First off, and all my fault, it’s actually smaller inside than I thought it would be. I should have done my homework. That said, it appears to be pretty strongly built and I doubt that it can be easily pried open. But, it’s light enough to be fairly easily carried off so I plan to anchor mine shortly. Zero unsightly or uneven gaps around the door, and also zero damage during shipment. I did not know, and I was surprised that you can only use a four digit code. Not a big deal, as I assume that it would be smash and grab sort of a situation if someone broke into your home. Overall, at the price, I am very happy with it and highly recommend it. I have a similar safe distributed by this company. This is about 2/3 the size of the one I own but works same way. It comes with 4 tiny screws that you should throw away, drill through the thin cabinet metal and buy 4 larger durable bolts to screw into studs of wall. It will not last in fire. For what one pays, it will meet ones need for jewelry or home protection ... show more

    • If your safe wont power up..........
Ok, seems like a decent safe. Just like used in hotels/resorts. BUT, has some quality control issues. First safe I received was doa. I didn't feel like troubleshooting it and amazon returns are easy so I returned it while amazon sent a new one. Smooth transactions less than a week later new safe delivered. SAME problem dead on arrival. This time I didn't want to go through another iteration of dropping off at ups store etc. So I broke out the multimeter and screwdriver and started investigating the trouble. No power getting from the battery pack to the control board. Trouble shot the battery pack. Here's the problem the springs that contact the positive of the battery are too compressed and don't allow the batteries to make good contact. Fix: simply use a small screwdriver to pry out the positive springs so they make contact with the battery. Hope this helps. Since I got two safes in a row with the same issue I'm certain it's quite common. The manufacturer's QC probably tests the board and safe functions but most likely they dont load batteries in and check it. ... show more

Listen, for $89 you’re not getting Fort Knox. Just understand that and you’ll be satisfied. This is indeed a secure little safe that is easy to use for the money. Good to lock up cash and a few valuables, and can be easily concealed on a bookshelf.

This is actually the second one of these safes I have bought. I have them both stacked together for gun storage. The access code is quick and works flawlessly. The batteries never die in these safes (4 AA's) but I go ahead and change about every year just to avoid having to use the key backup. The card reader works perfectly too on either drivers license, credit cards or whatever has a magnetic strip on it. You can use either a combination or magnetic strip VERY easily when locking the safe each time. You also set the combination each time you close it so you can decide to make a change every time you lock it. Super easy and very nice functionality. I would DEFINITELY recommend these safes as they are perfect for what I use them for. ... show more

"Bolts" are just short, fat screws. It is insanely difficult to screw in the ones on the bottom of the safe, I had to use my smallest screw driver and it still didn't fit vertically. I had to hold the screw driver diagonally, which sketched me out because I'm not sure how secure the screws are. Other than than and the key card access being a joke (read the other reviews about it for more info.), this safe is amazing. It's heavy (in a good way), thick, and looks exactly like the picture. I suggest checking for open box or lightly used products on the website if you can't exactly afford this price. I only paid around $50. ... show more

I purchased this safe for storing small items and chose it due seeing it had a motor drive for the latch rather than a solenoid. Two concerns from reviews of similar safes was whether the lock could be "bounced" open or be opened by manipulating wire through the manual key hole. I removed the internal cover and found that the latch is motor driven, not blocked with a solenoid. The lock cylinder is also enclosed and unlocks by moving the sled/chassis that mount the motor and latches. This safe should be proof against those two exploits The safe itself is made of heavy gauge steel, but the back of it looks a bit lighter and is spot-welded in place. This is a potential weak spot. For the price and the purpose I think this safe would do the job of keeping curious children and adults out, as well as smash-and-grab thieves. ... show more

if you are looking for a safe SAFE , then this one is the solution. it has Key,Card and Code access. you can program any card, and no other card will open for sure. its system was in the inner side of the door, you need a batteries it has a backup system in case the inner system has no power, it is separately can be connected to a hidden pin and can be saved anywhere , only a batteries need. it has a light inside once door opened. the supports of the door was designed inside the safe, so the thief can not use a grinder to cut it in case if it was outside. heavy, sturdy at all two strong lock. you can bolt it down or on a wall, you have the two options really i recommend, there is a white color of the same safe, if i saw it i would take, but this is O.K more than 5 starts ............ ... show more
