  • Better Than Expected
I'm impressed! This compressor is better than I expected. I looked at compressors in the under $200 category for weeks. I never found a Senco in a store to look over, but I wasn't finding anything else that fit my wants as well as this one, so I ordered it and hoped for the best. As soon as I took it out of the box I could see that the build quality beat all the others I had looked at. 1. The frame is powder coated and the finish is as hard as tooth enamel. Many others in this price range had painted frames (and tanks), which would eventually chip and begin to rust. 2. The discharge hose (hose from compressor to tank) is covered in braided stainless steel. You could drop an axe on it and you wouldn't compromise the hose. Almost everything else I looked at in the stores had a standard EPDM (rubber) hose with internal textile reinforcement. Drop a knife on that and it would probably nick the hose. 3. The regulator body is a machined part. Others use cheap cast aluminum. 4. The motor is vibration isolated from the frame. Consequently, this compressor is pretty quiet as compressors go. In addition, it stays put and doesn't walk all over the floor. 5. It is perfectly balanced at the handle. When you pick it up, it doesn't rotate to one side. I know that cast aluminum regulator bodies and EPDM hoses are adequate, but it's nice to know that this compressor was built with that extra bit of quality. In addition, it is obvious when using this compressor that it meets or exceeds all of the published specifications. I'm very happy with this purchase. UPDATE 4-23-2014: I just used this compressor in our bathroom remodeling job to power a framing nailer. I was sinking the heads of 3-inch nails below the surface of the wood in two 2 X 6's stacked on top of each other, every time. I could shoot about six nails before the compressor needed to recover, and recovery about 10 - 15 seconds. No problem for a small DIY project. And for the record, my framing nailer is cheap! It's no high-efficiency model at all. Also, dialing in the output pressure is really smooth. I am very pleased with this little workhorse. One of the best purchases I've made in years. ... show more

Smallest, lightest, quietest compressor that will work a framing nailer for more than two or three nails. Not suitable for rapid fire nailing, as for example with a coil roofing nailer, but handles small framing jobs and of course finish and brad nailers with no problem, and while it is heavy and loud, it ain't nearly as heavy or loud my Emglo compressor. ... show more

  • and I've stored it and cared for it as recommended. It is simply a cheap
I bought this Senco air compressor 6 months ago. I've used it 10 or 12 times to fill air in my car/bike tires. The unit no longer works because the regulator is broken. And that is not my opinion; that is the assessment of a local air compressor/tool company who evaluated the problem. I've used the compressor per the manual's instructions, and I've stored it and cared for it as recommended. It is simply a cheap, poorly built tool. To make matters worse, the unit is still under warranty, but there isn't a warranty repair shop anywhere near me. And I live in the most densely populated county in Florida! When I called Senco, they referred me to a shop 45 minutes away. When I called that shop, they informed me they don't perform Senco warranty repairs. I then called Senco again to inform them that their warranty service provider didn't actually provide the warranty service! Senco was unaware. As is turns out, the closest warranty service shop is more than 2 hours drive from my house! What a joke. I basically have a brand new air compressor that I can't use unless I pay some outrageous local repair fee, or unless I drive 4 hours on two trips (delivery & pickup) to have it fixed. I would never by this product again or any other product manufactured by Senco. Thanks for nothin'. ... show more

  • Sweet little compressor
The Senco PC0968 compressor runs smoothly and quietly. The pressure regulator works well allowing the output pressure to be set anywhere from 0 - 135 PSI. It will reach full pressure (starting from 0 PSI) in about 60-90 seconds. Powers my nail gun just fine but because of the rated capacity, rapid fire nailing is limited. I contacted Senco two times with questions about using the regulator valve and they responded within 24 hours of each contact. The manual is not especially clear about how to use the pressure regulator valve. It is possible to turn the valve counter-clockwise (lowering the output pressure) to where the valve can be damaged. Factory tech support advised me to watch the output pressure gauge while adjusting the regulator valve. Once the gauge reaches 0 PSI, the valve should not be turned any further. This is easy and intuitive. One very minor warning to buyers: The soft rubber feet on the bottom of the compressor leave black stains on anything they rest on. Use caution and place some protective material over any surface that would be damaged by a black stain. Fresh concrete or decking comes to mind. Other than that very slight issue, this is a dandy little compressor. ... show more
