We have a rather large yard. So it takes some love & attention to keep it looking good. This is solid, durable construction. Easy to put together. We mixed up some moss, seeds, & compost inside it. We also added large rocks that won't fit the holes. They help to push out the mixture thru the holes. My uncle told me that trick. It helped. As it easily rolled over the yard the mixture would release thru the holes. No rocks were released during the process. This was easier than doing it by hand & wheelbarrow. These things are great - big time saver and makes laying down peat moss a much less dirty and more manageable job. This one is well made and easy to assemble - just putting on the handle and bracket. There are a few places where the paint had scratched off, in transit, I guess. I'm planning to hit those with some black spray paint before I seed this fall to try to prevent pre-mature rust. The "free gift" of the collapsible shovel is kind of amazing. I don't really understand why it's included with this - it's not the right size for this kind of work. But it's a super sturdy, well made, impressive little tool that is going straight to the truck for emergency dig out use. It's perfect for that. Much more of a camping/survival tool than a yard tool. It's so well built I was totally surprised, because I'd barely noticed it in the listing until it got here. Kind of my favorite part of this package haha. ... show more

I loaded it up with compost from my bin and found that my compost needs to stew a while longer before it will pass through the mesh evenly. Dumped a bag of manure into it and the spreader handled that well leaving a nice even trail across the garden. My neighbor saw me using it and asked to borrow it for his lawn.
