When I ordered this wine chiller for my bar, I wanted to put it on the bar (so the top of the chiller would be just under the bottom of my upper cabinets). My uppers are 18 1/2" above the granite counter and the rated height of the chiller is 18.9", so I figured I'd have to put the chiller on the floor. Fortunately, that 18.9" includes the side bracket of the door, which sticks above the top of the chiller. The top of the chiller is at 18 1/4", so the chiller has 1/4" clearance under my cabinet, so a perfect fit in my bar counter. I left 6" clearance in back and put the chiller between my 2 humidors. The humidors don't go back as far as the chiller, so all the side vents are free for circulation and well vented. I plugged in the unit and turned it on right away, before putting any bottle in, and it cooled to 46 (the lowest setting) in 30 minutes, so I thought "wow, this thing cools fast". Then, I added 12 bottles, mostly wine, 2 ports, and 1 scotch, all of which were in cabinets or the wine rack (so, room temp, the house is at 76). The temp said 68 when I closed the door. It did not go to 46 nearly as fast as before, but it did cool steadily until it read 46 about 5 hours later. Checking the bottles then, they felt much colder than room temp. It's been 6 days now, and the unit has stayed at 46 degrees. Taking a bottle out, it feels nicely chilled and drinkable. The unit makes almost no noise at all, but does its job. There is no compressor to kick in and take more power, just the quiet hum of the thermo-electric running, so the power use is much lower than a compressor-based version. While it does not cool as far down or as fast as a compressor-based chiller, it does cool down to 46, which is fine, and it is much quieter and uses a lot less power. It comes with rubber feet pre-installed, but you have to install the handle yourself, which is kind of a pain. You have to peel off the buffer gasket (which fortunately uses no adhesive, but has protrusions that make it stay in place) and screw in the handle. The screws are short and they fit into a hole on the door, so you have to use a screwdriver to push them into the hole and jiggle until the screw pokes out, then start screwing the screw into the handle. Once both screws are started, it was not bad, but getting them started was not fun. The chiller has subdued white LED lighting, which works pretty well (see my photos). I personally would have preferred blue lighting, as I have seen in a different chiller, or better yet, selectable color (which I assume would add a bit of cost). But, the lighting is fine and works well, and being LED, no bulbs to ever replace. The price is quite competitive (a good deal cheaper than compressor-based models) and the unit performs well. I would say the 12-bottle model (which I have) is a better model to get for a bar top, as it probably would fit on the countertop (I think just over 18" is the standard height of cabinets), and the 10-bottle model, which is 3" taller, would work better for being on the floor. Personally, I like the look of the 12-bottle one better. Regardless, this is a good buy and recommended for the wine enthusiast. ... show more

There's only one thing that I don't like about this wine fridge, and that's paying for the wine to keep it stocked. That's because this fridge works great! It's super easy to just set the temperature and walk away. The cooling device is nice and quiet, so you can put it anywhere. We love this!!

    • Make sure you have enough room
This is a great little refrigeration unit for 12 bottles of wine, but it barely (and I mean barely) fit on our counter. It only has about 1/8" room between the top of the refrigerator and the bottom of our cabinet so it's really tight. Make sure you have plenty of clearance wherever you intend to place the unit. In fact, it might have worked better on a table or counter where there are not cabinets hanging over it, but it's not the most attractive thing to sit out on a table so keep that in mind. It's also not set up to place on the floor, so placement can be tricky. All that said, we were able to fit 12 bottles of wine in it, which is about right for us. The bottles are chilled but not too cold so it's excellent for keeping wine chilled, especially white wine (if you're into that). It works well. We haven't had any issues with it.
