I've been after my perfect dress watch for a couple of years. After much research and deliberation, I decided this fit all of my criteria. The size works perfect for my 6-1/4" wrist. The supplied leather strap is adequate but I dressed it down with a nice canvas strap and it looks great, much more casual. I've been wearing it on and off for the past three weeks and let the power reserve run out once in that time. Since I've been wearing it, it gains about 5 seconds per day. Pretty darn good, especially for a Seiko. The dial looks absolutely beautiful in any lighting. The indices are crisp and clean as well as the frame around the date window. I've seen some complaints online about the movement used in these, but I just don't understand that attitude. Would it be nice if this watch had a higher beat rate or a longer service interval? Yes, but not for the extra $100 to $200 Seiko would certainly charge for those features. If you are on the hunt for a watch that can pull double duty as a formal dress watch and a more casual watch to wear around town or at the office, I'd definitely recommend any of these 38mm cocktail time watches. There are plenty of other colors to choose from if the red doesn't suit your tastes. These are well built and definitely worth the money if you can get it on sale. ... show more

Very beautiful and simple automatic watch at a reasonable price. I finally decided on the red “Negroni” color scheme because I already have green and blue watches, and it does not disappoint. The patterned watch face glimmers in the light, but the red is still dark enough to be subtle. Movement is made in Japan and works very well so far. ... show more

This is a very classy watch and reasonable in both size and price. In low light it looks like a deep maroon, but in the sun it really shows a beautiful red. Note that the color covers the dial, that fading at the edges shown in photos is only noticeable in low light and is done nicely. The numbers are applied, not printed on. The day window is very small and not very noticeable. I prefer leather straps generally and this one is fine for me. Maybe a $200 strap would be better. Probably. I will not replace it. In person his watch is better than the pictures and seems flawless. Now I have to make a Negroni cocktail… ... show more

Not how I expected it at all! Case was smaller than mentioned. Face color was a dull maroon at best and needed intense light for any scales to be seen. The belts were misaligned (probably removed and improperly placed back). Really disappointed.
