  • need to finish assembling AND check that prior assembly was done correctly
Size: 24-Inch Wheels Style: Aluminum Frame Color: Red
This is a great bike and we foresee many years of use. It's sturdy and the individual pieces seem of high quality. My son has had it a few months and it's been good so far. However, as other reviews mentioned, this bike arrives only partially-assembled. You need some bike know-how and special tools to finish putting the bike together. The back wheel is not on, you need to put that on and figure out the gear assembly. Gear assembly needs some finessing to synch and may need additional adjustment to prevent it from catching or slipping. The front wheel was backwards and needed to be removed and flipped in order for the brake tread to work properly and safely. Even if the front wheel hadn't been backwards, it would have still needed to be removed because the brake line was twisted through the frame and couldn't work. If you didn't flip the front wheel and correct the brake line, you would not be able to brake the bike. Basically, it's as if they showed the people handling the partial assembly a picture, but provided no instruction or training in how to put it together. The lack of instruction extends to the buyer as the ones in the box are very unclear. If you don't know how a bike is supposed to work or have the right tools, you will NOT be able to do this yourself. If you know bikes and have a socket wrench set, budget at least an hour to correct and complete the assembly; if you don't, budget at least $100 to have the local bike shop correct and complete the assembly. ... show more

  • bike will last many years and offers great value and performance
Size: 24-Inch Wheels Style: Aluminum Frame Color: Red
I bought the version with aluminum frame, 24" wheels and rim brakes for my 8-year-old son. This is a very nice bike. I have ridden and maintained bikes for 50 years, so I my views are guided by some experience. The only assembly challenge came with attaching the handlebar - like some other reviewers I found it necessary to detach the brake cable from the front brake, mount the handlebar, then reattach the cable. The brakes are really solid and are easily adjusted for best performance. The shifters (Shimano revoshift front and rear) are intuitive and great for kids, and needed no adjustment out of the box. I have ridden the bike myself, standing up because of the small frame, and it doesn't feel that different from a mid-range men's mountain bike. My son loves it. From what I can see after 2 weeks of use, I think the bike will last many years and offers great value. ... show more

  • 9/10 - Used Like New
Size: 24-Inch Wheels Style: Aluminum Frame Color: Red
NOTE: The bike I bought was used so my review may vary on certain things. The price for the used bike was only $160. During the height of the COVID-19, bikes were sold out EVERYWHERE! Bikes that were retailed at $250, were now going for $700! The high demand for any outdoor activities increased so high that the prices for those market became unaffordable to many. Seeing this bike at such a low price, and it was listed as “Used - Like New”, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. Straight out the box, it wasn’t much of a hassle to put together. Being that it was used, I had a damaged headset bearing and a missing quick release skewer. The parts weren’t expensive to replace and costed just under $30 to fix at a local bike shop, brining the price to own at $190 so far. Once the bike was assembled as intended, I was able to judge the bike for what it really worth. First thing you’ll notice is that the bike is pretty heavy. It’s not the biggest problem but you adjust to it pretty quickly. Once you start riding, you tend to feel that most gears feel the same, but still provide enough range to get around without a problem. The shifting in the front is a bit clunky, and you have to find the right sweet spot to stay on the gear correctly, but the back is pretty smooth and responsive. The braking is pretty standard, but does the job effectively. After riding around for more than 30 minutes, you most definitely start to feel how uncomfortable the seats are. If you plan on making any upgrades, THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST!! Speaking about upgrading, I changed the twist to shift to trigger shifter with a brake combo. Twisting to shift makes shifting easy while having your hands still on the bar, but my hands would constantly rub causing minor burns which got uncomfortable on longer rides. Switching to trigger shifters also freed up some space on my handle bars which allowed my to switch to custom handle grips as well. The stock grips did a pretty job a it was, but aftermarket ones are as cheap as $5-$15 which can improve ride comfort on a budget. All in all, I spent close to $250 on a used bike, with upgraded trigger shifter and brake combo, upgraded handle bar grip, and a comfortable seat. Rides pretty smooth, and I enjoy it. Other than the seat, thinking of cons took a bit of time because they don’t affect you much. It’s something you can definitely live with, without having to get upgrades. Pros: Good for beginners Easy assembly Smooth rear shifts Braking works good Cons: Bike seat Heavy/Bulky Front shifts clunky Most of the gears feel the same Limited upgrades ... show more

  • Came Broken, no warranty service, does not fit daughter well Came Broken, no warranty service, does not fit daughter well
The bike has potential, and perhaps with the general bike shortage, this might be all you can find, but if not, it is better to go somewhere else. This bike came in with two (2/3's) slits in critical brake lines. We wrote to warranty the same day and received a confirmation email that they received it. We have heard nothing back 2 weeks later. It's dangerous to send our daughter out on this, but it is her birthday gift and she wants to ride a bike. This is unacceptable. Additionally, while the seat does raise up, the handlebars do not. I personally do not think this is suitable for a 5'1" girl. In hindsight, I probably should have gone 26" instead of 24", but I made my decision based on their online guide, since we can't exactly test anything directly at home. The bike has decent construction otherwise, but for our case is not usable. ... show more

  • Good basic bike.
Size: 26-Inch Wheels Style: Aluminum Frame Color: Navy Blue
I bought this as a gift for a relative, and he has been very happy with the bike. He swapped out the seat for one with some impact relief. He has had to replace the brake pads once in the last year - he uses it a lot!

  • Good for beginners Good for beginners
Recent Updates: after few weeks, noticed the gear is sometimes slipping, plus the grip is so close to the gear Chang which sometimes swift the gear by accident. I really wish instead of plus and minus there are clear marking. Already spend around 60$ extra trying to tune the wheel as it was fine toned. I’m not expert in this and recently picked up this hobby/curiosity. Assembly was not complicated and with not much knowledge I manage to complete in 30-40min. BUT front brake adjustment was tricky and later found that front wheel is wobbly so learn from utube how to fix that issue. Finally took it to a trail which is intermediate trail as per the review and this survived. The only Big complaint I have is I wish they put some numbers on left handle to see which gear it’s running. Just plus and minus sign is very confusing. It also don’t let you know when this derail happen as you keep turning and hope it will eventually happen. Then again I think after a while you will able to figure out this. This good if you would like to test the mountain biking. If I become passionate follower then definitely need to upgrade. It’s basic, light but look great. ... show more
