Update: I purchased an additional set of 2 bulbs and hub. The hub supports wireless internet unlike Hue hub allowing it to be placed in a much more central location for the bulbs. Also it updated firmware for the bulbs which seems to work better for me, even with Smartthings Hub. Sengled hub supports IFTTT, Alexa and Google Home but doesn't connect to Smartthings via Hub. Only Sengled WiFi Bulbs are supported for that. I wish they add support for Sengled Hub to Smartthings Hub similar to Hue system. I mostly used Hue and Lightify bulbs around my house. I wanted to try out Sengled as they are widely available and seem to be good value for money. When one of my Lightify bulbs burned out, I tried Sengled in its place and I am happy with the results. The color accuracy is good, but we lose a bit of brightness when using any colors other than the default warm white. But it is in a location where I rarely use colors so it is not much of an issue for me. It connected promptly to Smartthings and is fairly responsive. It does return to its last state when power cycled which is a complaint against my Lightify bulbs. Also I noticed that these lights don't act as zigbee repeaters but Lightify bulbs were bad repeaters and were causing instability in my network. I will surely purchase more of this brand.

tldr; a great bulb to provide color lighting without adding yet another hub. Over the last few months I have been looking for a way to bring smart home color lighting into my household. I have a SmartThings Hub, and I wanted to add any lighting that I brought into the house to that hub. I have a strong tech background, so I did a lot of research into solutions that required little work, and some that were hacking together different smart home products and services. Philips Hue bulbs were expensive, and required a proprietary hubs for the best quality. Sylvania bulbs appeared to have a 50-50 shot of being good, or total garbage. I was about to give up and buy into the Philips bulbs, until I saw that Sengled finally released color bulbs. I had already bought several light bulbs from Sengled, and found that they were all of good quality. I usually don't buy things with many reviews, but I decided to give this one a chance. I purchased one bulb to test. I purchased another bold because the first one looked great. I imagine that I will be buying many more in the coming months. The color quality is good, the brightness is excellent, and the setup was quick and painless. I have single bulb fixtures in my hallway that I wanted to be able to turn them daylight white during the day, a soft white at night, and gradually bring them to a dim red in the late night. These have fit that role perfectly, and bring just as strong of light to the hallway as the old standard bulbs did. My only complaint about these is that their integration with Alexa through SmartThings is not exactly perfect when it comes to choosing some colors (e.g., "Alexa, hallway lights to red" gives me pink). Don't let that scare you away, though-- the colors adjust correctly through SmartThings, displaying a great range of colors, and I have been able to program them into scenes perfectly. If it were not for the price, I would quickly order several of these and replace many of the white and soft light smart bulbs that I have in the house with these. For now, I'm happy to occasionally bring a new one into the house--which reminds me to go ahead and buy another one now. Another great product from Sengled. Keep up the good work, guys.

These are great lights. Good colors, good brightness, to a color-blind man these lights are equal to Hue bulbs. And they're far cheaper--I bought these colored bulbs to use as white bulbs because on Amazon Prime day they were cheaper in full color than the Hue White Ambiance bulbs. Now to the challenging part... Hue's system is well-developed and exceptionally versatile. It just works. You need the Hue Bridge, and you know that from the outset. With the bridge, lots can be done. Without the bridge, Hue bulbs are fairly crippled. Sengled Element bulbs run on the Zigbee protocol. Which means that you can use other hubs than the Sengled hub to control them. I own a Samsung Smartthings hub, and I was able to connect these bulbs to the Samsung hub, but the connection seemed wonky--taking time to work and not transferring fully to Google Home because, though Google Home works with Smartthings and Sengled bulbs, to work directly with Sengled Bulbs in Google Home you have to import the bulbs through a Sengled account which requires that the bulbs be registered with Sengled through their app, and that app only works when your Sengled bulbs are attached to a Sengled hub. So, after many attempts to get the Sengled Bulbs working with sunlight/sunset timers and color adjusters and as part of a group in Google Home, I gave up and bought a Sengled Hub in order to be able to register the bulbs with Sengled so I could import them directly into Google Home. To my surprise, however, it was no easier getting Google Home to work with Sengled bulbs registered to Sengled and attached to a Sengled hub. So, in the end, I decided to simply run the bulbs on a sunset to 12:30 AM schedule through the Sengled Home App, foregoing Google Home and Smartthings altogether, only to learn that the Sengled Home App doesn't include sunset and sunrise triggers. Crud. But, with further investigation, it became apparent that the Sengled app and hub do work with IFTTT, and IFTTT contains sunset and sunrise routines based on your GPS position for use with Sengled. It's a kludge. If you want to do more than very simple on-off routines, you won't find it easy to make Sengled bulbs work the way you want without trial and error and jury-rigging. But, work at it and you will probably get them to do what you desire if you're willing to forego integration into Smartthings or Google Home. The bulbs work well and you don't have to have the Sengled hub to get them under control if you want to work in Smartthings. But even with the Sengled hub, integration with Google Home can be a challenge.

First, i see a few one-star raters mention these aren't Zigbee routers. One person even got it completely wrong, presuming any Zigbee device MUST act as a repeater (router) to be operating to spec -- which is a false claim. These lightbulbs are simple Zigbee endpoint devices, and for those of you using a traditional light switch to cut power to your light bulbs, an endpoint bulb is precisely what you want for a stable Zigbee mesh network. Granted, that means you need other devices in your Zigbee network to act as routers; I purchased a multitude of the Innr 10A plugs along with a decent stack of the Sengled 15A power metering plugs (oh man, don't buy the Innr 15A metering plugs ,they're BAD) to facilitate all the routing and repeating needed for my Zigbee network. So why do you want Sengled bulbs acting as endpoints rather than routers? Because when you turn the bulb off with a switch, your entire Zigbee network needs to re-converge itself after one or more routers just fell out of the mesh. This results in an unstable network, dropping messages, sometimes dropping entire devices. I have nearly 100 Sengled LED bulbs in my house now -- most of them are these A19's, along with probably 10 BR30's and two dozen of the little candleabra bulbs. I had only one of the A19's act flakey on me, which Sengled promptly replaced for me by submitting an online warranty request. The tunable white is nice for lots of reasons, the crazy colors were a lot of fun over the October to January holidays, the kids love the silly colors in their bedrooms and their shared bathroom. I'm happy with price of the bulbs, the fun colors, how stable they allow my Zigbee network to be, with Sengled's response to my one warranty claim, and I'm happy with how well they integrate with Home Assistant. I wish the colors could be a little brighter and in some cases a little more saturated, and I wish the Zigbee bulbs had a 100W tunable white-only option like the BT ones do.

Edit: Not sure what is going on with this company but haven’t been able to access the lights for the past week. The app says they can’t connect. Alexa says it can’t connect. Updating the app didn’t help. And even hard resetting everything hasn’t resolved the issue. Asimple Google search revealed that there are many others like me, though some say they’re now back online. I’m still here (literally, and pun fully intended) in the dark. Which would have been nice to know before I spent the better part of an hour trying to reset everything, figuring it was a local connectivity issue. Tweeted the company asking for help and have received no response. Have heard that their servers are down which is affecting app function, and that the original CEO has stepped down and there may be some organizational turmoil within the company... though not sure why I would need their servers to be up or their CEO to be at their desk in order to access my hub which is connected to the internet in my apartment. Overall I have about $250 sunk into their products right now and none are working with no assistance in sight. The kicker is that, yes, you CAN use your light switches to manually turn the bulbs on or off but they are stuck at the setting they were at when the outage started. For me, that’s at my evening setting of 1% brightness. If I don’t hear from them in the next few days I’m going to scrap them completely and invest in a company that has its **** together and provides better customer service. The GE hue bulbs look better and better everyday. What a waste of my time and hard earned money. Original review: These bulbs were super easy to set up and have been so awesome to turn my entire apartment into a hands free smart home. Nothing beats laying in bed at night reading a book and not having to get up to turn the lamp off all the way across the room or saying "lights out" or my pretending to be home light setting on my way out the door and having my entire apartment quickly adjust. And, as an added safety feature, I can control them from anywhere! The bulbs are super easy to control through both the Sengled app and Alexa though on occasion they may go offline which is usually resolved quickly and without needing to do anything on my end. The colors are really cool too. Though they understandably do not light the room nearly as well as when the bulb is on a white setting. They're such a cool novelty to put on at night as mood lighting when relaxing, taking a disco shower or watching TV. Super glad I went with Sengled. 10/10, would recommend!!!

After watching quite a few smarthome reviewers on Youtube, I decided to try these smartbulbs. In the past I've always used smart switches to control lights and didn't know why I would want a smart bulb. I already have SmartThings from Samsung, so these were a breeze to add to my home. I put them in my bedroom lamps and I'm really glad I tried these. The colors are great, but the best thing is to be able to dim them on command. I use that feature the most. I have voice assistants setup all through the house, so now can I not only turn the lamps on, but I can change the color and the brightness on demand. I'll be adding more of these to my lamps in the future. I had also looked at Phillips Hue, but not only are they very expensive, but they need their own hub. With SmartThings, I just turned them on and did a scan for new devices, added them to the room and that was it. I also, use Google home and these came right over from SmartThings into Google home and now I can control them by voice or app. The other advantage to these bulbs vs. the smart switches I was using is how fast the zigbee devices work in comparison to wifi devices. I would recommend these to anyone considering augmenting their smart home with these smart bulbs.

I have the daylight ones that were installed in the master bedroom (I have moved them to the bathroom). Loved the convenience of turning lights on and off from my bed. I programmed my Alexa app to turn them on when my alarm was turned off. I bought the color ones for my kids, and they love them in their room. Constantly changing the colors. I will say for deeper colors ask Alexa to turn lights dark pink, dark green, dark blue especially if you have a frosted glass covering. You could barely tell it was pink when we just said pink and for some reason I decided to ask Alexa to change them to dark pink and the color is VIBRANT. I recently bought another brand of colored bulbs that were much cheaper and they need to be told to go to dark (or bright, same thing). They are easy to setup and the daylight ones I have had for a while now and still going strong. I am not sure how long the cheaper ones will last, but Sengled has been a good brand. FYI it says you have to install sengled app on your phone to setup at first, I did not and was able to setup with my Echo Show Plus just fine. They have the option to select Sengled. Some of the other brands that are not listed on the amazon app do have to be setup through their app first, but Sengeled is on the list. I do use the app sometimes because I can change color with the app to a wider variety.

We have over a dozen Sengled Multicolor A19 Smart LED bulbs, the first batch of which were bought over the summer of 2019. We needed our bulbs to meet the following requirements: Zigbee-based, works with Samsung SmartThings, bright, okay to look at directly, multicolor, and 90 CRI or greater (the installation is in California and 90 CRI is a requirement). Sengled meets all of these specifications and remains one of the only products on the market that does so. However, there are two problems that buyers should know about. The first problem is that this bulb does not function as a Zigbee repeater, so extra engineering is required if you want to use this bulb down a long line of fixtures. Our installation includes a ~120ft hallway from the Samsung SmartThings hub. Without a repeater, the second-furthest bulb operates about 95% of the time, while the furthest bulb operates only about 40% of the time. Sengled justifies this design decision in its FAQ on sengled.com by stating: "Our Element bulbs were designed to be used as Zigbee end devices only. Our engineers made this distinction as repeaters require constant power, but people still tend to power off their bulbs with wall switches when leaving a room. With no power to the repeater, other end devices may disconnect. The fact that our Element bulbs are not repeaters also ensures that your Zigbee Mesh Network doesn't become overcrowded, which would delay any user controls." I would easily pay $5 to $20 extra for a Sengled bulb just to have the repeater feature turned on. However, as of this writing, no Multicolor A19 bulbs act as repeaters. In the SmartThings IDE, they all (2019 and 2020 purchases) report as "zigbeeNodeType: NON_SLEEPY_END_DEVICE". To overcome this problem, we engineered Ikea Trådfri USB Zigbee repeaters into the fixtures, so the whole line of lights works. That may be the subject of a separate review someday. The second problem is that the latest batch of bulbs suffers from occlusions in the lens cap. The photos attached to this review show three separate bulbs with visible blemishes when the light is on. One looks like a bad gash. The other two look like interlocking rings. Of the four A19 bulbs that I bought in the last two months, three bulbs suffer from occlusions serious enough that I cannot use them. The fourth bulb has occlusions but they are light enough to live with. As pointed out, one of the requirements is that the bulb be aesthetically pleasing because they are directly exposed to view, including from below for ceiling-mounted and high wall sconce fixtures. If your fixture has a shade, then this problem will not matter to you. The new packaging in 2020 is printed in color; if you get the packaging that is just brown cardboard with black printing, those bulbs were put together in 2019, and do not have these occlusions. I asked Sengled about this problem, and they wrote back that "These are simply manufacturing variances likely due to the way that the plastic was cooling during manufacturing." That may be true, but none of the 2019 bulbs that I have exhibit this problem. For a $25 product (nearly 25x more than non-smart white-only bulbs), we should expect better quality control. Sengled says that this product is for interior use only, but we have observed no problems in it working reliably outdoors as long as it is enclosed in an outdoor fixture.
