This little safe is great for travelling. After 3 years and 2 plane trips in a backpack, it's held up quite well. The anti-theft cable is a nice addition, although somewhat pointless if you can't attach it to something permanent. The only downside is the plastic inserts break easily or get stuck in the safe when you try to take them out. I put important paper, like birth certificates and passports in the bottom and then jewelry and other things in the insert. Setting the code was pretty easy. College dorm must have for important papers! Combo lock so no concern for lost keys. No kid wants a bulky safe but this box slides in the back of a drawer and all important documents are in one spot. I’m hoping not to test fire or waterproofing!! 😳 I am not sure how well this box would hold up to actual thieves trying to get into it as it doesn’t feel super thick but for a cheap, small protective box that would deter theft and loss, this is amazing! ... show more

I ordered this as a travel safe, to take with me on trips to store spare credit card and copies of my papers -- nothing valuable, but out of prying eyes. However due to my own miscalculation of the size, it was bigger than I expected, too large to take along. So I put it to another use. It's the right size to store CDs & DVDs; it holds 30+ of them (in thin sleeves, not jewel cases). I use it to store computer backups at a relative's house. I want to keep a spare backup of my important files offsite in case of a catastrophe, but I don't want anyone able to peruse my tax records, etc. This safe fits the bill. It could be opened easily with a screwdriver, but I'd know it was broken into. And the tether means it should stay put. (The tether could be cut with tin snips, but again I'd know.) I think that a nosy relative or visitor would be deterred from snooping by the fact that they'd be found out. So I'm happy with the purchase. The safe arrived on time, correct price, in excellent condition. The set-able combination works fine (though I've only opened it a few times). The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the safe wouldn't be difficult to get into. Using it as I am -- basically a knowledge deterrent rather than a hard physical deterrent -- it's a great product. ... show more

If you are looking for lightweight sturdy durable safe, then this is the safe for you. It is compact but has plenty of room for cash, medical and credit cards, and prescriptions. It also comes with a cable so you are able to secure your safe virtually anywhere. I don't ever have to worry about my grandchildren getting hold of our RX and possibly harming themselves. It's also great to just pick the safe up and take it with you when you travel I just put my safe in the RV secure it with the cable and I'm done no worries. It is a comfort knowing that if anything happened to one of us, we got sick and needed medical attention we know exactly where our medical information is, and our Rx too. There is no need to be going through drawers and luggage trying to find all of this information when it's already tucked away in a safe place. When we want to go sightseeing we put our credit cards, cash, checks and wallets, in our safe and again no worries and we can enjoy our time admiring the scenery. Plus the bonus of having a 3 digit combination no worries about losing keys and being unable to get into your safe. This safe is very reasonable for the price you get a strong durable safe that isn't a hassle to move to one room or to another place. The cable is very strong and durable. It is a comfort knowing that you're safe is not going anywhere I would definitely recommend this safe to others, in fact I already have recommended the safe to a friend of mine. ... show more

I hate this product so much that I decided to actually take the time write a review. After 10+ years of Amazon, this is my first review. Perhaps that will help you gauge how horrible the product is. This thing is simply junk. Thankfully the return process is easy so it is already on it's way back. At $15 I thought about just throwing it away. There are several reviews that say "pretty good for $20" or "I wasn't expect Fort Knox". I get that but I can't see any reasonable use for this item. In the attached picture, the box is actually locked. I am barely squeezing one side of the box and the other side pops open. Forget needing to pry with a thin knife or screwdriver. You could easily fit just about anything in there to pry it open or simply shake it to get out small items. I have better quality safes in the cars to lock up weapons but I was looking for a small combination box to take on vacation to secure cash and passports in the room. This is not it. Just do yourself a favor and don't even bother with it. FYI gun vault makes a 300 model with a dial lock but the locking mechanism is held together with plastic pieces that can break. I didn't know this until having used one for 2 years. Mine broke unexpectedly and I saw the weak link of the system. The unit gives a much better perception of security than the SentrySafe (from the outside) but it is not a robust design if someone tries to get in. The Gun Vault keyed units (100 and 200) have all metal locking systems. Just thought I would share since if someone is looking at this one they will probably check out the other one as well. ... show more

The safe is well made, and perfect for the price, but if you forget your code to enter, or in my case, the lock malfunctioned, you have to break in it to get your valuables out. The product should be made with a key to get in, I am out the money, but it really is a good product if you have key access, thank you! ... show more
