The media could not be loaded. The Commercial Fruit Slicer by Septree, is a very large, solidly built, manual slicer with easily achieved good performance. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – This looks and feels like a well-made slicer that’s solidly built to last. Its simple design and all metal construction lead me to believe that it should last me for decades of performance. II. Performance – It’s so simple and easy to use with a manual knob to adjust the thickness of the slices and a handle to turn the slicer as fast as you want. The 2 blades are sharp enough to slice very easily with fairly easy access to them for cleaning. It comes fully assembled except for the handle and suction cups as feet. Keep in mind that this is a large slicer that has a fairly large footprint on the counter if you intend on leaving it there. Overall, this is a fantastic machine for quickly and easily slicing so many things for parties or a dehydrator, as long as you like the manual approach. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it. If you’d find it helpful to see a visual inspection of this product, I recommend you watch my included video in full screen or landscape. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, well it’s a video! You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. The media could not be loaded. This particular food slicer is made of stainless steel and has two blades. The blades are very sharp and cut through vegetables, fruit and dried meats with ease. The slicers handle is nicely crafted and easy to attach. The slicer is also easy to disassemble, just need to pull the part out from the side which makes the front of the machine come off to easily be cleaned. The slicer is also easily adjusted to cut different thicknesses of produce by turning the knob a the center of the slicing wheel. The machine could use some plastic guard protectors for the rather sharp corners of the stainless steel and a lock to hold back the strong spring that pushes the produce forward to be sliced. I found it slightly difficult to load the produce while at the same time pulling back the putter. Overall the slicer is nicely made and slices produce efficiently. ... show more

Overall this is useful for slicing through a large volume of fruits and vegetables really quickly. However, in my opinion there are a number of things I think need some improvement. 1) The body of the slicer is made of folded sheet steel. This makes it strong but relatively light, however, the edges aren't rounded off so there is the ever present risk of cutting your hands when moving or disassembling the machine. 2) If you want to properly clean the hopper, you need to pretty much clean the whole machine since only the blade and feed assembly come off. It'll fit just fine into a commercial kitchen sink, but you might struggle a bit if you're using this at home. 3) The blades aren't completely aligned to one another, so if you need to cut vegetables into uniform thin slices, you find the slices between the two blades will vary in thickness. For example, I tried to cut an Asian radish into 1 mm thin slices. One blades cut the radish at the desired thickness, however, the other blade would start to cut the radish slice at an angle so one side of the other slice would start slightly thinner than 1 mm and it would taper down to nothing, failing to even cut a perfect circle cross section. I think this is best kept for slicing things that don't need uniformity down at a precise level. ... show more

I got this manual food slicer so I could do a lot of even cuts. It’s easy to put together and disassembled for cleaning. I really like that it’s made out of stainless steel and you can throw it in the dishwasher. It is easy to use in slices like butter. There are several adjustments for the thickness. I have invested in a smaller household versions of food dehydrators, but when I saw this commercial grade one I just knew this would be ideal when I really start having time to focus on dehydrating our homemade beloved beef jerk. This is very roomy and pretty straightforward to use. The buttons are touch based and do beep with sound. Highest temp shows 190 in Fahrenheit and goes as low as 70F. The time to dehydrate can be adjusted and goes as far as 24 hours. The sound of the fan isn’t much louder than my household counter style one - much like this one but again my other one is counter friendly. The one thing to note is it looks new & appears unused - but the rolling wheels had shown signs of wear- as it was wheeled across concrete already. Not gonna lie that bothered me why I docked a star.
