I bought this grass shear as an easier alternative to using a weedwhacker. I'm very happy to have found this. In my case, I need to trim the strip of grass where my mower can't reach, such as along patio stones, the driveway, or the walkways. I've been using a weedwhacker, which works, but it gets my shoes covered in grass stains and the string is always breaking or getting jammed. I also don't want to get on my hands and knees to trim the grass. This wheeled grass shear works great for trimming the grass where I can't mow. Simple to use, and while it feels a bit flimsy, it's been up to the task so far. It cuts all the grass, including the grass blades right up against the wall. I even tried it out on some tall weeds and overgrown grass and bushes, just to see what it could do, and it easily cut through any stem up to about 1/4 inch wide. Everything that I wanted in long handled cordless grass shears. Super lightweight and the height is adjustable. I am 5’6” and I pulled out the handle to its longest length. Cuts grass and weeds really well. I gave it four stars because the body kept falling off the handle. It should click in and hold better than it does. However, I used gorilla tape and wound it around the body three times and that works really well (see attached video showing tape holding it together while I trim). It’s never going to come apart now! Really helps with trimming my rock garden without destroying everything in its path like a weed whacker. Also saves my knees from bending down and trimming weeds and some grassy patches manually. I already have hedge trimmers that I love and I knew I wouldn’t be taking it apart to use the hedge trimmer. It’s permanently attached now and I really like it. However, if you plan to use it for both – long handled shears and also as a hedge trimmer – I don’t think that will work because it doesn’t hold together securely without tape - especially if you plan to assemble and dissemble it all the time. ... show more

DO NOT BUY THIS TRIMMER IF YOU INTEND TO USE THE HANDLE EXTENSION. It worked well a few times, then the trimmer would absolutely not stay attached to the wheeled handle. Everything about the whole handle assembly is flimsy garbage. The wheels are so small it’s barely usable as it is when it DID stay together and mostly had to be held up off the ground to work. The trimmer itself works well and feels solidly built, but I already had one of those; the handle extension is the only reason I bought this at all to use around the pool patio, and it’s totally useless. A string trimmer just throws the clippings all over the place, so that’s not the solution. Thoroughly disappointed with this piece of junk and cannot fathom how it was ever allowed to leave the drawing board. ... show more

    • Why do they put such crappy wheels on this tool?

I have two good things to say and one terrible thing to say. The wheels are the worst. They are so small that you can't roll the tool over grassy ground. They fall off. Regularly. They are on a joke of a shaft which tries to keep them on by friction. I replaced the wheels with 4" wheels I got at the thrift shop. That made a huge difference. I put them on with collars, washers and nuts. They are high enough that the tool now stands erect on its own and rolls over grass. But - the cutter blade is the only one I have seen that is well designed. The knives actually cut, unlike the two other similar hand tools I own. And the weight is so low that I can use it by lifting it and cutting off the ground. I don't destroy my back by kneeling. And even though I initially thought 7.5 volts was just for a toy, I was wrong. The battery lasts well and I can use it for quite a long time. With the new wheels, it has become my go-to tool for attacking the newly growing knots of grass weeds as they continue to pop up in my garden (no lawn). It reacts well when the cutter blade is stopped with a hard twig or a wire. To free the blades, I needed to remove the cutter which meant that I had to remove the tool from its clip-on holder. I hate to do this often because the clip-on just holds the tool with thin plastic edges which seem like they won't last through many removals. So with the wheel replacement, and only with the wheel replacement, the tool is mostly useful. One point - the cutter is doomed to wear out. Why can't they sell a replacement cutter? Instead, all of these manufacturers of these kinds of tools want you to buy a whole new unit if the cutter blades break or can no longer be sharpened. ... show more

So far the shears work fine, but once you put it in the long handle with the wheels to trim. The wheels keep falling off, it is horrible. I would not purchase again, very disappointed with that as this is why I purchased the Power Tool to begin with. I will keep as the shears work fine and are smaller than the others that I had. ... show more
