I am turning my garage into a Woodshop and humidity in Texas is the worst! I added a mini split system a/c unit in my garage to help control the air. However it doesn't do much good when you are cooling the whole world because your garage doors let everything in/out. I have been looking for something like this at the big box stores, but they only have the owen's corning rolled vinyl faced stuff that uses stick pins to install. Pretty ugly stuff. I found some that was sort of like this, but it didn't have the vinyl face on it. I found this just searching on amazon and it seemed like it would be exactly what I needed. I have a 3 car garage, one with a double door and a single door. So I had to purchase (3) boxes of the Large size and it did the trick. The relief cuts they put on the back allows you to bend it into place, and the vinyl face on it seems to keep everything together. You don't need to be worried about man handling it, because that is what it will take to get a tight fit everywhere. You want it to be tight, so that where you don't have somewhere to tuck into the sides it can be tightly fitted and that it will hold in in place. This is especially important when you have a double sized door, as one panel will not cover the whole panel. Some double doors have metal straps that are in-between the panels that you could stuff this inside of. Mine did not have that, and I really didn't want to add any. Measure and add 1/16" to your measurement and it will be a tight fit. I did the double door 1st and when I got to the last 2 panels I could already feel a noticeable difference in my garage. It keeps the cold air inside!!! The smaller single garage door was a little trickier to install. All of the panels had to be cut, and on one side I had the metal framing that had to be tucked in on each side, plus tuck into the top and bottom. This took some persuasion, and when i found out that you could be pretty tough with this stuff and it isn't a problem. I pushed, bent, forced it into one side, and then got a rubber mallet to beat it the rest of the way. Once it gets over the metal, it just springs back flat. I have a few creases that was created by doing this, but I really don't care about that. It isn't really that noticeable, I just know it is there because I installed it. Can't say anything about durability yet, as it has only been installed for one day. So far I am a very happy camper though!!!

I ordered 2 boxes, each containing 8 foam tiles, for our double garage door. Tools required are a sharp utility knife, measuring tape, straight edge and a marker of some type. Make sure you use a new blade in the utility knife for easier cuts and less mess. Look at your garage door and remove any hurricane bars, lock chains, handles etc which might be in the way. In my case I simply had to unattach the locking chain from each side and remove its rotating handle in the center by removing a pin. Once the project was finished attach each end and reinstall the handle. As for the install it took me maybe 90 minutes total with my 4 year old son helping. :) I did the two center columns first starting with the center four then the top center two and the the bottom. The left hand column came next then over to the right hand side to complete the door. The left hand side and both center columns fit recessed in tightly behind the frame lips at the top, bottom and left side while the right side slides straight in flush with the frame. The right column has recessed edges on all four side which doesn't work and is noted in the instructions. I cut four pieces at 2.5" which fit behind the right side of the column flush with edge. Next cut the panels as the rest it fit in the right, top & bottom recesses and flush in tight beside the smaller 2.5" piece. I did not have to but decided to run a length of duct atone from top to bottom in those four right hand areas over the joint. Just a personal choice and wasn't required. Neatly done and hardly noticeable. The tiles are extremely durable and bendable! I'd start at a slight angle inserting the top left edge first and as much as possible then bending or cupping the panel insert the bottom left edge while straightening it out. Once most of the panel was inserted pull the right side out away from the hinge brackets and slide in towards the left and behind the lip. Bend the top in followed by the bottom until you finally fit the right side edge in. Watch the hinge brackets when you slide the panels so they don't catch and tear the slotted side corners. They are so durable and bendable that they can fit extremely tight. I cut the first 3 columns at 45 13/16th inches (instead of just cutting at 3/4") and the right edge fits in snugly against the frame. You couldn't slide a sheet of paper between any of the edges. So when cutting and fitting in cut to the exact size for a perfect fit! The laminated side looks great in our otherwise roughly finished garage which badly needs a painting! I was amazed at the easy & quick install, how durable the panels were, how tight they could fit in and that they could look as good as they do. The final raising and lowering test of the door showed that the panels remained in place with no movement. Perfect! I have 100% total product satisfaction with this! Completed photo included. I'd have moved the cars out but it was too cold to bother with. Enjoy!

Ordered 3 boxes for 1 large and 1 small door. Pretty easy to install, although I did need to remove the "hurricane bars" on our doors in order to install them. Easy to cut with a knife longer than a box cutter (I used an old, non-serrated steak knife). Being Styrofoam, there will be some small pieces flying around when cutting, but a little preparation (e.g., gently rubbing the cut ends into a nearby trash can) helps keep the pieces to a minimum. Installation gets a lot easier after the first few pieces. I also put some extra foam pieces (very small - approx 1" square) after installation under each side of each panel in order to raise them little, as the top of the panels are very close to the top of the panel opening on the doors - no big deal and they look much better. We live in Florida and our aluminum garage doors have a Southern exposure, which means hot. Big difference after these were installed. Before, we could hardly touch the inside of our doors on a hot, sunny day - now the doors aren't even warm. I rate the product 5 stars, but take 1 star off due to the packaging. The sheets are shipped in a regular "off-the shelf" retail box with no additional protection. A few of the sheets were misshapen a little, which is no great surprise considering how they were packaged. Since there were just a few minor creases to a few panels and no other damage, I went ahead and installed them and am glad I did. My only suggestion is to be careful when measuring/cutting, especially for the first few panels, until you understand how to cut the right size for your door. I found myself measuring twice before cutting many times, and a couple of times, avoided what would have been a major mistake. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

5 stars. These are great. Simple styrofoam but the one side is a hard semi textured plastic if sorts. Which I really like and adds a level of professionalism and durability. Installed 2 sets for a 2 car garage in about 2 hrs including clean up (shop vac the styrofoam from cutting). Very easy to install as they bend a bit and are forgiving. Make sure to measure each garage panel as they’re not all same size and also you’ll have to navigate screws or other obstructions Great product and seems to have knocked the cold down! Even just the look improvement was worth it

I installed two boxes of Matador Garage insulation at the end of July 2017, and I can say that it was a good investment of time and money, installation was really easy you measure, mark, measure again (just to make sure), you cut it (I used a pocket knife), and push it into its place, it took me I think two hours (two car garage door), and I damaged one board (I fixed it the best that I could but it doesn't look as good as the others, there are no extra boards, and even that I sent an e-mail to the company to see if I can buy only one or two, I never got an answer back) so you need to be careful. Besides that little hiccup (that was my fault), it is notable the change in the garage temperature, before the installation, it used to get really hot inside the garage because the sun was hitting directly the metal door during the whole afternoon, but now even that is still warm, you can at least stay inside the garage without thinking that you are inside a sauna room, but the most important thing is that the room on the top of the garage, now is way cooler ( a logical result but not considered by me when I bought the insulation kit), in other hand in low temperatures, the garage it doesn't feel like a freezer, and the room on the top is way warmer. Additional to this I compared my 2017 bills against 2016 (during the same period of time since I installed the kids) and my power consumption has been reduced and I'm saving an average of $10 by month, so in 1 year and a half, I will recover the cost of the two boxes. I will keep track of this during winter and will advise. I read some previous reviews, and I will agree that you will have Styrofoam flying around your garage for at least a couple of days, I used my vacuum cleaner two or three times, but now I do not have any. For my this was an excellent purchase, and my only regret is that I didn't do it several years ago.

Fits standard door panels pretty well. Only had to cut the length. It’s foam and breaks easily if you’re not careful bending it into place since it’s pretty brittle. It’s a little tricky at first but after you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy. The back is scored so you have a little flex to squeeze it in. Caution if you have single layer steel doors like I do. I sliced my finger pretty badly on the first panel (3 pretty bad cuts on 1 finger) because the steel door had some pretty sharp edges on the backside. This happened when the panel was flexed and as I was letting it go, my finger got caught right when the board stiffened back up when I let go. Please use some caution until you got the hang of it. I ended up using some thin gloves afterwords as a precaution. Ultimately it only took me about 1.5 hrs to do 2 doors. It would have been quicker but there was a small learning curve on my part. Other than that, my garage doors look so much better with the vinyl backing. Haven’t had a chance to see the insulating properties yet on an extremely hot or cold day but given the good fit of the panels, I’m pretty sure it will be better than my previously uninsulated doors. Panel size was a good fit, easy to cut and looks good and hopefully will insulate the garage some for a reasonable price. Easy DIY project.

I had high hopes about this insulation from reading other reviews. My experience did not bear out those same results. I live in the south and the sun shines on the aluminum garage door from sunup until about noon so temperatures in the garage get close to 100 deg. F. in the late afternoon. That makes staying in the garage unbearable for longer than a few minutes. So, I decided to give this a try. 2 boxes worked perfect for my double garage door. I had several support cross braces so those had to be removed and reinstalled as I worked from top to bottom on the door making the job longer for me. Luckily the Lord blessed me with some clouds and rain so the temperature was bearable the whole time. The insulation is plain old Styrofoam with a thick paper backing so be prepared for small pieces everywhere and try to avoid using a fan during the job. All I had to use was a razor knife to cut with and this worked fine, however it still made a mess. A quick run of the vacuum after each cut kept the mess down. The panels have beveled slits that allow the insulation to bend vertically while inserting. The entire installation took about 4 hours. Now the disappointing results...I measured the temperature in the garage for several days before and after the installation and I typically got a 4-5 degree lower temperature with the insulation than without. I did not get the 10-15 degree difference some reviewers reported. My panels were well measured and snugly fit so it is unlikely an install issue. The garage door is also well sealed around the edges due to the possibility of high winds so hot outside air getting in and skewing the results is also unlikely. The door was kept closed during measurement days.
