These headphones are well made, comfortable and reproduce a good range of sound accurately. The foam rings fit completely and comfortably over my large ears, which was a concern when I was considering this purchase. The cups are clearly marked L and R. The weight is moderate for OTE headphones. The pressure between the cups is enough to keep them seated on your head without causing a pressure headache. The sound is very good. The bass response will NOT blow you away, but it's adequate. I use these for watching movies and listening to MP3 files late at night and to plug into my guitar amp when practicing (a MUST in an apartment complex with paper-thin walls). The jack adapter is a GREAT feature. I've used a lot of OTE headphones over the years, some quite expensive and others, not so much. I'd rate these near the top of the ones I've used. These are exceptional headphones for the price and they go on sale often. Although they're all plastic, I think they feel well built and will last many years. Clamp force is perfect and they are some of the most comfortable headphones I've worn. The sound is classic Sennheiser but with more refinement. They remind me a lot of the hd 600 but more neutral and with better bass extension. With all of that said, I believe the HD 550 is worth the extra money. It leans slightly warmer which takes away the little but of fatigue that the HD 505 has in the upper mids and also fills out the bass that can feel slightly lacking at times on the 505. If you have access to EQ and prefer the copper color then go for the HD 505. Otherwise I would recommend the HD 550. Be patient as they go on sale often ... show more

Greatest headphones ever. I consider myself somewhat expert in audio. I have a lot of experience with good audio equipment. I find these to be both affordable and extremely great sounding. Comfortable fit too. No complaints among the best out there.

Perfect compliment to my home stereo system, they fit my ears and I have experienced long periods of easy use. They look good and most importantly they sound very good for the price point. Not over the top like the Bose headphones but these won’t destroy your billfold. One single drawback; the cord is rather short. You must be fairly close to your Amplifier. Would I buy these again? I read and read and read and finally got sick of the back and forth and audiophile language that was way over my head. I try to research everything I buy when possible but there are some things that I can't understand without a whole mess of learning. So long story short I bought these. At least for me they're really expensive. They were a big purchase. But now I've got em' on my head and holy smokes I might never plug my speakers in again. This is freaking amazing. I've never heard sound like this. It's so good. I literally got distracted trying to proofread this review because the chorus hit on The Guilty Party by While She Sleeps. The audio quality actually made me forget how to read for a second. I'm so freaking happy. This is my first set of proper headphones, and I am beyond impressed. Also the cups go completely over my ears so they're really comfy. I do have to get used to the cord but I'll figure it out. I'm 33 and have literally never used an over ear headphone for more than a day. These are so comfy. The sound is actually mental. I can't even imagine what those really expensive headsets sound like. VERY pleased with my purchase so far. My 2021 M1 Mac (that I thought was a beast) has an under performing headphone jack. Low power from Apple for these headphones. I have an amp on the way, and can't wait to apply some heat to these beautiful headphones. For my ears... everything is accurate and pleasant so far.
