  • These trays are great for growing sprouts and micro greens
These trays are very useful for growing both sprouts and micro greens. For both, I suggest using the available germination papers, and for sprouts, soaking the seeds overnight helps the seeds to germinate more quickly. In my first picture is a crop of micro greens. I used coconut coir as a growing medium, and used a germination paper to prevent the growing medium from falling through the holes in the top tray. For both sprouts and micro greens, I cover the tray of seeds with germination papers until the seeds have germinated. These trays allow for bottom watering, and also catch excess water if you over water. Whether you use a growing medium or not, the germination papers allow the roots of the plants to reach into the bottom tray for water they need. Since I have a small greenhouse, I opted not to buy the available stand. The greenhouse is much more versatile and much easier to attach grow lights for the plants. UPDATE 08/04/19: The 4th and 5th pictures show a crop of micro greens I started using a sprouting seed mix. The 1st and 2nd pictures show them less than 3 weeks ago shortly after I planted them in a coconut coir on top of a germination paper. I have already harvested from this crop more than 6 times for 3 salads each time, and they continue growing. Since micro greens contain 3-4 times the nutrients of the full grown veggies, they are an excellent addition for salads or even to use in soups. You can easily grow micro green using sprouting seeds or any other veggie seeds. You just harvest them while they are small to get the extra nutrients. UPDATE 08/14/19: The last picture of my micro greens was taken 10 days after the previous picture. I have already harvested them multiple times for 3 salads each time, and they are still happily growing. These micro green are lasting so much longer than the sprouts I have grown from the same seeds. I do love when crops last for a long time, and am very happy with the results I am seeing with growing micro greens using this tray. I would definitely recommend this set of trays for growing micro greens. UPDATE 10/20/19: I have been keeping 2-3 of these trays growing micro greens since I got them. So far, I have grown a couple of different seed mixes, broccoli, and most recently wheat grass that I add to smoothies. Each crop has lasted 4-6 weeks with multiple harvests. So far, the wheat grass has been the most prolific. It has been growing about 4 weeks and continues to grow faster than I can use it. I have added a picture of the wheat grass which some of it is almost 12 inches tall. For all of the micro greens, I use coconut coir as a growing medium with a germination paper under the medium. I have a couple different types of containers I have used for sprouting. Cleaning them has always been a chore since the roots get stuck in the holes of the sprouters and it's tedious to clean all of the out. Even though the roots of the plants go through the holes in these trays, they wipe out with very little effort. By using the germination papers, the growing medium pours out with the paper leaving no yucky mess in the tray. Needless to say, I would definitely recommend these trays for sprouts and micro greens. I hope this review was helpful for you and I will update the review if my opinion changes. ... show more

  • Perfect Size for Microgreens!
I love these seed sprouter trays—they’re the perfect size for testing out new microgreens and growing small batches. The trays are lightweight yet sturdy, easy to clean, and just the right depth for healthy growth. Being BPA-free is a big plus, and the pack of five gives me plenty of options to experiment with different seeds. Great quality and value—I’ll definitely keep using these for my microgreen projects! ... show more

  • wheat grass seeds do not fall through, yay!
well I'm just now setting out to use, but I'd like to say for the wheat grass seed I have the holes are not too big, the seeds do not fall through, so I'm happy so far, seem sturdy, very excited to see if this method will a. not allow seeds to get moldy, and 2. prevent my cat from yanking up the whole plant like she's done with smaller less broad jars ive grown from so we will see, but neither of those factors effect this product, so, so far so good, will update if any problems. and yes I noticed I said a. and 2. lol. I could correct but what's the fun in that... ... show more

  • Good trays
I use these for growing wheat grass and oat grass. I like the small holes in the insert tray because the roots pass through very easily and they don’t have to go searching for less spaced out holes or slots like in other trays. The only thing I did not like is the green bottom tray. I grow on a wire rack with LED strip lights and unless the light is blocked some light goes through the green tray. I am not sure if that is a negative for root growth so I just block the ambient light with a black tray placed under these trays. I use coconut coir as a medium for the seeds to grow on. It seems to act a a good barrier to keep the roots from drying out too much. I have tried growing wheat grass with no medium, just seeds directly on the tray, and the wheat grass didn’t do so well. I am by no means an expert but this is what I have found to work best for my situation. I would definitely buy more if I decide I need to grow more wheatgrass than I already am. ... show more

  • Great concept but holes are too big for most of my seeds Does have many other uses though!
I bought this to be able to have seed sprouts in my fridge for healthy eating but my seeds go right through the grates. I debated giving this product only 3 stars but because I have found so many more uses for it and it is actually very sturdy I ended up at 4 stars. Here are some of the uses I have found it to be very handy with; thawing meat in my fridge (perfect size for a 3 lb pkg of hamb); straining seeds for end of season seed collection; rinsing my rock collection; and I’m actually using now as a tray for under my seedling containers. So, while it doesn’t work out for the purpose intended, I ended up giving 4 stars for quality of product and the many other things the trays can be used for! ... show more

  • Super little trays!
These are great for individuals and small harvests! I'm just starting out with microgreens and only growing for myself. I purchased these because a 1020 tray is a lot to throw out if my first tries are failures, plus, I can grow many different crops and still consume the harvests myself. My very first experience is that I started 5 trays full and every tray turned out fantastically perfect! I love that the top tray is so easy to lift out of the bottom tray to make checking roots and bottom watering a snap! ... show more

  • Great trays ....the best for sprouting
The holes in the trays are too big for Brussel Sprout seeds but lay a cheese cloth in the tray and you are good to go. I had sprouts in 3 days .....interesting the bottom tray just needs water, does not touch the tray above but just the evaporation of the water is all it needs ........ a very easy sprouting method. ... show more
