  • Great little cab, but inefficient.
Size: Single
I was looking for a second bass cab to use for smaller gigs, and to keep at home while my main Mesa 4X10 cab is in the band's van. So I found this, and at the price and size couldn't pass it up. This is a surprisingly loud cab and works great with my Hartke LH-500 head and my 5-string basses. It has a punchy clear tone and the tweeter sounds nice and smooth. It handles the low B on my basses with ease. This is a great size to throw in the back of a small car, and it's easy to carry around. I think I'm going to pick up a second one and stack them up! My only issue after using it on a couple of gigs is it's not very loud as compared to my Mesa 4X10 or new Hartke XL 4x10. I suspect the drivers are not very efficient. I really have to crank the amp up to get a decent volume level. If I keep it I might swap out the speakers for something better. ... show more

  • Nice light cab for bass and keys.
Size: Single
This has worked real good as a bass & keyboard cabinet for the last year. It's for my on stage volume. Don't be deceived by the cheap price. It's very light, and as long as you don't try to drive it too hard, it's works very well.

  • don't listen to the reviews saying it can handle the low end, it can't
Size: Single
Overall, it's not bad for this crazy cheap price, and knowing that they are 8" speakers. However, it WILL NOT hit the low end when at any kind of performing volume. The tone is good, and the box is lighter than expected making for easier transport.

  • Great value and is an excellent bass cab
Size: Single
This cab can take my 5-string with no problems. You’d never guess this had 8” speakers until somebody told you. The speakers are obviously robust and handle high wattage. 4-string is what I typically use, and this cab IS a bass cab all the way. The sounds and how it lends itself to general bass purposes very much belie the 8” speakers. The cab is almost comically deep. It’s the most “cubic” shaped cab ever. You could sleep on top of it. But hey, it’s clever of Seismic to implement the cab this way, because, obviously, being outfitted with 8” bass speakers, it would be wise to make the cab very resonant in a way which will accentuate the muscle these speakers possess, and it looks like they were right. That “recipe” is successful at what it attempts, and it works. They’ve produced a bass cab which is on par with anything out there. There’s plenty of volume and you can shake the room with bass when you have your “bass” knob cranked 75% or better, if that’s your thing. I use more midrangey bass tones myself, mostly. Another reason I bought this was because when I bought this ten years ago, it was billed as a “guitar/bass cab”, and there was a demo Seismic had on LubedTube which showed 2.6 seconds of a live gig where this was being used with a guitar amp. The notion that this cab was dual-purpose added to how interesting it was to me. And for as cheap as it is, why the hell not. It sounds good with guitar, but only “okay” when compared to using the cab with bass. If I had to use this cab to lay guitar trax in a DAW or play a gig where I use this cab being pushed with my Bugera 1960, my B-52 solid state head (I’ve got several amps and some of them are completely different, but it’s nice to have a wide range of amps), I wouldn’t die. It wouldnt sound like Celestions in a Marshall or Jensens in a Fender, but I’d still dial in “my sound” and be perfectly good. It has a bit of that paradoxically weird high mid screech exhibited by bass speakers when guitar is used with them, but these aren’t as bad about it, and playing with EQ sorts it well enough. For less than $250. I mean, come on. Unless you just hate yourself or something, there’s no reason for the reader not to buy this effective and unique bit of kit. ... show more
