Fantastic Product, worth every penny.

I have a number of these now and they fit right into my overall water storage plan. I first encountered these when I was in the Army and I was always very impressed with them. They are extremely durable, easy to clean and can be organized in a small foot print. In my attached picture, you can see I have four of them in an old kids wagon, great for mobility. I tag them all with date filled, which really helps with rotation. (The tags I got here on Amazon also) When filled they are heavy, but still easy to move around for medium too large individuals, smaller folks may have trouble with the weight, but that applies to Water, Regardless of what containers it is in.

Great for water storage in case of emergency/prepping.

This can is super durable. It takes extreme heat and cold very well without any damage. After all this is the EXACT SAME water can that is used by the US and Canadian Armed Forces to get their drinking water from (in addition to the water trucks obviously). I've used these in the toughest environments and can tell you they held up extremely well. So when I saw this can on Amazon while looking for water storage options in case my family and I had to leave our home for a while (the ones in our home aren't portable) I knew this would be perfect. I ordered one just to make sure it was the real deal and not a "blemish" or knockoff.... and it was 100% the real deal. So for the price I will be getting one or two more to make sure we have plenty of water for my family for a couple days. I will let you know they will have a funky oder when when you get them. Don't worry, that odor is not a harmful chemical, but rather is left over from the manufacturing process. To get rid of the odor do as follows: 1. fill the can with 2.5 gallons of water. 2. put 2.5 Teaspoons of bleach (do NOT use tabespoons) 3. put 1.5 tablespoons of white vinegar inside. Seal the can and shake up and down, side to side, turn it upside down and shake it too. Drain the can. then fill with 2 gallons of water and shake again in the same manner. Empty the can and allow to air dry with can upside down so water can run out (you'll need something to help hold the lid wide open). After that you will notice the odor is gone and it's ready to rock and roll. just remember for long term storage you want to use the water and fill with fresh every 4-6 months (if stabilized with 1/8 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water...this is the safe level to make water safe to drink and permit long term storage per numerous sources including the CDC). The shipper got this out blazing fast and it arrived a day early so I have no complaints there either.

I'm happy with this water container. It's durable, it doesn't leach plastic flavor into water (though I rarely drink from it), and it doesn't leak. I use this when primitive camping to have water on hand to wash my hands, brush my teeth, wash dishes, etc. I'll drink from it if I really need to, but I usually just have bottled water in the cooler for that. I go camping over a 3-day weekend every month, regardless of weather. So far, this has been on 22 camping trips with me (66 days of camping), has been dropped when full, has been exposed to both sweltering heat and freezing cold, has sat outside in heavy storms, and has bumped around in the back of the truck for thousands of miles. Other than some scuffs and a few dents, it functions just like new. it still doesn't leak and it still stands up on its own. I do suggest you purchase the wrench, as the cap can be a pain to get off in certain circumstances without it. There's not a whole lot to say about a water container, but this is a good one and has been very durable.

I bought 3 of these last year to store water for emergency use. I changed the water in them today and noticed 2 things. First, the water I discarded from all three had a slight plastic taste. Nothing too bad, but the taste was there. Hopefully the taste will be gone at my next refill. Second, one can had an o-ring in the cap to seal the cap. The second can had no o-ring. The third can had an o-ring that was deformed from not being seated in the cap properly. I like these cans and would buy more if I needed. Any buyer just needs to be sure that the o-ring is present and properly seated in the cap.

Much more durable and sturdy than I initially thought it would be, the old adage really rings true : you get what you pay for. The plastic on this thing is quite thick - far thicker and stiffer than any metal can I've gotten in the past - and I've already dropped mine out the back of my truck without having it crack. I washed it once with just water, and then filled it and left it in the truck for a day (6-ish hours) at about 120F before getting a sip out of it. Though there's a slight hint of plastic taste in the water itself, it's not offensive in the least and is absolutely to be expected with these sorts of things. The second go-around saw the plastic taste completely gone, and this is now one of my favorite water containers for if a storm comes. And, like the review says, so nice, I ordered it twice! I look forward to using these in the future.
