The Scriveiner Rollerball is one of the best pens I have ever owned. I can find no fault with it. From its elegantly understated green-black color to its silver accents and its silky smooth glide on paper, this rollerball is definitely great value for money. It writes better than pens that cost 20 times as much (you know which ones I mean). It is also very well balanced in the hand. I bought some blue refills because I prefer blue ink and it is one of the most exquisite shades of blue I have ever come across. No wonder it received a Royal award. This is a very attractive pen that has a nice feel and clear ink script. It was a gift and the recipient was pleased as can be, and plans to use the pen as his main source at work because it is a good weight and has a nice feel.

This is such a smooth writing pen. I would say it's heavy which not everyone likes but I think the weight is perfect for me. The only negative is the cap does not stay in place if you put in on the back of the pen while writing. I'd give the review a 4.5 for this but don't think it's fair to drop it to a 4 star review as this pen is really nice and really smooth. It's also a really nice looking pen though that's secondary. If you want a really nice pen without going crazy I would highly recommend this one. Also, wait for a sale or Prime day and you'll get it for under $30 ... show more

This pen has a very nice gloss laquered look vs a more plastic look. The gold trim is a nice touch. It has some weight to it, as quality pens should. The cap closes over the roller end or 'nib' with an audible click. I have to get used to the cap not fitting on the 'tail' of the pen when writing like some others. That's not an issue IMO. Quality of writing is excellent. This is due to the high quality German made cartridge. The ink effortlessly flows without skips. What's more is that the cartridge is actually spring -loaded so that it absorbs the slight impact when the pen meets the paper, and varying pressure that the user might apply. It's very subtle, but a really nice feature of the cartridge. Hopefully the brand of cartridges don't change. They're key to the quality of this writing instrument. My only gripe is that the taper at the grip has a gloss finish and is a tad slippery. A textured finish would make this pen perfect ... show more

I tried shaking the pen and running warm water over the tip and the refill but the problem persists. I am always apprehensive when buying so called "luxury" pens, but this one surprised me. I have tried several models from Colibri, Dunhill, and one MontBlanc, but hated the way each one of those would write (granted the MontBlanc was a fountain pen so it's not apples to apples). They always looked absolutely gorgeous but would write like crap. I never understood that. This Scrivener, however, is amazing. It has the looks, no doubt, but writes so well. It puts the ink on the paper in a predictably smooth way and is comfortable in my hand. The way it writes reminds me of a cross between the Uni-ball, G-2, and the ink-joy paper mate click top. All without the excess ink leaking out the Uni-ball had, or the bleeding I experience with the Uni-ball, and G-2. I will buy several more before they become more expensive. ... show more
