Ordered this for my husband who is the cook in the family. He prepares a lot of meat and though we have a Henckels knives they are 26 years old. What he needed was a comfortable yet good meat knife. As a vegetarian, the Henckels work very well for me. This arrived in a nice box ready for gifting, which is the way I went. No wrapping. Upon opening it we both smelled the quality of the leather. It took me back to the days working on my horse's saddle. I love that smell. He thought of high end leather shoes. Whatevs. To each their own. Removing the knife it looked, for lack of a better culinary work, pretty. It was unique with the silver and rakish black(ish) two tone blade. The handle arched back to sit in the palm of the hand naturally. The hole in the blade perfectly fit a finger for a stable, comfortable hold while cutting meat, veggies, etc. Under the blade is a curve for a wrap around of a finger, again to help stabilize and secure the hold on the knife while in use. My husband just loves this feature. He began with a pork chop then a steak, then chicken and then he got to the leg of lamb and lamb shanks with the knife easily sailing through them all without hesitation. My husband actually was having fun. The leather holster also gave my husband pleasure. He said he was going to hook it on his belt when he grills through summer. I cannot remember him ever wearing a belt in summer when he wears shorts at the grill but this should be enjoyable for me to watch. It will be like watching a gunslinger movie. Priced at $39.99 but currently running a coupon bringing it down to $31.99, this knife is extremely reasonably priced for how well made it is and how well it slices through meat. Without hesitation my husband recommends it.

I got this knife for my husband, and I have no doubt it is going to get a ton of use. He loves cooking, especially when it comes to preparing meats, and this knife is absolutely beautiful. It has a premium look and feel that makes it stand out from the moment you open the box. One of my favorite features is the genuine leather sheath. Not only does it look great, but it also has a snap-button closure that keeps the knife securely in place, making it much safer to store or transport. Everything about this cleaver looks and feels top quality. The sheath in which it is stored is made of rugged, genuine leather (you don't see that every day) with metal snaps. The cleaver handle consists of attractive, solid wood through which the tang runs the entire length. I very much appreciate that there's no plastic involved in this knife anywhere. This thing looks like it might last a lifetime. I also appreciate how balanced it is and feels. The shape of the cleaver combined with a well-planned center of gravity makes rapid cutting feel easy and natural. It also has quite an attractive, manly look to it. I haven't tried sharpening it yet, which to me as always a key test of a good blade. All of this plus the fact that it comes in an a really nice box, makes it a fantastic gift idea. If someone told me this was a $100 cleaver, I wouldn't blink, but it was less than half that amount when I ordered. Tremendous cleaver; tremendous value!

Man, this knife is no joke. Came sharp right out the box and been cutting clean ever since. I use it for meat mostly and it just glides through. Definitely a solid pickup.

This is a burley, heavy duty blade. It has really rough etching that looks awesome but is a little annoying come cleaning time. Here's my breakdown: Good: great handle high above blade chopping design. It can cut thick meats easily. The handle. It has a full tang handle with nice wood. The case. Its raw leather, but my goodness is it tough and legit. As I will use this for camping the case is great for travel protection. Sharpness. This is a very sharp blade and can easily cut off digits if you get distracted. Bad: no real finish on blade or handle. The finish is a bit underwhelming. While sharp, the blade edge has visible lines in it. It needs some better honing. All told, this knife is a great item. I know if I maitain it, it'll last forever.
