- REMOVER: Seachem Prime immediately and permanently removes chlorine and chloramine, successfully allowing the bio filter to remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate while they are detoxified for 48 hours.
- DETOXIFIER: Seachem Prime effectively detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels, providing a safe environment for your betta, tetra, or other fish.
- USE: Use 1 capful (5 mL) of Seachem Prime for each 200 L (50 US gallons) of new or replacement water. For best results, add Seachem Prime to new water first. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. For smaller volumes, use 2 drops per gallon.
- SAFETY: In case of an emergency, the 5x dose of Seachem Prime may be used for both ammonia and nitrite. Use a 12 dose if the water temperature is > 30C (86F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low.

Value and Protection for Tanks
Size: 500 mL
Style: Conditioner
If you are looking for a reliable water conditioner, Seachem Prime is the absolute best choice. Value: Because it is so concentrated (just 5 mL treats 50 gallons), you use significantly less product per water change. It saves a lot of money in the long run.Safety Net: Beyond removing basic tap water toxins like chlorine and chloramines, it detoxifies ammonia and nitrites for up to 48 hours. This is an absolute lifesaver during tank cycling or an unexpected mini-cycle crash. Fish Health: It helps stimulate your fish's natural slime coat without adding artificial slime compounds. The sulfur odor is normal and lets you know the chemical binders are active, so don't be alarmed by the smell! It is an essential item in my fish-keeping kit!

20+ Years of Flawless Performance!
Size: 1000 mL
Style: Conditioner
As someone who's been deeply involved in the aquarium hobby for over two decades, I can confidently say that Seachem Prime is, without a doubt, the single most essential product in my fish room. I was introduced to Prime when I first started out, and it quickly became the cornerstone of my water care routine. Twenty-plus years later, it remains the only water conditioner I trust and use in all my tanks. Prime does exactly what it promises, and it does it exceptionally well. It instantly neutralizes chlorine, chloramine, and ammonia, making tap water safe for your aquatic inhabitants. Beyond that, it detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, which is a huge bonus, especially during cycling or in emergency situations. The fact that it does all of this in a concentrated formula means a little goes a very long way, making the 1L bottle incredibly economical and long-lasting. What truly sets Prime apart, for me, is its reliability and the peace of mind it provides. I've never had a single issue with water parameters or fish health that could be attributed to Prime. It's truly a "set it and forget it" product that allows me to focus on the joy of the hobby rather than worrying about water quality. If you're new to the hobby, do yourself a favor and start with Prime. If you're a seasoned aquarist looking for the best, you already know what I'm talking about. I exclusively use Seachem products in my tanks because their quality and effectiveness are unmatched, and Prime is the shining star of their lineup. This isn't just a water conditioner; it's an investment in the health and longevity of your aquatic ecosystem. Five stars, hands down!

Great product
Size: 500 mL
Style: Conditioner
From Cichlids to Fancy Goldfish I've been keeping fish for 30+ years.Just about every major manufacture and boutique specialty company has a water conditioning and treatment product.I can't say I've tried them all, but close too it. Some products have at the least, minimal effectiveness while others can be potentially dangerous. An example would be Stress Coat which has binding sugar strands in the Aloe. This isn't a problem unless one of your fish has a small scratch or wound. The sugar feeds the bacteria which can lead to major infection and dire consequences.I've been using Amquel for years and it's a fine conditioner, excellent at removing chlorine, and Chloramines, but like all these products - they come with limitations. Well, with one exception and that's Prime by Seachem. A few months ago, I decided to give it a try, and haven't looked back since. Prime doesn't just remove the chlorine and Chloramine it does much more: * Detoxifies any and all heavy metals in your tap water (you can call your water company directly for a list of them and PPM) * Neutralizes Ammonia * Neutralizes Nitrite * Neutralizes high Nitrate to non toxic levels * Removes toxic gases * Will not foam or change PH * Helps regenerate natural slime coat Since using Prime, I've seen a dramatic improvement in all of my fish. In 2010 one of tanks was hit with the dreaded and rare Toxic Tank Syndrome - within 48 hours I had lost nine gorgeous fish - except for one survivor, a single Broad Tail Nymph.Since that ordeal, "Roxy" became a bottom dweller spending most of her time laying in a corner. Treatments were conservative, but nothing worked. After my first 50% water change using Prime her behavior began to improve. Now she swims among her tank mates, her color is better, gill movement stabilized and her appetite ferocious. In fact I see improvements in all my fish and in every tank. There simply isn't anything like it, Prime is hands down one of the best things you can do for your fish. In addition to the outstanding, patented formula of Prime - it couldn't be more economical to use. A single 500 ml bottle treats up to a whopping 5,000 gallons of water. A tiny bit goes a long, long way.It should also be noted that in times of emergency the dose can be increased five times, Prime is harmless to fish. It's the only product of it's kind, and towers above any other water treatment on the market - period. If your an aquarium hobbyist be it novice or advanced - I would urge you to add a bottle of Prime to your arsenal of fish care products. Your finned friends will thank you for it.

Highly Concentrated and Bottle Lasts a Long Time
Size: 500 mL
Style: Conditioner
I've been using Seachem Prime for a couple of years in both our school aquatics system and my own freshwater aquariums, and it has become my go-to water conditioner. This 500 mL bottle lasts a long time. It treats over 5,000 gallons of water, so even with regular water changes, it takes quite a while to use up. I measure the correct amount with a pipette for my 36-gallon and 15-gallon tanks, while our school's aquaponics system holds over 600 gallons, so we simply add the appropriate dose whenever we refill the system. We primarily use Prime to remove chlorine and chloramines from tap water, but we've also relied on it during times when ammonia levels began to rise. For larger tanks, one capful treats up to 50 gallons, while our smaller 10 and 20 gallon classroom tanks only require two drops per gallon. The liquid does have a slight sulfur-like smell in the bottle, but it quickly disappears once it's added to the water. Over the years, our water testing has consistently shown safe water conditions after treatment, and it has been a dependable part of maintaining healthy aquariums and our aquaponics system. Overall, this is an easy-to-use, highly concentrated water conditioner that goes a long way and has worked very well for both my home and classroom tanks.

Pure magic in a bottle—literally kept my tank alive!
Size: 250 mL
Style: Conditioner
During my recent tank emergency, Seachem Prime was an absolute game-changer. While waiting for my filter to catch up and fully cycle, I used Prime to detoxify the dangerous ammonia and nitrite levels. It gave me complete peace of mind knowing my 6 fish and 6 neo shrimp were completely safe from toxic chemical spikes. The fact that this stuff binds up lethal toxins for up to 48 hours without stalling the tank's cycle is mind-blowing. It kept my entire clean-up crew and fish alive and healthy when things easily could have taken a turn for the worst. It is highly concentrated, incredibly reliable, and an absolute must-have for any aquarium owner. I will never run a tank without a bottle of Prime on hand!

Seachem Prime
Size: 100 mL
Style: Conditioner
I've been using Prime for quite a while now and it seems to be working out for me. When I first started out with my tanks I was using "Jungle" water conditioner and it seemed to do it's job but I wanted something more "top of the line" if you will. I didn't make the switch because I thought the "Jungle" product was inferior but I just wanted the "best" for my fish. I started researching about the best water conditioner and everyone kept raving about "Prime" they would talk about how affordable it was and the benefits that came from using this product. It seemed like the best choice for me so I made the switch I did notice that the stuff is very strong and concentrated so it doesn't take much to treat your water. As far as dosing Prime you just need to follow the instructions on the back of the bottle. I'm usually careful when I dose with Prime because of it's potency so when I prepare my water in a 5 gallon bucket I usually dose 2 drops per gallon. The reason I do it this way is because I don't want to overdose on Prime I rather be safe than sorry. With that said when I first started dosing with Prime I would dose it straight into the bucket of water. Then I would siphon the water into my tank without letting the water age. I started noticing that every time after I did a water change my fish would start gulping for air at the surface. I started reading certain threads and some people stated that in some cases too much Prime can cause oxygen depletion. Seachem has stated that you can overdose Prime about 5x the recommended dosage and it still would be safe for fish. I personally wouldn't take the risk especially if you don't have proper aeration in your tank. I know most people will say that it doesn't matter if you let your water age or if you wait for the water conditioner to take effect (since it works instantly) and they might be right but in my situation it seems to make a difference. I let my water age for about 24 hours and I sometimes even dose the water before letting it age. I also give the water a little stir just to make sure everything is mixed up well I'm not sure if it helps but I do it regardless. I've noticed that after doing all of the above my fish don't gasp for air anymore and they don't seem to be bothered at all by weekly water changes. The only downside to my method would be that the agents that lock down ammonia, nitrites and nitrates to something less toxic wouldn't really be taking effect. These locking agents stop working after 24 hours or 48 hours depending on how much you dose. I'm not too worried about it though because I keep my tanks fairly clean and I methodically keep up with my water changes. Be warned that Prime does not get rid of ammonia, nitrites or nitrates for good it just converts it to something less toxic which then allows your biological filtration to clean it up for a short period of time. Like I stated before Prime only takes effect for a brief moment and once it stops working the toxins that were locked down are released back into your water. That's where regular water changes come into play having clean water and using Prime in conjunction will definitely work to your advantage. I would say that in laymen terms Prime is a good water dechlorinator that happens to come with a few extra's. Would I say it's worth making the switch? I wouldn't really be able to answer that question because there are a lot of great products out in the market that work similar if not the same as Prime. I would however say that from a personal stand point Prime is a great product and it works very well and if used correctly it can be very effective and affordable at the same time.

Converts chloramines, but doesn't "detoxify" ammonia
TLDR: Prime is not a miracle product that can prevent "new tank syndrome". It works on chloramines, but not on ammonia, which is equally toxic to fish and invertebrates. If you have ammonia in your tap water, you will need to use something else when cycling your tank with livestock in it. Long version: If you have chloramines in your tap water, you need to either buy or generate RO (reverse osmosis) water, or use a conditioner like Prime to prevent the chloramines, which are highly toxic to fish and invertebrates, from killing your livestock. To that end, Prime works well, even for San Diego tap water, which is notorious for having high levels of chloramines. However, Prime also claims to "detoxify" ammonia, presumably ionizing it and changing it from NH3 to NH4 (ammonium). If you perform even a cursory search online, you will find numerous forum postings about the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of Prime. Many hobbyists and even some chemists have tested this claim and found no evidence that the proportion of NH3 to NH4 is any lower after treating with Prime. This lack of evidence for the "detoxifying" effects of Prime on ammonia is important because it means that Prime cannot save your livestock from "new tank syndrome" as claimed. New tank syndrome is the spike in ammonia that occurs when livestock are first added to a tank before the biological filter (i.e. the colonies of beneficial bacteria that convert ammonia into nitrite and then into nitrate) are established. If you are cycling a tank with livestock, you will need to closely monitor and manage the ammonia levels, and cannot depend on Prime to save your livestock. Instead, if you must cycle with livestock, you will need a product like Stability to temporarily establish placeholder colonies to break down as much of the ammonia as possible. You will also need to perform frequent water changes to get the ammonia out of the tank. As some municipal water suppliers add chloramines AND ammonia to their water, this presents a problem for water changes. If you have ammonia in your tap water and you add that water to your tank, you are adding ammonia, some of which will be the more toxic NH3 form. Without an established biological filter, this ammonia will poison your livestock. Therefore, if you have ammonia in your tap water, you need to use RO or spring water instead, at least until your biological filter is established and able to quickly process the amount of ammonia present in your water changes.

A little goes a LONG way!
Size: 250 mL
Style: Conditioner
I’m new to keeping an aquarium and kept seeing Seachem Prime recommended everywhere, so this was one of the first water conditioners I bought. I was honestly confused by the dosing at first because such a tiny amount treats so much water, but once I figured that out it’s extremely easy to use. I’ve been using it to condition my tap water during my tank setup and water changes and haven’t had any issues. The bottle should also last me forever with a smaller aquarium because you need so little each time, which makes it a really good value. Definitely pay attention to the dosing instructions if you have a small tank because you really do NOT need much! So far I’m very happy with it and will continue using it as my water conditioner.
