In addition to this Seville workbench, I own the GLADIATOR birch top workbench (both 6 ft), and the Seville is better than the Gladiator, even though prices for the Seville are generally much lower. Update after owning the Seville for 1/2 year: The Seville has two small drawbacks compared to the Gladiator workbench: (1) On the Seville, only the top of the front edge is rounded, while the bottom is square, and sort of sharp. On the Gladiator, both the top and bottom sides are rounded. (2) I sometimes fold my legs and push them up under the table, and on the Seville, the front side to side brace underneath the top, gets in the way. It sticks down around 1/2 inch. Original review: I was skeptical about picking up the Seville, since I love the absolutely rock solid sturdiness of the Gladiator. But prices on the Gladiator has gone through the roof, so I took a chance on the Seville. I've found that the Seville is every bit as sturdy, and has a nicer finish. The Seville has a wooden top made of whole boards going all the way across, while the Gladiator uses many short pieces (down to length of maybe 5 inches or so) of boards spliced together, giving the table top a sort of checkerboard appearance. This also shows as slight zigzag lines on the front edge of the Gladiator top. The Seville has a flatter and more polished / glossier appearance on the top. On the Gladiator, I can feel a slight waviness in the surface if I brush my hand from back to front. It's not visible and doesn't affect usability at all, but it's possible to feel it. The Seville has two metal braces going side to side underneath the top, and one side to side brace along the floor, while the Gladiator has one side to side brace and two front to back braces underneath the top. The Seville has only one bolt locking each foot to the desired height, while the Gladiator has two bolts. Note though that the Gladiator claims to support up to 3000 lbs, while the Seville only claims 1000 lbs. Not sure why there is such a big difference, since both have a solid wood top of the same thickness (1-3/4 inches), and the rest of the hardware seems equally well made on both.

This is a great table! It arrived yesterday and I was able to assemble it easily. I actually enjoyed putting it together because all the parts were so well-made and of high quality. Even the bolts felt nice! This table was packaged extremely well so that it arrived from a cross-country trip completely undamaged, even though the box showed signs of rough handling. Upon opening the outer box, I was happy to see that every piece was individually bagged, and protected by Styrofoam (which also helped to maintain the box's rigidity). I took each piece out to carry downstairs to our laundry room. When I had removed all the metal pieces, I saw that the hardwood top was packaged in its own box! This was very thoughtful, and helped to ensure that the top would not be damaged during shipping. The instructions were clear (you can also find a PDF of them on the manufacturer's web site) and showed pictures of the whole process. The hardware was in its own bag, and they also included a spare bolt and washer. Even though there is a tool included to tighten the bolts, I used my own 1/2 socket wrench to make things easier. I took my time and admired the quality of the parts and assembly method. It was very easy to build upside-down, and then I had help from a family member to pick it up and turn over. Of particular importance for me was the solid hardwood top, and I was not disappointed! It is about 1.5" thick and beautiful. Because of the nice packaging, there was not a scratch or blemish on it and looks very upscale. It is also very heavy. Most of the product's weight is found in the top, and I also had help carrying just that one piece down the steps to the basement. The bottom of the piece has metal-reinforced places where the leg bolts attach, which made it easy to put the bolts in by hand most of the way. By the way, don't tighten the bolts completely until you get all the leg pieces attached, so that you can make sure everything lines up. The legs and support piece are made out of a lighter-weight metal than I was expecting, but they seem to be sturdy. They are painted with a gray, textured material and have a pleasant feel. There are four adjusting screws with large handles that go through each leg from front to back and screw into a nut welded onto the back of each leg. It is definitely easier to adjust them when the table is turned upside down, so try to find your preferred height before turning it over. At the bottom of each leg, you screw in a leveling foot. I was amazed at the large size of the bolts on them! Most of them went in easily using the provided tool, but I had to work a little harder on one that had to go through a nut with too much paint on it. I'm very pleased with my purchase of this table, and highly recommend it to anyone that wants a high-quality, well-made adjustable table for use anywhere in your home. Pros ==== + High-quality parts + Easy assembly + Clear directions + Great packaging! + Wonderful hardwood top + Large adjustment range for height Cons ==== - It's not quite as rigid as heavier alternatives, but I appreciate the easier handling from the lighter weight. - The included tool works, but doesn't make it easy to tighten the bolts; use your own socket for that.

This is a substantial, solid work table. The wooden tabletop is thick and heavy and the adjustable legs framework is solid. It's sleek and nice looking as well. It weighs a lot, so you need two people to unpack it and set it up. It's got heavy duty adjustable legs with rubber bottoms to avoid scuffing your floor. They work well. Assembly is straightforward and simple. It even comes with a wrench to tighten the bolts. I have only two minor criticisms. The first is that, like many other people, mine arrived with two pretty big dents in the wooden table top along the edge. Given how heavy this thing is, it's perhaps not a surprise. There's a lot of Styrofoam padding in the shipping box, but despite this it got dinged up. So you should probably expect it to come with a few dings and dents. The second is that you have to flip the table upside down to adjust the height. So make sure you have it right the first time. You don't want to be fiddling with the adjustable legs if you can help it. This thing weighs like 125 pounds. These are minor issues though. I'm giving 5 stars for the general build and quality of the table itself. I'm using it for a workbench and I love it.
