Description

Sachem Safe Water Conditioner Safe is the complete and concentrated dry conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Safe removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Safe converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank's bio filter. Safe may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Safe detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the bio filter to more efficiently remove them. Safe is non-acidic and will not impact ph. Safe will not over activate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. Safe is the dry version of Prime(R) and shares all of it's advantages; however, Safe is even more concentrated than Prime(R) . Product Features: Works great with freshwater and saltwater aquariums Non-acidic and won't impact pH Will not over activate skimmers Item Specifications: Sizes: 8oz 2.2lb 8.8lb Directions: To remove-(Directions for 8.8oz or higher) Chlorine: use 5 g (1 tsp.) to each 1625 L (450 gallons) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Chloramine: use 5 g (1 tsp.) to each 1250 L (300 gallons) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Ammonia: use 5 g (1 tsp.) to each 400 L (100 gallons) of tap water (removes 4 ppm). Do not overdose To detoxify nitrite/nitrate in an emergency situation use up to 5 g (1 tsp.) to each 400 L (100 gallons). Use fish to gauge toxicity reduction as test kits will still show presence of nitrite/nitrate even when detoxified. May be added to aquarium directly, but is better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. If temperature is > 30 C (86 F) cut dosing in half.

  • Better than liquid conditioner

Great value. I change a lot tanks and this powder has lasted so many water changes.

  • A pond owner's perspective
Size: 4 kg Color: white
For our 7300 gallon koi pond (5500 gallons pond, 1800 gallons filter), I was using Pond Amquel Plus and KORDON Pond Novaqua Plus for 400 gallon water changes. I would buy gallon jugs, re-pour them into manageable 16 ounce containers and just pour a few ounces of each while refilling the pond. At those levels, it was more for prophylactic use than any real concern about chemical levels. The pond is stable. We have some near 1 meter koi for over 10 years and hope to keep them for decades longer. After exhausting my latest supply, I decided to look for a lower cost product while still maintaining water quality. Many people recommend Seachem Prime and I looked into it. It turns out Seachem Safe is the powdered version and is safe for all fishes, even those intended for human consumption. I am pleased with Seachem Safe. Not only is it more economical, it is easier to use. I use one teaspoon per 400 gallon water change. The koi look and behave the same and the pond has maintained its balance. I also recently set up a small 12 gallon nano tank with a pair of clownfish I am hoping eventually spawn. I put in a tiny amount of Safe just to ensure the chemical levels are well controlled. The fish appear unaffected. Seachem Safe appears to be an inexpensive, easy to use water conditioner well suited for all types of fish. ... show more

  • So much more cost effective than Prime!
Size: 1 kg Color: white
I love this stuff! It smells strongly of sulfur, but it works so well! I have 17 freshwater tanks. If I had to use Prime everytime I did a water change, I'd be so broke. I'm so grateful for Seachem's Safe! According to my calculations, one of the small level spoonfuls of Safe (the spoons that come in the fish medicine bottles) works for 60 gallons of water. ... show more

  • If you have multiple tanks or just like the thought of saving some money go for Safe.
Size: 1 kg Color: white
Seachem is absolutely the best product line out there for aquarium care. Safe is the powder form of Seachem Prime and is a much cheaper alternative. It's very simple to use and only takes tiny amounts due to it's concentrated formula. I have been using for over 5 years on 13 tanks. I even use it to quick cycle tanks so I can add fish right away (not the best way to introduce fish but sometimes necessary). Safe keeps your chlorine in check period. It is used with water changes as a water conditioner but it can also be used as an additive to keep your ammonia in check . The Seachem site has all the answers you might need. If you have multiple tanks or just like the thought of saving some money go for Safe. ... show more

  • Must have for fish tanks
Size: 1 kg Color: white
It is the best and cheapest way to make the water safe for fish. You need very little of this to take out chlorine and chloramine. Although I use it primarily for chlorine removes from our tap water it can also help with control of ammonia. (But I highly recommend to look for the source or reason why your ammonia is high and resolve the issue and perform water changes). There is also smaller size, which is probably what would be good for most people. ... show more

  • Great product...BUT BE CAREFUL!!!
Size: 1 kg Color: white
Does what its suppose to do and well.... but there are drawbacks. 1. IT SMELLS BAD in anything other than the bottle or in water, so if you have multiple tanks and want to use different containers other than the big bottle it comes in for easy access.....DONT! Your nostrils will thank you. 2. Dosage instructions are very confusing. Instructions on the bottle is very different from instructions online. The difference in dosage instructions lead to losing $300 worth of fish. ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS: Use 200 mg Safe (scoop) per each 200 L (50 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or per 50 L (13 gallons) for ammonia. BOTTLE INSTRUCTIONS: Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 1,250 L (300 US gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 300 L (75 US gallons) for ammonia. For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. So it isnt all bad it does go a long way and can be a really great product. Just wish SEACHEM fix those two big issues. I will be returning to SEACHEM Prime after this runs out. ... show more

  • Love this product!
Size: 1 kg Color: white
I do frequent water changes and in the 80% range, I have a 180 gallon cichlid tank and a 100 gallon glofish tank. I also frequently test my perimeters and have a little higher nitrates than I prefer and ammonia than I prefer. I have two fluval fx6 oh my big tank and one FX4 of my smaller tank for filtration. And even with the best filter media I still get readings a tad higher than I like to see. Adding safe to the water has kept my fish healthy even with the little higher nitrates and ammonia. so I would imagine it is doing its job by neutralizing them 😁 it gives me a peace of mind 🤗 It take such a little amount that this will last me a long long time! It's worth the price if you're struggling with the same thing ... show more

  • gets rid of nitrite, nitrate, & chloramines
Size: 4 kg Color: white
Was buying the bottled liquid version & paying the price. i couldn’t constantly buy RODI water it was getting expensive to top off . with the liquid Prime i could add the necessary amount to tap water & replenish the evaporated water loss in my reef tank but it was getting expensive. prime would allow for tap water usage & since it got rid of nitrate, nitrite as well i had no negative results . So i found the concentrated powder form & it does an awesome job. i probably will have the container for life since it last so long but no more buying RODI water .( until i get to instal RODI STSTEM - it’s just no feasible at the moment. this product is awesome - 5 gal water 1/2 of the scoop of powdered prime & no problems in topping off water for evaporation . my parameters in the tank totally stable . it’s the inly product out there that actually removed nitrate nitrite thats in high concentrations in my city tap water . ive tested the water before adding prime & the numbers are through the roof . i’ve added the prime & tested the same water afterwords & totally normal . great product . i have a co worker that was setting up a brand new 40 gal cube - i recommended using prime & especially during initial cycle set up & it made his transition effortless with no spikes in nitrate, nitrite issues. he was super pleased . ... show more
