Not wanting to spend a bunch on a paddle, I wasn't sure how well this one would perform for the listed price. But I am beyond pleased how durable this paddle is. Its design makes for a quick clip through the water, and the 96" length really makes for easy paddling in my kayak. I recently purchased another for our 2-person kayak. Very good paddle for the money. I have an Intex K1 kayak that came with a crappy paddle so I decided to give this paddle a try after reading the great reviews. Without exageration I can say that I was able to go a lot faster and row a minimum of 2x as far. This is a great paddle if you plan to be out on the water for an hour or less. If you plan to be out a lot longer then that you're going to need kayaking gloves unless you dont mind getting blisters, which I found out the hard way. The only other option is to pay 2x the amount for a paddle that's gentler to the hands over an extended period of time. (My Carlisle Magic Plus paddle doesn't make me go much faster but I've been able to be out on the water for up to 3 hours at a time without getting any blisters.) For this price point though, I dont think there's a better option. ... show more

I purchased this to replace a stock Stearns aluminum paddle. I really wanted a carbon-shaft but thought spending more on the paddle than I did the entire kayak was stupid. Enter the SeaSense X-1. At a full 8 feet in length, I can dig the paddle in and pull like a steam engine in my inflatable kayak. The fit and finish on the shaft and blades is excellent--nothing cheap here. The foam grips are wide and do not move around. I am 6', 180 lbs. and was able to pull as hard as I could for over 30 minutes without any noticeable give or deflection in the shaft or blades. How can a $25 paddle perform so well? I think it's because aluminum is so easy to machine nowadays and also that a kayak paddle is a relatively simple product to manufacture, vs. a fiberglass or carbon fiber model. I've kayaked for over 20 years, paddling in nasty ocean swells, across Boston Harbor (you can't do THAT anymore), loaded and unloaded, with and without passengers, and this is the best paddle I've used so far (until Santa brings me a carbon fiber Aqua-Bound ha ha). ... show more

Me and my buddy liked 'em. They look and feel great, and perform much better than the paddles that came with the kayak. Where they connect, there's a little wiggle, but most wouldn't notice if they weren't trying to feel it. Would buy again and recommend to others!
