  • hard to complain for the price
I have a few SensForge cameras now (a general outdoor camera, a dedicated "bird feeder" camera, and now this "inside window mount" version). I've been using them with their app for almost a year now, so have a pretty good feel for the ecosystem and behavior. A few high-level observations: * They sell these things at very reasonable prices. You're not out a lot of money if you want to give them a spin. * They're still trying to work out how to make money via subscription models, wherein by paying a monthly fee, you get extra AI-driven "event" detection descriptions, cloud storage, etc. BUT (and critically), for now, you can still use their cameras and app with zero subscription, if you're fine with basic functionality. I've never done any of the subscriptions. * For the price, I'd say they hold up just fine. The two outdoor cameras I'm using are still working fine after a year outdoors. One is solar panel charged, and the charging has worked flawlessly. On to this particular version (the one designed to stick to a window surface)... I think they've attempted to build in some image processing on this one to filter out glare. I'm not entirely sure how they do that, but I will say that I was happy with the clarity of images with the camera mounted on the inside of a window and looking outside -- both day and night. The camera comes with a single adhesive-mount camera holder that is designed to stick to the window surface. The camera then clips into the holder. I've tested it, but not actually adhered it to a window, as it looks like the adhesive would be semi-permanent, and I haven't decided yet where I want to stick this. But that's okay, you don't strictly need the window-mount holder. The camera also has a standard tripod mount on the bottom, which gives you options -- or you can just set or prop it on a sill and get decent results (glare reduction will be best with the little mounting frame, though). On "detection" capabilities, I'm sort of on the fence. When I got my first two cameras, the detection seemed very good, even on the "free" (no subscription) model. I could adjust the sensitivity and I got notices whenever motion was detected, with generally correct high-level categorization (e.g., animal, human, vehicle). As time has gone on, I feel like these (all three cameras) have stopped giving me reliable detection notices. I don't know if this reflects hardware issues with the cameras or whether they're dumbed down the algorithms in the software to try to encourage people to bump up to paid tiers, but in any case, I no longer count on these to reliably push notifications to me -- so if you're really relying on this (or their other cameras) for notifications, I can only give these a mixed review (great at first, now not so reliable). For an ecosystem that relies on wifi access, doesn't force a subscription, doesn't require any hard-wiring, and is very affordable, I still recommend these cameras highly. But you may need to play around with the software settings to get reliable detection notices, over time. ... show more

  • This SensForge 1080p window camera does not work well except in night vision mode.
This SensForge 1080p window camera has some issues. The biggest one is that when it's not in night vision mode, it has horizontal bars moving down the screen of its output video. No modifications to the settings fix this, though setting the hertz to 50 instead of 60 causes the bars to move down the screen at twice the speed. The moment it switches into night vision mode, the bars disappear. In my attempts to get rid of the bars, I talked to AI about it, and it suggested that I had it plugged into an adapter that was causing electrical interference, but I have it plugged into nothing and it's running on battery power. I have 3 other SensForge cameras and all of them work wonderfully. This one has the lowest resolution of all of them. If SensForge manufactures cameras with 2.5k resolution, I'm not sure why they would produce one with only 1080p resolution. I would still love to use it, despite the lower resolution, but the horizontal bars make it practically unusable unless you're using it in a dark area where the bars don't show up. Considering it's a window camera, it's good for night security, but not for day. It will still work in the day; the footage will just be corrupted by horizontal bars. Pros: - It uses the same app that all SensForge cameras do, so you can monitor it along with them if you've got multiple SensForge cameras. - Just as with all SensForge cameras (that I've so far experienced), it offers 2 days of free cloud storage, along with the option to add a micro SD card. - AI detection with notifications sent to your phone. - Quick and easy to set up. Cons: - When running in a lighted area, it has horizontal bars running vertically down the screen of the video output. It only works properly in the dark when it's in night vision mode. Conclusion: This SensForge 1080p window camera does not work well except in night vision mode. In day mode, it has horizontal bars moving down its video output. I have 3 other SensForge cameras and none of them have this issue. While the AI detection and free 2 day cloud storage are nice perks for this camera, it's not a good camera unless you're going to use it mainly for night security to avoid the ever present daytime horizontal bands. For being only 1080p, and also for having the horizontal bars issue, I cannot recommend this camera. At $49.99, it's overpriced for its resolution. I recommend getting a different, higher resolution, SensForge camera and just mounting it behind the window rather than mounting it to the window. SensForge's other cameras are top quality. This one, unfortunately, is not. It's a black sheep of the SensForge product line. ... show more

  • Excellent Camera for Straight On, Fixed View Recording, Easy to Use App, Quick Setup
I have 2 SensForge security cameras - one rotating camera requiring a power cord and the other a rechargeable magnetic mount that does not rotate. I needed an additional one for a particular location and saw that this attached to a window and was also rechargeable so thought I would give it a try as the location where I needed to mount it is far from a power outlet. Like my other Sensorge options it connects easily and immediately with an app and allows me to adjust settings for the amount of recordings and what type of object to scan for - human, pet, vehicle, etc. It allows me to set notifications preferences, frequency of recording, set a viewing perimeter, view live, event and history recordings and batch process them to keep things tidy. It comes with 2 days of cloud storage and allows you to add an SD card as needed for local recording. I don't need long term storage, just a days worth to verify traffic and activity so this functionality is perfect and economical for me. The two things that are important to note about this particular Sensforge style. While it is a flexible option in the sense that it is rechargeable so doesn't need to be stationed by an outlet, it is a fixed view camera. It does not have the flexibility of my corded model that rotates and adjusts when it sees a person approaching the door. And it doesn't have the convenience of the magnetic mount that allows you to reposition it in different locations or tilt it up and down as needed to provide a more panoramic view of the field of vision you desire to record. This camera is for those locations where the window where it is mounted provides a clean view of the path you want to record. Once attached with the included adhesive mount, the camera is in place and additional adhesive mounts are not provided. I used duct tape to temporarily position the camera over several days to ensure I had the right view prior to mounting it. Once it's in place the view is crisp and clear. This is an excellent camera and works well with the app to record what you need it to as long as it is right in front of the camera. It is rechargeable and as I have mine mounted in the window lights over my door, I have to use a step stool every 2 weeks to retrieve it for charging. I may order a 15 foot USBC and run it down the side of the door and along the baseboard to an outlet for convenience sake. In any case, this is an excellent security camera and the app is very easy to use and adjust. It is a great option for very specific locations and applications. ... show more

  • Solves a typical problem
I already own a few SensForge cameras, and they’ve all performed well for me, so I decided to add this one to my system. I had been wanting to mount a camera inside a window for quite a while, but every camera I tried previously suffered from reflections and glare, especially at night. This camera is specifically designed to address that problem, and it does a much better job than a standard indoor camera placed against a window. One feature I really like is that the app actually asks whether the camera is being mounted in a window. When you enable that option, it adjusts the image processing to help reduce glare and reflections. It’s a thoughtful feature that makes a noticeable difference and is one of the reasons I chose this camera. Even though it’s optimized for window mounting, you’re not limited to that installation method. The camera includes other mounting options, so it can easily be used on a shelf, wall, or other indoor location if your needs change later. Since I was already using the SensForge app, setup only took a couple of minutes. The camera was recognized quickly, connected without any issues, and integrated seamlessly with the rest of my SensForge devices. The app provides a good amount of customization. There are plenty of options for motion detection, notification sensitivity, recording preferences, and other settings that let you tailor the camera to your particular environment. Motion alerts have been timely and reliable, making it easy to keep track of activity. This camera makes a good security camera. Storage options are flexible as well. There is a limited amount of cloud storage available, and you also have the option of installing your own microSD card for local recording. Just be aware that a memory card is not included, so you’ll need to supply one if you want local storage. The camera itself appears to be very well made. The housing feels solid, the mounting system is sturdy, and the overall build quality is on par with the other SensForge cameras I own. The image quality is clear, and everything has worked exactly as expected. Overall, this is an excellent indoor camera, especially if you’re looking for a solution that can be mounted in a window without the glare issues that plague most traditional indoor cameras. The easy setup, flexible mounting options, reliable app, and good image quality make it another solid product from SensForge. I’m very happy with it and wouldn’t hesitate to add more of these cameras in the future. ... show more

  • Works pretty well after a few adjustments
I've had a couple of lower priced WiFi cameras over the years that were pretty underwhelming, so I wasn't expecting a lot from this rechargeable window cam. The idea is great; cordless camera that mounts to the inside window so it's more secure than being outside. The camera itself is built sturdy and has a bit of heft to it. It pops into the window mount which itself is fastened to the window with 3M adhesive tape. I wasn't quite sure exactly which window I wanted this on so I just propped the camera and mount on the window sill and it stayed in place just fine. I charged it up completely and downloaded the phone app, and then put in some basic info to get started. I like the fact that you don't need to subscribe to a paid app in order to use the camera for basic functions. Connecting it took just a few minutes and the picture popped up in the app. I was surprised at how clear it is for a 1080P camera with a wide view that covers my entire back yard. I took screenshots through the app in the afternoon, evening, and after dark. At first, the after dark pics showed 4 bright lights in the shot and you could not see anything else. After poking around in the app I turned off the infrared fill lights which fixed the problem. Apparently they reflect off of the window and overwhelm the video, so you might want to turn them off if you plan on using it at night. The pics at dusk were awesome and even boosted the remaining light so you could see more detail than with the naked eye. The night vision pics are about the same as my Ring camera and are clear enough to make out basic features (and incredible star fields!) The only issues I had was with updating the firmware, which kept stalling and never did update, and formatting the micro SD card, which also did not format. I will try a different SD card as soon as I can find one, hopefully that will make a difference. All in all this is a nice compact camera at a very attractive price. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Can window mount using adhesive ring or has 1/4-20 threaded fitting. Easy setup. Good settings.
SensForge is a company I trust for wireless cameras with multiple camera options. This camera has versatile placement options including using the window mount to mount on glass or using the 1/4-20 threaded insert in the bottom of the camera to mount another way. Included with this is the camera, the window mounting ring, USB to USB-C power charging cord, and a user guide. The camera is rectangular and fits into the window mounting ring. The front of the camera is black and looks plain. The rest is white plastic. There's a power button on the back side as well as a speaker. On one of the sides is the connection for the USB-C charging cord as well as where you can insert an SD storage card. On the bottom side is a metal threaded insert that uses standard 1/4-20 thread. The serial number and QR code for adding to the app is on the top side of the camera. With the mounting ring, the camera measures approximately 3.7" in width, 3.2" in height, and is 1.7" thick. Setting the camera up you plug it in and charge it. There is a red indicator light on the back side while it charges that then turns blue. To add it to the app you scan the QR code and then push and hold the power button to turn the camera on. Then follow the on-screen instructions. A neat feature on this camera is you can select "Window Mode", "Freestyle Mode", or "Wildlife Mode". A problem I've had in the past with other cameras mounted near a window is the infrared lights reflect on the glass and you can't see anything other than the reflection. Window mode turns off the the infrared night vision. Camera performance has been great. And I love the AI descriptions you get with events on this camera. I believe those descriptions are part of the "Pro" paid membership. For power consumption if you have it always on it goes through the battery however there are several options for more battery friendly modes. And you can leave a power cord connected at which point battery life isn't an issue at all. I love the flexibility you get with this camera. ... show more

  • The Raccoon Whisperer 1080p Edition
The 1080p window camera showed up looking innocent enough, but don’t let the tiny size fool you, this thing acts like it’s applying for a job with Homeland Security. I stuck it on the window with the no drill mount, expecting the usual “why won’t this stay straight” fight, but it went on so easily I had to double check that I didn’t accidentally hire a handyman. It’s wire free, battery powered, and basically allergic to hassle. If every home gadget installed this smoothly, I’d have a lot fewer holes in my walls and a lot more confidence in my DIY skills. Once it powered up, the camera immediately started behaving like the neighborhood detective. It spots humans, cars, and animals with the enthusiasm of someone who’s been waiting their whole life to say, “Aha! Movement!” The smart detection is surprisingly accurate, it doesn’t panic every time a leaf flutters by, which is great because I don’t need my phone blowing up over a breeze. But when does something real happens? Oh, it lets you know. Loud and proud. The storage options are refreshingly simple. You get a couple days of cloud storage for free, which feels like the camera saying, “Relax, I’ll remember everything.” And if you’re the type who trusts physical storage more than the cloud, the SD card slot is right there waiting to be your tiny digital vault. Between the two, you’re covered whether you’re a “tech cloud wizard” or a “my data stays in my house” kind of person. The two way talk feature is where things get entertaining. There’s nothing quite like yelling “HEY!” at a raccoon through a tiny speaker and watching it freeze like it just got caught stealing snacks from the pantry. It’s also great for telling delivery drivers “thank you!” or warning suspicious squirrels that you’re watching. The audio is clear enough that you don’t sound like you’re broadcasting from inside a tin can, which is always a win. Overall, this little window camera is like a polite, hardworking security guard who never complains, never asks for a raise, and never takes a day off. It’s easy to set up, easy to use, and surprisingly good at keeping an eye on things without being dramatic. If you want a tiny guardian that watches your yard like it’s guarding the crown jewels, this one does the job with zero attitude and a whole lot of enthusiasm. ... show more

  • Only really useful for a driveway
I have a couple other SensForge cameras that I love, but this is the first one I have had issues with. For some reason I can only get the picture to show in infrared, and I have not been able to get a normal color image at all. The field of view is also extremely tight. It works fine if you point it directly at a driveway or one specific area, but it does not capture much around it. The picture is still clear and the SensForge app is great, but this camera feels much more limited than the others I own. ... show more
