12,000 BTU Unit - This is the 3rd floor model air conditioner I’ve purchased and I love it. The packaging was very sturdy. Heavy cardboard box, thick styrofoam padding and nylon straps outside the box protected the unit which was delivered in perfect condition. Unpacking was a breeze. One of the things I love about this unit is the exhaust hose is a heavy, more rigid plastic material that easily snaps into the unit. Other units like this came with flimsy exhaust hoses that needed to be stretched over the exhaust port. I always ended up buying heavier hoses and attaching them with large steel “worm” clamps. Not necessary with the SereneLife unit. The window insert is not as tall as others so it allows more visibility out the window but because of the size and characteristics of my window I had to raise it with a 1” board cut to fit the sill. I also had to trim about 4” from the slide out part for it to fit in my sill. Not a big deal. Took me a minute with my table saw but could easily be done with a hand saw. On a positive note, if you have a very wide window this will fit with no extra work. Also there is a tab to lock the slide expander j to place. I’ve never seen this on previous units. A convenient feature. Now to the important stuff - cooling the house… The unit easily cools my L-shaped living / dining room area as well as the attached kitchen. That’s about 1000 sq ft.. I do have 2 ceiling fans running at slow speed to help circulate the cool air. It is MUCH quieter than previous units I’ve owned. There is a feature that allows the cool air directors to slowly oscillate up and down. I don’t use it but you may find it beneficial. It has a sleek appearance that is aesthetically pleasing. The price was very reasonable for such a powerful, effective air conditioner. Now I’ll mention a few negative issues… 1. There is no screen to cover the outside end of the exhaust port. Depending on where your window is critters and debris can easily find its way into the hose. I’m going to make a screen cover for it. 2. The remote is pretty flimsy and there is no display. My other units had remotes that displayed the same info that is in the unit display. Also the lettering of the functions of the remote buttons is really tiny. 3. As stated, the window unit is very low profile and very wide. Depending on the design of your window you may have to raise the window insert and/or trim the width of the slide expander. All easy things to do but know that it’s possible. All and all I’m very pleased. ... show more

    • Super quiet, good cooling power

So quiet. Love it. The last AC I had was super loud, especially compared to this one. I've only used it for a couple of days so far, but so far I'm loving it. If things should change I will write an update. Honestly, I have to admit I had my son figure it out for me and he installed it. I guess one thing that I truly dislike, is that the window panel is not long enough or tall enough, even fully extended. I'd say about 10 inches short. I had to use, well for now anyways, a piece of cardboard and tape to at least cover the open gap. My window doesn't open up and down. It opens from right to left, and it's large. That is the only negative thing I can say so far. Like I said, my son set it all up, so far all I've done is turn it on and off. But I plan on reading the instructions booklet this weekend. It does come with a remote control. I mean the housing of any AC as far as I have seen are plastic, but given that, it does have a sleek, nice look to it. Other than the quietness, another thing I love are the shutters. The flaps that open when you turn the AC on and close when you turn it off. Pretty fancy right there. But, it also has a "wave" option, and the shutter, the flapers go up and down almost like a fan sort of speak, you can really feel the cold air "circulating". Pretty fancy. I live in a apartment that has the set up of a townhouse. Upstairs and downstairs. So far the unit I have is in the living room. It really does cool the room actually rather quickly. It's not like you get frost bite from the coolness (some days I wish these AC's would give the option for a "almost frost bite setting" but it really really does cool the space nicely. And again I haven't read the booklet for all the settings and temperature adjustment possibilities, so we shall see. My previous AC took a lot longer to cool the space. So basically so far I am happily giving 5 stars. Unit looks decent. Is very quiet. Has a "wave" option. Does have pretty good and fast cooling power. I will have to wait and see what the future holds. The AC unit I had before I had to place a circulating fan in front of it to actually distribute the cool air. I mean I could, to intensify the cooling distribution, but I don't have to, I can feel the cold air going all over without a fan in front of it. I would recommend to purchase this item. I want to wait a little longer and see if all stays good or gets even better. Then I will purchase a second unit for my upstairs. Of course I wish and maybe get lucky and get the second unit at a cheaper price. Wishful thinking. ... show more

We live rural and in temps no hotter than about 95 degrees for about 3 hours it really helps our 1000 sqft room stay perfectly cool. My wife would say cold. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the remote doesn't know what the unit is doing. So if I do not start the unit with the remote, when I finally go to use the remote after the unit is powered on manually it changes all the setting, meaning when its on low if you hit the remote it speeds the fan up from low to medium. I don't use the dehumidifier seems a hassle with dripping water into a bucket. Haven't felt the need yet. Id say its a really good machine. Overall its quiet, no louder than a wall ac in a hotel. not the window ac type the one in hotels where the panel is against the wall. It will freeze you out if you set it that low, I try to get some longevity out of stuff so we keep it at about 79 and its perfect. I've set it down to 65 and it throws ice cubes. Its a heavy unit at 14000btu but its on wheels so its ez to move around. The kit to the window didn't fit in my window very well, so I went to the dollar store and bought a couple pool noodles to even out and seal better where the kit didn't. I did buy another exhaust kit so I didn't have to keep removing from the main room to the bed room window. It was a good solution for me. We are enjoying having this AC makes our summer home even more enjoyable. I have to use a blanket to sleep when normally I only use a sheet. Love that!
