanly with the slider tool. It doesn't seem terribly durable, but if you have a kid who doesn't step on/throw their possessions, I'm sure you'll be fine! Our son is in a rather destructive phase, so even if the pen tool had been attached, I likely would have had to return it anyway because of durability concerns. ... show more
