I haven't lit this on fire or soaked it in water, so I can't speak to its resistance to those elements. However, I was really impressed at how heavy duty this pouch is. It feels like quality, sturdy and thick. I am using it to store paperwork and some thicker items, and it accommodates both letter sized and A4 sized paper. The satchels have a zipper and a flap with 2 buttons that close over the zipper. Nicely made. Hope they never have to be tested with fire/water. Will buy some more of these for other important papers.
