  • This game is hard but addictive.
In this game, you will die a lot more than twice, yet it is so good that it’s fun to just keep on trying again and again. Btw, be aware stealth is a big part of the game. I love it.

  • Nice!
The game I ordered came in very early. I was shocked and pleased. Thanks!

  • Very difficult to play.
The game works just fine but the most difficult game right off the start. Not encouraging to play when its that hard. Looks like fun but a game is meant to be fun, not that difficult.

  • Honest Review - Not for Casual Gamers
I really like this game. Not quite as much as Bloodborne or other From Soft games but it's solid, still. The art style, story and game play are fantastic. To get this out of the way: Yes, it's super hard. Just like all Souls games, you will need to fight some bosses many, many times (I fought one boss 57 times) and learn their move set and when you finally beat them it feels great. I'm a veteran of all Dark Souls games (including Bloodborne - my favorite of them all by far). With that said, Sekiro (to me) is harder and less of a game vs than all of them because of a fairly linear combat system and lack of customization of the character. From Soft apologists will say that "well you have to play it this one way because that's what the devs wanted so deal with it". Ok then it's not nearly as enjoyable for most as DS and BB were. In Dark Souls and Bloodborne you can choose a pyromancer, sorcerer, Knight or numerous other diverse builds to play to your own style (Strength, Dexterity, Arcane, etc...). You can also summon in NPCs to help you fight or, better yet, summon in other players. The PVP was frustratingly amazing as well. Sekiro though is like "oh hell naw" and will not allow NPC or PVE summons and forces you to play it the way it was designed and that means up in the bosses faces, blocking, countering and constantly attacking. This isn't a bad thing necessarily; it's just different. The biggest disappointment to me is the lack of multi-player. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, etc... have this great system of summoning in NPCs or other players to help with particularly hard bosses or challenging levels. I LOVED this element. Sekiro has one minor battle that you can sort of bring an NPC to; it's early on in the game (Hirata Estate) and just stood to remind me of this lacking element for the rest of the game. Maybe I'm not the most git-gud-est of players but the co-op excitement with the PVP invasion threat was a significant perk to me. Sekiro ditched that, unfortunately, and combined with the somewhat single play style this game requires you will likely really struggle. I really hope future From Soft games restore the PVE / PVP systems as they were brilliant. Overall, I really like this game and am currently on NG++ and about to hit 100% achievements. I'm excited for the DLC when it comes out and, while this is not my favorite From Soft game, it's an amazing and beautiful game. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the lack of multiplayer and weapon / character diversity but an otherwise great story and art. ... show more

  • Don't listen to the reviewer named "B"
Don't listen to the reviewer named "B". Yes this is challenging, but if you go into the game expecting Dark Souls combat, you're dead in the water from the get go. People saying that the Souls/Borne series was easier, maxed out the npc help on boss fights instead of not using any help. You can't just dodge your way out of everything in this game. It forces you to learn how to deflect and parry (and thus teaching you how to "get good" in the Souls/Borne series.) Also... Waaaay more than 15% have beaten this game (including a quadriplegic, so whats B's excuse?) That said, Sekiro is beautiful. The story is well done (not vaguely told either!) and gives you a purpose to finding and killing the long list of bosses and mini bosses. Souls fans will notice some similarities in the structure of the game, but that's where it's ends, and Sekiro takes on life of it's own. If you welcome a good challenge, and miss the thrill of plunging your sword through the heart of a From Software boss, its worth the money. ... show more

  • Great Story, gameplay is a drag
So I bought this after reading IGN and Game Informer reviews. Neither one mentioned the extreme difficulty which, as a casual gamer, I wish I’d known before throwing away $60 on this. If you are like me and only have about 4 hours a week to commit to gaming, you’re unlikely to ever be able to finish this game, it’s bosses are simply too unforgiving and there are no difficulty settings. You will die over and over again and while the load screens aren’t as bad as a game like Prey, they are long enough when fighting a main boss and dying every two minutes. I joined a couple of online groups seeking some advice and frankly the community is just toxic with teenagers who had put 100 hours into it within the first week and telling everyone to “git good”. Giving two stars because the graphics and cut scenes were great. ... show more

  • Annoyingly difficult
Seriously, F this game. I can't remember a time a game started off fun and ended up so bad to the point where I never want to touch the f****** game again. I liked Dark Souls 3 a lot because while it was challenging, it was fair and a lot of fun. I even beat the last optional real boss. Satisfying and fun as well as bloodborne. This Is great until you get to the bosses, specifically the last two. Beyond frustration and cheap as f***. Camera gets stuck and unresponsive controls at times. There's also a point where you choose the ending and if you accidentally click wrong one, guess what, you get to play the WHOLE F****** game again for the "real" ending." Point is, I played 99% and finally gave up after over 50 attempts at the last f***** a******. You're probably just thinking "this dude sucks at this game." Well, unless you're one of the 15% who can beat it, then prepared to be WAY more frustrated at this game than enjoying it. It's unfortunate because there are parts leading up that were enjoyable and I'd have at least given 2-stars, however, the mere fact that the very end ramps up the difficulty that much just ruined the entire game. Plus, knowing the fact I'd have to re-do the whole game again for the "right" ending further makes me never want to touch this game again. They're all right, this is a difficult game but that does not equate to fun over frustration. Oh, and there's the real optional boss. F*** THIS GAME. ... show more
