  • Fits and works on my 2006 Tundra
Style: Wire Harness Only
First off, regardless of what Amazon's results say, this DOES fit my 2006 Tundra double cab WITHOUT the JBL system. Apparently there's a lot of confusion with Toyota stereos, definitely for the first gen Tundras anyway. If you have a stock JBL system, or one with rear entertainment, or even one with rear headphone jacks, you also have an external stock amplifier. If you have an access cab you most likely have one no matter what stock radio it came with. On those radios there will be a single 20-pin plug that leads to the amp (behind stereo in reg cab, under rear seat in access cab, behind back seat of double cab), which has 10 and 6-pin plugs like this harness. You can bypass the amp by connecting this into the stock harness coming from it - but I can't say firsthand how well or if this even really works. Most people use the Metra TYTO-01 instead - Metra TYTO-01 JBL Amplifier Interface Harness . However, some have a non-jbl system with external amp (made by fujitsu ten) and it seems the TYTO-01 doesn't work with that one. At any rate, if you don't know what stock system you have, I'd HIGHLY suggest removing the radio before you order to confirm whether or not you have the jbl, etc 20-pin harness or the 10 and 6-pin harness like this one. I got lucky that my double cab only had the most basic stock radio and this is the correct harness for it. All the wires matched the new stereo's harness and it was a simple plug and play install. ... show more

  • Better than the picture
Style: Wire Harness Only
My wire harness came with connectors on both ends not just the factory harness end. Like a dummy though, I thought they sent me the wrong part since it wasn’t the one shown in the photo with bare wires to connect to an aftermarket stereo, then realized the end I cut off had a connector that would connect directly to an aftermarket stereo. All I had to do was disconnect the one on my Alpine and plug this one in. It also has other connectors in parallel to add more amps and speakers if you want to expand your System later. It didn’t come with the pinout but if you are connecting it to a universal stereo with the built in connector you don’t need it. I bought mine from warehouse deals. I suspect someone returned it because it wasn’t bare wires on one end like the photo which may also be why the pinout wasn’t included. Mine was for a 2005 Scion xB. Works perfect. Scion for some reason uses two harness connectors instead of just one. Two speaker channels on one harness and two on the other. ... show more

  • Procuring all the parts before undertaking installation
Style: Wire Harness Only
Sometimes you open a radio bay and find out the factory made a midyear modification. It's a good idea to have all the installation aids you can. Being able to wire any which way you want is a lifesaver. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. It's nice when doing an install to be able to prep your needed wiring harness "on a workbench" and not while you are hanging upside down under a dashboard! I've spent a few hours laying backwards on a drivers or passenger seat with my feet dangling into the rear compartment. Staring up at the bottom of a dashboard while the brake pedal and accelerator grind into my ears! Too old for that excrement. I buy all the wire kits beforehand and that way I can solder and heat shrink in "comfort" and do a quality job. With room for all the schematics and needed tools to be right at hand! I may end up with spare harness parts, but I can do the install in one fell swoop and not wait for a needed part to be discovered on some dusty back shelf and shipped to me. It's nice to have a place to "bench test" the new head unit before plunking it into the dash. A couple of powered computer speakers can verify your unit is putting out to the RCA jacks a reasonable sound and not "cat howling. You will probably need 4 8 ohm test speakers to verify the high level output. A set of "alligator jumpers is nice to have for temporary test connections. It's a couple of extra bucks for doing a bench test, but it beats having to pull out a buggy new install. (And if it's your wife's car -- ) ... show more

  • Fit right in, was easy to install. Works great!
Style: Wire Harness w/ Crimp Connectors
My 1994 Camry had a factory cassette/CD player when I bought it last year. I was afraid to put a cassette into a stereo that old, and the CD player worked but hey, only 1 CD at a time. There are some pretty nice car audio systems available and I got a cheap one that handles bluetooth on the phone, SD cards, USB sticks, etc. The installation was a walk in the park! I popped off the bezel, removed four screws, and the old system was out. The new one had wires hanging out and the colors on this harness matched perfectly. It took about ten minutes to crimp those wires and then the two connectors plugged right in where the factory unit was. I plugged in the antenna and screwed in the four screws, then did a smoke test before putting the bezel back on. No smoke, just music :) It doesn't get much easier than this. If I ever decide to get a fancier stereo later, you can be sure I'll be back for another one of the harnesses. ... show more
