  • Best lifting straps I've used, very versatile!
Color: Blue
i have used this style of strap for 10 years now and tried many others as well. Personal preference of course and others may like other strap styles. What I like about them is the padded wrist loop can be adjusted to assess comfort level. The dowel allows for superior grip and keeps the strap tight around the bar. A few people have said that the dowel setting leads to loose wrap on the bar. This is simply remedied by wrapping the strap a couple times, corskskrew style around the bar, the dowel does not have to sit in the center of your palm by any means. Anyway, I am sure everyone has their preferred wraps, but these ones are definitely extremely useful throughout the gym. ... show more

  • Perfect for heavy lifting!
Color: Camo
This is my 3rd or 4th pair of this style lifting strap and it wont be my last. I like how its not a long strap so there isn't a ton of extra material to keep looping around. I typically use them for deadlifts, and multiple back movements. They are amazing and have never failed me. Super comfortable around my wrists with the added padding and the dowel at the end helps really lock the strap in place. ... show more

  • Great for males and females who lift heavy
Color: Red
Came brand new, have had it for a few years now and still going strong after lifting some very heavy weights. Fits my husband and my (female) wrists well, no slippage.

  • Know what you're getting, do your research.
Color: Black
Look around, Schiek makes the best lifting straps out there. These were my first pair of any such weightlifting straps, and I can say I'm happy with my purchase. You do not wind these around the bar in a conventional manner, instead they cover bar a little over 1 revolution, depending on the width of the bar; the dowel placed at the end of the strap allows you to wrap only once and tighten the grip in a throttling manner. Takes a while to get used to but they are much more convenient to use than the conventional style allowing you to get a secure grip in two motions. Some say the strap isn't long enough while in my personal experience I find it is more than enough, sometimes even requiring adjustment in wrist placement since the dowel can become uncomfortable on your palm when overwrapped on a bar. I suppose those who come from a conventional strap background may find them difficult to become accustomed to. Due to it's design it should not be used cleaning or an serious weight while deadlifting. Overall I find them worth their shortcomings, it cuts the wrapping procedure to a fraction of what it usually is and it's much easier to find their 'sweet spot' in grip for two handed excercises. I would recommend this to any of my friends having explained the differences between these and conventional straps. They appear to be extremely sturdy and well built, padding is extra nice too. ... show more

  • Good wraps that don't hurt the wrists
I bought these actually by mistake thinking they were just straps without the dowel. I had bought them and they were all ready shipped so might as well try them out right? I actually like them more than I thought I would. I really do not have the best of grip (am working on that) but can lift so much more with straps. Pros: Foam padding for the wrist so the straps won't dig in like other straps; Once you figure out how to use them and have a little practice, these are very quick to lock into place; With normal straps, it matters how you put them on your wrist and which one is right and left. These have no right and left, just depends on how you want to tighten the Velcro; Velcro seems very durable and should last a long time; Cons: Takes some practice to get these on without the other hand at first.; If you have a new barbell, these have the potential to wear out quick; Short strap but just the right size for me to get it tight and comfortable. I would recommend these to anyone I worked out with. They are overall made with lifting in mind and work like a champ so far. I gave these 4 start just because I see potential for them to wear down faster than I would like. ... show more

  • Not for Everyone
I was disappointed with these for several reasons. The most significant reason--and ultimately why I returned them--is because the dowel locking mechanism is NOT a one-size-fits-all solution. The padded wrist enclosure is adjustable, so perhaps that aspect is one-size-fits-all. But the strap that wraps around the bar is NOT adjustable. It will lock onto the bar at a very specific point, and that point may or may not work for you. It did not work for me. If you're considering purchasing these, chances are you've used traditional lifting straps before (i.e., longer straps, without the dowel). I'll try to explain how these dowel straps work, by comparing them to traditional straps. With traditional straps, you can draw the bar closer to your wrist by grabbing the wrapped portion and twisting it (like a motorcycle throttle). In other words, regular straps can be tightened, which allows you to adjust the point at which the straps begin transferring weight to your wrists. The tighter you make them, the less grip you'll need, and the more you'll feel the weight on your wrists. With the dowel straps, THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. While traditional straps rely heavily on friction to prevent the strap from slipping, the dowel straps rely on your palm to pinch the dowel against the bar. You can try tightening the dowel straps, but because they are not double-wrapped around the bar (like traditional straps), they lack the friction necessary to stay tight--they will just loosen up again until the dowel reaches the point where your palm meets the bar. (In this regard, dowel straps function more like lifting hooks. That is, there's a clearly-defined point where the straps take over.) Based on the mostly-positive reviews, I'd say this "default tightness" is acceptable to most people. For me, it was not. In my case, my grip strength would have to fail to the point where the bar has moved to my second knuckles before the strap transfers any weight to my wrists. These don't save my grip strength so much as they spot me after it fails. The most important variable in determining whether or not these will work comfortably for you is actually not hand size, it is BAR THICKNESS. The reason the straps don't work for me is because I'm using a shrug bar with 1" diameter handles. This is apparently too thin. However, I tried them on my fat grip dumbbells (~1.4" diameter), and they felt quite comfortable. A small change in diameter makes a big difference. The second reason I was disappointed is because the two straps are identical--not mirror images of each other. This may sound trivial, but what it means is that your left wrist will bear the weight differently than your right. This is because the neoprene padding doesn't completely surround your wrists. There's a gap, the size of which depends on how thick your wrists are. When this gap is positioned differently on each wrist, it doesn't feel right. The third reason I was disappointed is because the craftsmanship didn't live up to the hype. Specifically, there were significant deviations in how the separate components were stitched together. Under close inspection, you can see that it was assembled pretty carelessly, and on one of the pieces, the stitches almost missed the material completely. The final reason is because the dowel straps are not wide enough to completely protect your hands from calluses. Most likely, only your middle 2 fingers will be protected; your index and pinky will not. ... show more
